Ok, deep breaths...

Mija is a slang term, short for 'mi hija'.

Hija means daughter, hijo means son.

Also, in Spanish, j's are pronounced as an h, and h's are silent.

So 'hija' would be said as 'ee-ha'

Cause a -> ah (father)
E -> eh (fed)
I -> ee (feed)
O-> oh (low [before you say the w])
U -> oo (or fruit)

Terribly sorry for this rant, I've just been seeing mija everywhere lately and I had recently learned about mija vs hija in my Spanish class. Aphmau uses mija in her videos a lot and it's just been getting on my nerves.

Also random fact, I'm dropping Spanish next school year. I don't actually like to take foreign languages. Probably the American inside me...
