Also random Brine lover fact: With a Brine's first lover, their soul is split in half and their lover actually unconsciously protects one half of the soul. This does not harm either member of the new couple as the Brine's soul is now bound to their lover. When the lover dies, the soul half also dies and is lost forever, which is why it's so painful for a Brine to lose a lover. With the second lover, the Brine's soul is split in half again and the process repeats itself. So basically...

Lover #1 gets 1/2 of the whole soul
