Chapter 73
The raindrops had started hitting against the ground rhythmically, wrapping the atmosphere in a light fog that had made you feel like you were walking in some ghost city. If it wasn't for the many vehicles that kept passing by as you kept walking away from the hospital with your destination the bus stop that was at sight.
Your hair had already started getting a bit wet as you had no umbrella with you for you didn't recall the weather forecast mentioning anything about rain tonight yet again even if they were to have mentioned it, you most likely wouldn't have taken an umbrella with you since you had not thought that you would be staying out till this hour however you could not leave, taking into consideration the situation Jin seemed to be in and the one Namjoon was.
For some reason he underwent two panic attacks in a span of a few hours after you and Jin had finished your conversation and returned to his room, only to find him on his bed, looking relatively calm. However as minutes ticked away and with only one try of Jin's to mention Elle's existence, he broke down as if he was a house of cards.
The sight had left you quite a bitter and sad taste, for you could feel the pain even if he himself was not aware why was he hurting so. And honestly witnessing him like that, made you reconsider the things you had thoughts about him prior, related to him and Elle, and how he was not good enough nor worthy. For the more you looked at him, the more you could tell that he had been suffering too all those years just like she had suffered waiting on him, he had dived in misery every day more, trying to bring back, the one everyone around him were waiting for.
It had made you wonder how could it feel, seeing everyone you ever loved, being desperate to have back a version of yourself that you had lost. How much that could possibly make someone scared for the you of now was practically no longer the one they wanted and loved. How confusing must it have been, for him, craving to be loved by people he did not remember, just because they claimed that they love him and he loves them.
As you put yourself in his shoes, the more sorry you ended up feeling and maybe even a bit annoyed towards the people that could most likely have tried to take advantage of his messy state. People like Byeol for example, who couldn't help but see as someone who would grab a chance by all means if it was to bring her some benefit.
I guess my grudges are showing...she still has the benefit of the doubt.
You argued with yourself inwardly just as you reached the shelter of the bus stop and halted there, finding one more person waiting. You gave them a small silent greeting with your head as you made eye contact then looked towards the direction the bus was supposed to arrive from, only to witness a knowing figure with an umbrella, walking towards you.
"JaeHyun?...Hi-" You reached your hand to wave at him slightly as a greeting only for him to grab your hand and pull you away with him. An action that had startled you at first and made you resist but his hold was being too strong.
"What the heck? Let go of me!" You yelled at him, finding his actions scary and unacceptable, however, he ignored your words and just yanged your hand, making you yelp a bit loudly, before firmly halting your steps and pulling back with all the force you could manage, bringing his steps to a freeze.
"Why! Just why do you have to go and do this!?" He stormed around and showed his angry face at you, perplexing you but also alarming you. His hand still gripping your wrist firmly.
"I did nothing. I don't know what are you talking about. Have you lost your mind?" You questioned him, as you gave him a death stare, hoping he will realize that you were not playing and you didn't appreciate the sudden force he was using at all.
"You are getting married! How is that nothing!" He snapped back, this time letting go of your wrist before he threw his umbrella away, scaring slightly the woman that was watching you from the bus station who felt the need to call the police, upon witnessing this interaction that was getting out of hand in her judgement.
"What has that to do with you?" You raised an eyebrow at him as you took some steps back, for security reasons.
"Come one Y/N! I have been waiting on you for so many years. I love you! Why do you think I want to get close to you anyways. I have feelings for you!" Jaehyun's chest kept rising and falling rapidly as he uttered those words, in the grip of his anger that had gotten hold of him from the moment he heard of that and had fueled more as he had tried to find you throughout the day to no avail, only to find your whereabouts and wait for you by the hospital long enough for his emotions to get the best of him completely as the more he kept trying for something to do and win you on his side, at this point nothing seemed good enough.
Silence followed his words as you were not expecting such a confession but the more you kept looking in his eyes, the more mad you started feeling with him.
"So what." You uttered, bringing his face to confusion for surely he was not expecting that kind of reaction from you. Knowing you he was hoping to see some guilt and empathy on you, hopefully to a point where he could use it to his advantage.
"Do you really think that you have a saying in my life just because you claim to have feelings for me? I barely know you and you should be ashamed of trying to get close to someone by lying." Your glare made him instantly comprehend the fact that you were seeing him as someone you dislike and that made him break into a chuckle that was a coping response to how offended he felt.
"Y/N, if you get married to him, I will get hurt. You are the only thing that had been keeping me. The hope that one day you could be with me. You are the only person that could understand me and embrace me. Please, please don't do this to me." His eyes softened as he begged, bringing your state of mind to a mess for he seemed to not be lying but everything he was saying was also something that made no sense to you.
You had never given him any opening, or any signs that could have potentially confused him in thinking that you were interested in him, or so you believed, and all these claims that he was doing out of nowhere were nothing more but irrational and illogical to you.
"Are you drunk? Did you take anything? Just what's wrong with you? Please stop this nonsense, you are scaring me Jaehyun." You admitted as you took some more steps back and his facial expression instantly changed again to an angered one, thing that made you turn around and try to run away, but unfortunately, he caught you, from your waist, making you leave a scream before you got engaged in a push and pull entanglement that none outsider saw fit to interfere in.
"What happened with you Y/N? Did you start getting brave? Did you forget your school days?" He whispered in your ear as he had managed to penetrate you in his hold, having taken hold of both your arms and crossed them over your body, with him standing close behind your back.
"Yeah, I grew braver and you grew crazier." You blew some hair that had fallen on your face as you replied then with a confident move you pushed your head back, bumping it on his face, strong enough to make his grip on you get lost. You took that opportunity to free yourself and step away, only to punch him right in the face immediately after, making him fumble over his steps and end up walking on the road just as a vehicle was passing by.
"Oh No!" You snapped as the moment happened quickly before your eyes, him crashing on the ground right as the vehicle managed to step on the brakes, not hitting him.
The scene had your breath cut as you instantly rushed towards Jaehyun to help him, only for him to push you away once you tried to take hold of him and help him stand back on his feet. An action and a gaze which made you feel guilty yet had no chance to say anything as the police sirene drew your attention and the vehicle halted soon before you.
---meanwhile---
Taehyung had opened the door to Byeol with a calm mind, ready for an act, however, he didn't get to say a single word as her bodyguard appeared out of nowhere and pushed the door, entering inside and immobilizing him.
He remained calm as his one cheek was one with the wall and his arms were in quite some pain from the force that tall and well build man was implementing on him, just in case he was to try to free himself.
"Do you always like making fancy entries, Miss?" He joked with a small smile hanging on his lips as Byeol leaned against the wall and turned her head to face him.
"I could in no way afford to come by unprepared Mr Kim. I hope you don't mind if my bodyguard stays around." She patted the shoulder of the man as soon as she finished her words and the man stepped aside almost instantly, leaving Taehyung free.
"Oh, so he is into...being an observer." He rubbed a bit his knuckles as he gave a mocking stare towards the tall guy, trying his best to not show the fact that he had been taken aback by the sudden actions that took place.
"I don't think that he is. "Byeol replied, leaving to be implied that her bodyguard had no other choice but to do what she orders him to then she calmly made her way further inside the room, leaving her bodyguard standing by the door.
"Champagne...strawberries...It looks like you were pretty confident that I would show up." She held her straight composure as she commented on the things that caught her eyes, feeling slightly satisfied by the fact that she had proved him wrong on his assumption of her not finding herself worthy.
"Oh no love. They were for me. If I am, to be honest, I was not expecting you to show up at all. You being here though, sure is pleasant." He plastered a faint smile as he left his eyes to travel her body suggestively and she felt a wave of annoyance rising within her at the audacity this man had and how he was basically implying that she was worth anything for him only as a physical presence.
"Has anyone told you before Mr Kim, that you are quite rude?" She stared at him and Taehyung casually made his way to the glass of champagne he had left prior at the side.
"Plenty actually. Strangely enough though in bed no one has complained to me about my attitude." He took hold of the bottle and poured a glass to her, as Jungkook who was at the balcony eavesdropping, made a gagging gesture upon hearing those certain words.
Why me of all people? Why do I have to suffer hearing this nonsense? What sins am I paying for?
He wondered in his head as his phone vibrated in his pocket and drew his attention, making him reply to his girlfriend's text, informing her that the target had arrived.
"Unfortunately I will have to believe you in that statement of yours, for many backed up that claim," Byeol uttered as Taehyung turned around and walked towards her with his glass on his hand and hers on the other.
"Many?" He raised an eyebrow as he offered the glass to her and she took it, purposely leaving her fingers to brush against his on the process.
"I obviously had to ask around before getting involved with you. Don't you think that's only smart to do?" She gave him a small smile before taking a few sips from her drink, her words having left Taehyung feeling quite uneasy on the inside for her words carried a certain aura that he couldn't help but recognize.
"And you still decided to come here even after all the things you must have heard?"
"Is that surprising? Why wouldn't I come to see the man who is trying to trap me and deceive me." Her plain and straightforward words had Taehyung grow a smile inevitably before gulping down the rest of his drink, the action giving him enough time to gather his chaotic thoughts.
"Let me guess. You are quite mad at the fact, aren't you?" He tilted his head, having accepted the fact that this was not going as he was hoping to go, but he did not care much for at the end of the day, he had partially taken what he wanted.
"Surprised would fit more my state if I am, to be honest. You see I never expected Y/N to do such a move." She casually took her seat at the corner of the bed, as she swirled the liquid around on the glass, unaware that the mentioning of your name, had surprised both Taehyung and Jungkook.
"Y/N?"
"Don't try to pretend like you don't know her. I found out you are friends already."She smiled right before she left her glass drop on the floor and shatter.
"All my life, rarely anyone had the chance to get me this off guard as she did. Can you imagine? Someone I used to bully, someone whom I had filled the eyes of with tears many times and her head in fear. Someone as pathetic dares to act against me." She glanced at the ceiling as she spoke, seeming as she was reminiscing the good old days, yet her words had brought a dark expression on Taehyung's face who was hearing things he was not aware of till that moment but were also words that had triggered something withing him, beyond return.
"You used to know Y/N?" His voice came off darker than expected to her and as she brought her head to look at him, she couldn't help but find her body freezing instantly under his scary gaze.
The people that had managed to scare her in her life were few yet at that very moment, Taehyung had managed with a simple glare to awaken a fear within her that covered her in shivers and made her call for her bodyguard only for the man to rush further inside and halt at a close distance for he saw nothing endangering going on.
"You used to bully her...yet still thought that you could come to stand before me and expect to walk out of here in one piece?" A peal of creepy laughter followed his words that had her instantly on her feet, feeling insecure even though she had her bodyguard right by her side.
From the moment she had found out that you and Taehyung usually hang out, she had seen all these actions of his as nothing more but a scheme you must have made to bring her relationship with your boss to an end. And even though prior to finding that fact out, she had almost found herself falling for Taehyung's tricks, after she had been nothing but mad towards him. Enough to want to put him in his place and teach you both a lesson to not mess with her. That was the sole reason she had brought along her bodyguard and at that very moment that Taehyung cut his laughter sharp and abruptly got hold of her neck, she couldn't help but yelp her bodyguard's name, which instantly interfered, taking Taehyung on the ground.
The sight had left her shocked a bit as she could feel his grip ghosting still over her skin, but she had not time to collect her mind, for Jungkook entered from the balcony door fiercely and rushed towards Taehyung, kicking her bodyguard in the face as hard as he could, to help Taehyung free himself from his grip.
"We better go," Jungkook told him as Taehyung stood on his feet again, with her bodyguard struggling on the floor while holding his head.
"Didn't you hear? This trash can used to bully Y/N. I am not going anywhere without giving her a lesson." He glared towards her as she made some steps back before she tried to run away, but Taehyung rushed and took hold of her, making her start screaming until he pinned her against the wall and covered her mouth with his hand, leaving Jungkook to face a bodyguard that was now on his feet, ready to attack him.
"For God's sake! This is not the time!" Jungkook yelled at him as he managed to dodge a punch the man tried to threw at him and land one on his face, bringing him on the floor again, before he exhaled a phoneme of pain, for the contact with his jaw, somehow had hurt his fist.
What the heck is he made from? Metal?
He wondered as Taehyung ordered Byeol to stop moving in a rather harsh tone and she did so, only for him to take his hands off of her and take a step back, while maintaining eye contact.
"I will sue you!" She threatened him as her chest kept falling and rising rapidly.
"Fair enough." He replied for he surely believed so, considering the inappropriate action he had done tonight.
"You can call the police. We won't fight nor we will run away." He added, making Jungkook give him a dumbfounded look before telling him that he should be speaking for himself only for he had not calculated nor could afford to get in trouble with the law.
Upon hearing Taehyung's words and ignoring Jungkook's small disagreeing, she rushed to take out of her pocket her phone, only for Taehyung to take a step closer towards her and place his one arm by the side of her face, his palm resting against the wall behind her.
"You can call them and I will accept any fair judgment upon me for my actions tonight but I hope you rest assured that I will make sure, you get a fair judgment of your actions towards my friend." His expressionless face had her hesitant to press that call button, however, the fact that he was intimidating her only made her angrier for he was making her appear weak and she hated that.
"Do you think I am someone who would get scared by mare threats? And for what? Over Y/N. Huh! You are underestimating me" She gathered her courage and looked him straight in the eyes, making Taehyung tilt his head to the side.
" Till this moment I had nothing personal against you Miss. From this moment on, however, I am afraid that it's personal. Good luck with handling the consequences of that." He took her phone from her hand and pressed the call to the police on his own, his eyes staring into hers full of confidence for he meant every word he said and in his head, he had made up his mind, to destroy her in every aspect possible.
