Jane Lark is a troubled school girl who often lashes out at those around her. She runs away from home as a cry for attention but is never able to fully commit and always ends up coming back home on her own. After another fight with her parents she runs away again and gets kidnapped by John Shrike, kidnapped being used very generously. She picks up quickly that he's not the sharpest pencil in the pack and uses him to get away. The dynamic is a little bit of a 'why wouldn't you do ___?' '-does it-' 'Well...shit.'
