Chapter 13: Inko

Meanwhile, on the other side of the district, a young brunette was on her way to buy groceries, coupons in hand. Being near dirt poor, she knew how to get a bargain when she needed it. Uraraka approached the street corner that bordered the supermarket, yet in the corner of her eye she noticed something, or rather someone. There was no mistaking that spiky blonde hair.

Katsuki Bakugou.

It perplexed her to no end; from knowing him as a classmate, she was sure he didn't live on this side of town. Not once had she seen him in this area since first laying eyes on him back when they first started. So why was he here now? It certainly wasn't for shopping, as evident by his direction; he was heading for… an apartment complex?

If she wasnt confused before she certainly was now. Is he visiting someone? If so, why is now the first time? Uraraka made a note to herself to follow him later, if only to satisfy her curiosity.

And that was how she found herself in front of an apartment at 6pm on a friday evening. The door, seemingly being the only exterior the tenants could customise, was a pearlescent cream, detailed by its wooden base which made itself noticeable through the paint. A small decorative sign hung upon a single iron nail. 'The Midoriya Residence' it read in flowing, personalised handwriting that appeared carved into the board itself.

At this point, she had prior witnessed the blonde pomeranian storm away from here, confirming that this was indeed the place. "This is where Izuku lives" she had noted upon first viewing the sign. Uraraka, dispelled from thought, glanced once more at the door. If she wanted answers tonight, it was now or never.

Two knocks disrupted the silence.

As if by reflex, the door opened to reveal a greenette woman. She was short, only a few inches taller than Uraraka herself, but it was obvious that this was Izuku's mother; not only did they share a hair colour, it was also apparent that Izuku certainly had his mother's eyes: wide emerald orbs that proclaimed no malice nor ill-intent. "Hello miss, how may I help you this lovely evening?" She spoke with an aura of kindness that almost caught the young brunette off-guard. "You wouldn't happen to be Izuku's mother would you?" Uraraka inquired innocently. For a moment, the woman's eyes widened further before relaxing soon after. "Please, come in! It must be cold out there," the greenette responded before ushering her into the apartment.

The two women sat adjacent from each other, separated by a fawn table. "So, how do you know my son?" The greenette asked. "Well, miss-" "just call me Inko dear,"
"Well Inko, your son saved my life back during the entrance exams and-" she didn't get to finish as a moment of realisation adorned Inko's face.

"So you're that girl Izuku talked about! Uraraka isn't it? I've heard so much about you! He would go on and on about you, how every day he was training at the beach you were there, as if silently cheering him on. It inspired him, at least before… before..." Inko paused at that, seemingly unable to continue. It was like the words were withheld by some unseen force.

"Before what?"
