Chapter 15

With wavering eyes, Taehyung stood before Nari, who had taken her seat opposite his desk and was taking a sip from the coffee he had ordered for her before she was to let him know of the reason she had ended up here even though the last memory of her consisted of curses towards him and a slap that felt still fresh all of a sudden.

"I...am happy to see that you are doing well." He uttered hesitantly and as she looked up to him leaving the cup back on the desk, Taehyung understood well that she didn't believe that he meant what he said.

"I am really sorry to have ended up here and I am even more sorry to be approaching you of all people...but...Jimin didn't seem to even bother to give me the time of the day." She cut to the case with confidence in her eyes and a smile on her lips, which left Tahyung a bit interested to hear further.

She was someone who hated him dearly, after all. And she sure had every reason to. Nari was Jimin's second girlfriend after Nerin and he had really used her as a saving boat to get himself out of the fresh mess he was in back then. But it was too obvious that it wasn't love, even to Taehyung himself. Because he had chosen just because she resembled NeeRin. The way she sits, the way she dresses, the way she smiles, and her hair color, even her name sounded alike. She was nothing but a moment of desperation to move on for Jimin and for Taehyung, she was the first with who he proved his threat to his brother. He did steal her from him. She and many more after her, just as he had claimed that he would.

"I need money. A big amount. Can you lend it to me?" Nari left those words to escape from her lips with a heavy heart, as she would literally die than ever borrow money from either of them but she was in a tight spot and those two brothers were the only people she knew of that would be capable to access such an amount of money easily.

"May I know the exact amount?" Taehyung asked as he without hesitation reached his drawer and took out of it his checkbook, ready to write on her name whatever amount she was to utter.

His action made Nari a bit uncomfortable as she couldn't believe that he was gonna give her the money so easily. No asking why she needed it, not anything of the million things she had thought they might ask her.

"Ah...It's...150,000$"

"Have 200,000 then." He replied as he wrote the amount down and signed the check soon, landed it right before her eyes.

"See, that's why I didn't want to take money from you. You make it feel as if you are buying my pain." She murmured with her head low as she retrieved the check from the desk and folded it nicely before placing it in her pocket.

"I will definitely return it. It's just a borrow, you hear me?" She uttered as she finally looked at Taehyung, with eyes slightly teary yet they had strength laid in them. A strength that reminded him of her stubbornness before she grabbed her things and left the room.

Taehyung stood there silent for a bit, feeling the weight of the atmosphere that had changed, burdening him. He knew that she hated him yet to have fallen this low meant that she needed that money for something very important to her, that's why he didn't hesitate to give her any, no matter if she ever returned it to him or not. To not mention the fact that he felt emotionally guilty just by hearing her name. He really had done many mistakes. Enough for this thought to get born once again in his head.

Do I really deserve a happy life? Do I really deserve to have someone that loves me truly?

---Time skip---

Jin took his seat in front of Namjoon's office who was yet to notice his presence as he was lying face down on his desk, his hands spread upon the sides of his desk as if he was trying to hug the furniture. It was a sight that brought a slight smile to the older and made him restrain himself from bursting a laugh.

"So, I will assume you are sleepless for days again."He uttered and Namjoon rose slightly his head just to see him for a moment then returned to his previous position, humming a positive sound.

"I almost pity the secretary that has to go through so much to make you look like a human being while you literally refuse to sleep for days on end. Since when do you plan on keeping this absurdity up? You do know there are people who would love to be able to fall asleep, while you here fighting it on purpose, right?" Jin ended up nagging at him unconsciously as he had not come with that intention. He was just worried about his brother and his health that seemed to decrease over time.

"Huh...Don't make me laugh. It's not like I do this as a hobby. It's not like I don't want to sleep, I just...can't allow that to happen." Namjoon responded now his face slightly up, enough for him to show his eyes that were quite red.

"You are human. You can't function without sleep. Just stop this, please."Jin leaned towards his desk more with a pleading gaze, hoping to convince him this time, even though all the previous time he had tried to persuade him, he had failed.

"Just leave me alone." Namjoon stood up from his chair and turned his back on him, walking till the window from which plenty of light could come in, making him rub his face, tiringly.

"It's in the past Namjoon. That car accident is in the past so let it be there." Jin approached him, not intending to drop this subject this time around. He had to tell him some things he liked it or not.

"So what if you lost part of your memories because of it? So what if you feel like you have lost a part of you since then? You are still alive, aren't you? You can get to know yourself again, you can get to love all the things that you used to love. Instead of isolating yourself for the past three years, you should open up and find those things bit by bit. What good brings you staying here, can you tell me?" There laid a bit of furry on Jin's voice as he was more than annoyed with the behavior of his brother. Yes, he understood that the loss of memory could be traumatic for someone, but it had been three years now. Three years that Jin had been waiting for his brother to come back from the dead, as that's how he felt after that fateful day onwards. Three years that he has been patient and been hurting along seeing him like this. Just how much longer was he gonna take, till he snaps out of it?

"I know...I KNOW! SO STOP IT!" Namjoon turned around and stormed at him, his chest puffing up and down, showcasing the anger that suddenly welds up inside him. He understood that his brother wanted only the best for him and obviously that's what he wanted to for himself, but it just wasn't as easy as anyone may think.

No one was him. None of them closed their eyes and faced darkness that seemed endless like he did. None of them ever doubted their every thought and action, because they weren't sure if the one they used to be would ever think or act like that. The projection he now had of himself was gathered of other people's perspective of him, so how could he be sure that he really was all that? What if he was not hardworking but just used to pretend to be so?? What if he didn't like this certain food but he used to eat it for someone's sake? He will never know what was it that he really felt and truly like and he could never be sure if the things he now thinks he likes, are things he truly likes and no one's influence made him think that he liked them. Why did they all speak of him to get over it as if this mess was something easy to get over from? He had lost himself yet all ask of him to bring them back the Namjoon they knew.

"I want to be like I used to be too! I want to behave as I used to no matter what was that kinda behavior but I just can't. Okay!... I can't...go back." His eyes dropped to the floor along with his voice that lowered drastically, making Jin feel guilty for pressuring him.

The two stayed silent for a bit, Jin not finding the right words to say to make this right and as the phone on his pocket started going off, he took this opportunity to flee instead, till he was to be in a better state and be able to fix this somehow. He excused himself, leaving behind Namjoon who slid on the floor as soon as his brother stepped out of the doorstep and left the door open, leaving you and Elle able to now take a look at what was going on inside.

You two had been working at Elle's desk till Mr. Kim had come to visit his brother and awkwardly enough you were able to hear what they were talking about because he seemed to have left the door half-closed. Of course, you hadn't heard everything clearly as you hadn't notice till the shouts drew your attention and made you look at each other in worry. Yet Elle seemed to collect herself immediately and stood up from her seat in order to bow to Jin as he left. You followed after her actions even though he hadn't seemed to be giving much attention to your greeting, but that was normal given the situation.

The silence that followed made you grow a bit uncomfortable not knowing if there was something you were supposed to do or you should just get back to your work and pretend this never happened but as you looked over at Elle, she just smiled at you and then brought her hand over your shoulder, in an attempt to reassure you that everything was okay.

When she left you there and walked away, you couldn't help but grow a bit curious as to what was Mr.Namjoon doing in there, feeling a bit sorry for him. However, as you approached the crack of the door and hesitantly peeked inside, you worried enough by seeing him on the floor holding his head between his hands, that you ended up pushing the door and entering his office.

Despite the fact that the door created some noise along with your footsteps, he didn't seem to bother to look up to you or anything.

"A-Are you okay, Sir?" You decided to question with your hand in mid-air as if you were trying to reach him, despite the fact that you were standing so far away from him. However, your clear and loud enough voice didn't seem to have reached him as NamJoon kept staring at the floor.

You were perplexed over what to do till you heard footsteps echoing, which you assumed to be Elle's and as you waiting, it was indeed her, that entered the office, with a tray in her hands. She didn't seem to hesitate to approach him unlike you. Her facial expression was empty and her body posture as confident and steady as ever.

She leaned down and left the tray on the floor, bringing to his vision the glass full of water and the two pills that were beside it, then she stood there right before him, doing nothing and saying nothing till NamJoon rose his head and looked up to her.

When their eyes met, you could tell that something had changed in the atmosphere yet you couldn't exactly pinpoint of the change was positive or negative, yet when she held her hand out for him to take in order to help him stand up on his feet again, you distinguished kindness in her eyes.

But NamJoon wasn't like you. The image of Elle reaching out her hand to him was replaced with another before his eyes, in a split second. Between fire and blood, he stood, in pain and despair for someone to go help him. His hand had reached towards a person who was standing at a short distance from him, just staring at him and doing nothing. Red was dripping from the fingers of the blurry image of a woman whose posture matched perfectly with Elle as he snapped out of it and his vision returned to the present only.

Funny, how for years he had wished to recall something yet his memory chose to bring him back only that image in this exact moment. A hand that was still stretched out towards him that he violently took hold of, bringing Elle to her knees, and her face now full of surprise, closer to his.

"Sir? Wha-"

"I never liked your presence." Namjoon cut her off as his gaze turned to a really threatening one, which made you take two steps towards them, scared for her.

"I don't remember you but I always hated the feelings you emit to me when you are around me. So you better leave as soon as possible. You heard me?" He threatened subtly then left hr hand abruptly, making her fall on the floor while he just stood up and walked out of his office, ignoring your presence by the door completely.

As soon as he was out of sight you rushed to her side and helped her stand up, asking her if she was okay with an evident worry in your eyes and Elle just gifted you a smile before she picked the tray and placed it on the desk then told you to follow her outside.

You returned to her desk and she went on to work without saying much for a bit even though you couldn't help but think that she was not completely okay yet it was clear that she didn't want to talk about it.

"You don't have to worry Y/N. Mr. Kim is not a bad person. I assure you he would never behave like this with you so please don't be scared." She suddenly uttered and you hummed a reply, wanting to believe that it was so but finding it difficult to not worry over it. This was your first day of work and it had turned out to not be exactly smooth nor it had succeeded to make you feel like this environment was friendly enough for you to be comfortable there.

Was taking on this job a good idea?
