Side note, don't panic when a female is given a 'male' title. There are no feminine titles in the Nether. Sorry girls :(

In S2, the Nether is (obviously) run by demons. The demon with the highest authority is the King of Hell. Below the King are the Princes of Hell, who are guarded by the Knights of Hell.

By definition, a Prince of Hell is a demon (or creature with demon blood) that is a child of the current King. A Knight is assigned to each Prince to guard from potential threats.

The King chooses a Prince to be his or her heir. That is, if the King were to die, not by a demon's hands, the heir would take the crown and rule hell. Although the heir is typically the eldest Prince, this is not always true.

The main role of the Princes of Hell is to keep the inferior demons in line and keep hell running smoothly. All Princes have easy access to hellhounds and can come and go as they please. Many prefer to stay in the Overworld and keep to themselves. Princes have much more free will than other demons (Common, Crossroad, Knight).

Before the King has chosen an heir, the Prince's will typically stay in hell and fight amongst one another to gain power and their father's, or mother's, approval. After an heir is chosen, the succession to the throne is determined by age. Heir, eldest, second oldest, and so on.

Because Ash is a child of the King, he is a Prince of Hell. His father, Kiongozi, declares him as the heir to the crown when Ash is 19 years old, just a year after Ash meets his father for the first time.

The record number of Princes of Hell is 20, but there are typically 6 Princes, including the heir. Until an heir is chosen, the Princes often fight for the highest rank. Eldest typically holds this rank.

Ash is one of seven Princes, obviously being the youngest. All are either full or half siblings as they all share the same father. Ash is closest to the eldest (buddies in fact), allies with two, and acquaintances or enemies with the other three.

The eldest is Kiburi (♂), Swahili for pride. Close friends/half brothers
The second is Wivu (♀), jealousy or envy. Allies
The third oldest is Tamaa (♀), named for lust. Enemies
The fourth oldest is Ulafi (♂), greed. Allies
The fifth is Ukatili (♂), Swahili for gluttony. Acquaintances
The youngest demon is Wavivu (♂), Swahili for sloth or lazy. Enemies
The youngest prince, and heir to the throne, is Ash. If he were born a demon, he would be known as Hasira, Swahili for wrath. However, some demons will call him Hasira out of respect for his position in the hierarchy.

In fact, the bond between Ash and Kiburi is so strong that Kiburi would turn Ash away from something he didn't want Ash to see, like an execution. This is not typical behavior for a demon. Only a strong bond between siblings could explain the Prince's actions.

Ash's disappearance didn't send just the gods and Creators into a panic. Kiongozi and the Kiburi ended up joining the gods in the search for Ash so they could see their little prince again.

Most Princes of Hell have a house to themselves in a quiet corner of the world. This keeps them away from prodding eyes and both the Princes and mortals safe. Only the King, Princes, and assigned Knights know where these safe havens reside.

Ash enjoys spending his free time with Kiburi in the eldest Prince's biodome. The biodome is simply a sphere of magic that hides the creatures and buildings within. Magic cannot be tracked within the biodome, which is why Ash enjoys it so much. Ash can train and perfect his magic without worrying that the Creators and gods can find him.

Ash is the only Prince with no assigned Knight of Hell. Kiburi was instead commanded to keep Ash safe. Imagine the punishment given when Ash disappeared under Kiburi's watch (technically).

No one can tell me that Ash and Kiburi do not have a bromance. They are as close as two people can get before being in a relationship hehe.
