Chapter 6

I heaved up the shovel, regretting how much snow I had on it before tossing it aside, panting. The feeling in my muscles of strain being past the point of just painful. The horrible thing about living in the pack house was all the land that surrounded it, so much ground meant a lot of maintenance. And being the children of my father meant that maintenance was mandatory.

All of us were outside with shovels trying to clear the pathways in the forest at the back of the house. Nearly four feet of snow had fallen last night while we were asleep, mom nearly broke the poor door trying to get out of the house. Luckily it managed to stay on its hinges, although one more snowfall and one of the alphas in the house was going to send the door flying into the forest.

Pack members still liked to go for runs despite the weather which meant the pathways needed to be kept clear so they could do so.

"We should all invest in treadmills." I huffed and Nina threw me a sympathetic smile. Despite the fact that Nina had insisted I should stay inside and let the others shovel I had been the one to say I wanted to help, and now I was paying the price. It felt like my arms were going to fall off, and my nose was so cold it might have actually fallen off and I wouldn't have noticed.

"Pari go inside if you want to baby." My mom said, somehow looking as perfect as ever despite shovelling snow which was up to her waist. Not a silky hair out of place.

"This is good exercise." My dad said and for just a second I wanted to throw my shovel at him. My eye twitched as I resisted the urge, choosing instead to continue shovelling snow.

"We're almost done, Pari why don't you go move everyone's cars back into the driveway." My mother suggested and I nodded, removing my mittens to head inside to grab all of our keys.

All of us together had pushed all the cars out of the driveway to shovel the snow up there, and then headed around the house to shovel the snow on the nearest pathways without moving them back in. The trails were too thin for the large snow blowers we had.

I walked through the house to the little table that stood near the door, on it in a little leaf shaped bowl all the keys were. I grabbed them up, putting them in my pocket and heading out. Yanking my hat a bit lower since it had started to slip back. The little pom poms that hung off of it swaying around in the wind as I opened up the front door to step out, careful not to open it too wide since I was afraid it might actually fall off.

My eyes widened as I glanced up only to look straight into dark grey eyes. A small smile bloomed on the face of the owner of the eyes, the dark grey seeming to soften with the effects of the smile.

He looked part of a painting standing there in his black coat, dark jeans and black shoes in contrast to everything else being covered with a thick layer of white snow. Cheeks flushed with the cold, pinkened right at the very tops of his cheekbone, nose slightly reddened right at the tip. Mouth having gone a deeper pink bordering red. My eyes trailed down to see his large hands stuffed into his pockets. He wasn't even wearing gloves. Grabbing him by the arm I pulled him in. The man coming along without resistance.

My mind only caught up with my actions as the man finally spoke up, my face heating up despite how cold it was. I blushed red in embarrassment at having manhandled the Alpha into my home.

"Hello Parisa." Alpha Mrow said quietly, not seeming at all perturbed by my manhandling. I yanked my hand away immediately mumbling apologies under my breath.

"It's just it's very cold out there, and you don't have gloves on or a hat, like mine. Or not like mine considering I've never seen an alpha in pom poms. I didn't want you to freeze, I don't even know how long you've been out there but you've gone a little pink so I'm guessing it's been a while. We've been around the back so we didn't hear. We weren't doing it on purpose, I promise. Also hello Alpha Mrow." I finished off, unable to stop my mouth from running, my face heating up as I realized not only had I grabbed the Alpha but also rambled like an idiot.

"Very thoughtful of you, and I don't know about others alphas, but personally I really like pom poms." Alpha Mrow said, leaning in to whisper the last bit to me, my eyes widening at his proximity while I stared straight at the second button of his coat. I looked up to check if he was joking or not but he still had that kind smile on his face although it was starting to look just a tad bit like a smirk which was for some damned reason even more attractive. It was a little rude of him to be this mind-numbingly good-looking in this type of weather, he could've had the decency to wait until spring.

"They add a little oomph to a hat." I responded, absolutely unable to keep from running my mouth.

"I'll keep that in mind next time I go hat shopping." The Alpha said, biting into his lip a little as he grinned, his dimple so deeply indented in his cheek it could be used to  drink hot cocoa out of.

"Hot drink." I said making his brows furrow in confusion. My stomach clenching as I stumbled for words trying to figure out how to get out of telling him I was fantasizing about drinking hot beverages out of his dimple.

"I should offer you a hot drink, I mean I am offering you a hot drink, hot cocoa, or warm milk or coffee. Coffee probably." I decided after a moment, he didn't look like a tea person to me. My mother lived off of coffee so it was probable that him being a Pack Alpha he also drank a lot of coffee.

"I'll have whatever you're having, you look like you could use something warm yourself." The Alpha said gently.

"I'm fine." I mumbled distractedly looking at the snow that was melting into his coat, which I should probably ask for.

"You're shaking." The Alpha said, his hands twitching as though he wanted to reach out but he refrained since he had manners unlike me and didn't go around grabbing wolves that he didn't know very well. I looked down to my hands to see they in fact were trembling. I tucked them into the pockets of my coat before giving the alpha an uneasy smile.

"Come in, please." I said, spinning around and leading him to the living room. Trying my best to keep my shoulders relaxed as I heard him walking behind me, following me so closely I felt that if I slowed he might step on the back of my foot. My shoulders were as stiff as the door my mother had nearly broken this morning. I came to a stop suddenly as I remembered my family was still outside. Including my mother who would like to know that an Alpha from another pack was visiting.

Unable to stop in time, he hit right into me, making me lose my balance and I would have gone stumbling to greet the floor face first had the alpha not wrapped an arm around my waist, keeping me upright. My eyes widened as I looked down at his arm, that sweet cinnamon scent completely enveloping me as the man was nearly plastered to my back. I tried my best not to focus on the feeling of a broad muscled chest against my back. Holding my breath I heard him inhale deeply before he stumbled back.

"I'm so sorry Parisa, are you alright?" He asked standing back, clutching his hands tightly together in front of him, all hints of a smile gone from his face. Brows furrowed and expression tinged with guilt as he looked down at me, hunching in on himself a little as I stood there silently. I let his scent fade a little before taking a breath.

"I'm fine, it's alright, you were just trying to keep me from falling." I said trying to ease his guilt, feeling a little desperate to get that kicked puppy look off his face. His eyes seemed so sad as he stared down at the floor making me feel like I was the one who needed to apologize.

"Please sit, I'm gonna call my mom, she'll want to know you're here." I said and he nodded still not glancing up at me. It was considered a little rude for an alpha to just grab an omega of another pack. It wasn't like he had been feeling me up though, just trying to keep me from breaking my nose.

Most wolves of other packs avoided unanticipated contact with other wolves since we were all very sensitive to scents and it made us uncomfortable to have the scent of a wolf who wasn't a member of our pack on us. But it was especially bad to just grab an omega since you came off as a pompous alpha who thought it was okay to touch omegas as you pleased. If we ever touched a member of another pack it was always when the other person would expect the touch, since considering how tactile we were it was almost impossible to communicate without touch for us.

"Alpha Mrow it's really alright." I said reaching out hesitantly to place a hand on the both of his. He glanced up, eyes so bright with hope as though I had promised him the world. He smiled at me before nodding and I took my hand off of his, waiting till he had sat down before hurrying to the back door.

I opened up the door getting everyone's attention. I raised a brow as I looked at Nina whose hair was nearly covered in snow, confused as to why that was until I saw Micah grinning madly. I was glad I'd come inside before Micah had decided to start attacking people with snowballs.

"Alpha Mrow is here." I said, looking at my mom, her open expression turning to one of confusion as she dropped her shovel, hurrying in, the others close on her heels.

I couldn't step aside in time and got shoved into the door as the broad alphas and my father tried to make their way past me. Micah laughed saying I looked like a squashed bug on the door and I made a mental note to eat the marshmallows off his hot chocolate when dad made us some.

"Alpha Mrow, it's very nice to see you, what brings you here?" My mom asked, the man standing up as soon as she entered the room. The both of them moving forwards to shake hands, everyone else pulling off their gloves to do the same.

"Actually I was close by picking up road salt. The Canadian Tire in between the territories has the best road salt and I bought a few bags for you as well. In case you hadn't been able to make it out." The Alpha said everyone staring at him blankly. Pack Alphas didn't just visit other packs unless it was absolutely vital, they definitely didn't go around playing Amazon.

"How thoughtful." My father said, making my mother also force a smile at the Alpha who looked so horribly uncomfortable standing there I wanted to put my pom pom hat on his head to cover him up a little.

"I apologize for coming unannounced. I just wanted to drop the road salt, and I should head back." The Alpha said.

"Nonsense, at least join us for some hot cocoa. It's freezing out, we can't let you go back without warming you up first." My father said, clearly my mom was just too baffled to even speak but she nodded along anyway.

"I don't want to impose." The Alpha said.

"You won't be." A voice said, and my eyes widened when everyone turned to look at me and I realized I had spoken. I blushed pink in embarrassment, letting my pom poms swing forward to hide my face from view, peeking up to see a little smile on the Alpha's face. The smile dropping as soon as he noticed how closely Nina was watching him. He cleared his throat, shuffling forward to shake the rest of our hands, grabbing mine in his last since I was standing behind everyone, keeping it between the both of his as he murmured a quiet "thank you".

I smiled up at him quickly, my father passing by and looking at our hands before quirking a brow at Alpha Mrow with a little smirk on his face making me want to bury my face into a pile of snow and stay there forever. He let go immediately, going to take a seat on the couch, Micah asking him for his coat as they all made their way out to take their own off.

Alpha Mrow took his coat off, to my absolute horror a little noise escaped me as I looked at the v-neck sweater he was wearing. It looked so soft and fit so well. The light grey colour of it bringing out the grey in his dark eyes.

"Pari." My father called and I speed walked out of the room towards the kitchen, grateful for the distraction. I wasn't sure if Alpha Mrow or Micah had heard the noise but in case they had I'd just have to murder myself before either of them could get the chance to approach me about it.

"Can you help me make the hot cocoa?" My dad asked and I nodded, stepping forward to grab the chocolate and marshmallows from the pantry but my father stopped me.

"Why don't you take all of this off first?" My father asked, gingerly holding one of the pom poms between his forefinger and thumb. I yanked it back from him giving him the stink eye for making fun of my hat making him chuckle.

I quickly took my jacket off, pulling my hat off and putting it in the pockets, unwrapping my scarf and hanging both on one of the chairs on the kitchen table before washing my hands. My dad turned on the fan of the stove and my hands clenched to the point of my knuckles going white, that meant no one in the other room would hear us. Meaning my dad could interrogate me.

"Do you like it?" My father asked suddenly.

"Him coming here? No, absolutely not, who just visits people on a Sunday? That's what Saturdays are for, this is actually so rude. I'm absolutely against meeting other people on Sundays, and that too not planning ahead." I whispered furiously, quite happy at how vehemently my words came out, there was absolutely no way anyone in my family would know I liked to smell Alpha Mrow and daydreamt about his dimples.

"I'm talking about the new hand soap." My father said, and I whirled around to look at him, but he was still calmly stirring the powder into the milk.

"Oh, well yeah it smells nice." I mumbled awkwardly.

"It's unscented." He said, and I just blinked at him.

"Which is why, because it like smells like us, instead of smelling like flowers or other stuff, I can still smell my hand and smell me." I tried.

"And also Alpha Mrow who shakes hands for a very long time don't you think?" My dad asked, glancing towards me, and I knew that face. That was the face he reserved for trying to act innocent when he was actually being manipulative. Lola hadn't just turned out to be terrifying, no she had inherited it from my father. But while Lola was openly scary, my dad hid behind his heaping mugs of hot cocoa.

"I don't think so, not more than average, I mean we're wolves, we're tactile. We touch." I said, absolutely refusing to fall into his game for once. This was how my dad got us to confess everything, if we ever did badly on a test in school and the teacher had called him, he would slowly question us into confessing it ourselves.

"We touch our packs, our families, but not others. I guess he's just very friendly." My father said, speaking lowly so the fan of the stove would keep our conversation from being heard.

"I guess so." I mumbled, pulling out the chocolate from the pantry and breaking off a piece to shove into my mouth. My father hummed softly in agreement and I nervously pushed another piece of the chocolate into my mouth, stuffing a marshmallow in as well when he turned to look at me. He grabbed two of the chocolate bars I'd taken out, leaving the opened one in my hand.

"Can you grate the chocolate into slithers?" My dad asked and I nodded, getting out the grater to get started. Relieved my dad hadn't continued with his questioning, I was a few marshmallows away from chocking or blurting it all out.

I carefully slid the chocolate bar down the grated until there was enough slithers for me to have some and for my dad to use. Deliberately doing the work slowly to seem busy not only to my dad but also to avoid going back there. It felt like my brain was still frozen and I couldn't think, not around normal people let alone those that smelled like sweet treats and had dimples.

The last thing I wanted was to come off as an even bigger idiot than I already had in front of the Alpha. Omegas still had to deal with that lasting impression of the opinion some people used to have of them being docile mindless little things and I didn't want to help that along.

I sulkily stuffed some of the chocolate slithers into my mouth before placing the bowl next to my dad. He offered me a small smile in gratitude and I tried my best to reciprocate, unsure of how convincing I had been.

My father carefully poured the hot cocoa into the six mugs I had set on our glass drink tray. Adding in marshmallows liberally and allowing them to melt for a moment before garnishing it with the chocolate slithers that only half melted into it.

"Would you take this out while I gather some snacks Parisa?" My dad asked and I nodded furiously, glad to have something to do instead of wandering back empty handed. When I was empty handed I sometimes got a little fidgety.

Apparently I was a little too enthusiastic though and picked the tray up too quickly making the drinks slosh dangerously. My father quirked a brow at me making my face pinken as I mumbled a half-hearted apology.

All eyes were on me as I walked in back to where everyone was sitting. I purposely went around the room so that I would get to Alpha Mrow last, hoping my face would go back to it's regular skin colour by that time. I lowered the tray in front of Micah first, immediately regretting not having eaten the marshmallows off his as he grabbed up a mug with a large grin.

I made my way over to where my mother and Nina were sitting, the both of them grabbing theirs with small smiles before finally turning to Alpha Mrow.

I held my breath as I walked over to him, not wanting to be assaulted with his scent once again. I lowered the tray in front of him and he leaned in to grab one of the mugs, glancing up at me from beneath unfairly thick black eyelashes, a small smile playing on his lips as he thanked me in that deep baritone. A tone so warm that it made the delicious hot cocoa seem cold and gaunt in comparison.

The breath I was holding gushed out of me at the sight and I couldn't help but internally grumble about why I was being tested by this being that somehow appealed so intensely to all my senses. Hearing, sight, smell, I couldn't help but wonder if that applied to taste as well.

"It's very sweet." The tray nearly dropped from my hands as the Alpha mumbled the words quietly, luckily he had grabbed onto the tray in time to keep it balanced otherwise we would have a Pack Alpha drenched in hot cocoa on our hands.

I stared at him in wide eyed terror. Maybe Josephine wasn't crazy after all. Maybe some wolves really did have special capabilities. Apparently Alpha Mrow's was to read minds. My hands shook a little as I realized what that meant, all my dimple daydreams and tasting fantasies had been heard.

"William is very liberal with the amount of chocolate he puts in. It's not to everyone's taste, we can get you something else if you'd like?" My mom spoke up softly making understanding dawn upon me. He had been saying the hot cocoa tasted very sweet, not himself.

"You meant the hot cocoa." I mumbled under my breath as I grabbed up the second last mug, going to take a seat next to Micah. Freezing as soon as I was seated as I had 4 pairs of eyes staring directly at me all with varying levels of confusion. My stomach dropped as I realized being wolves they had all heard me.

"I-I thought Alpha Mrow might have been referring to the road-salt he brought." I tried, adding in a little forced laugh but forgetting to contort my face into a smile.

Micah gave me an uneasy look before sniffing at his mug of hot cocoa, eyes darting between me and the mug.

"Nina can you smell yours? I can't tell whether or not the chocolate's gone bad." Micah asked and Nina took a delicate sniff of hers. Not having to answer as my dad walked in holding a plate of chocolate chip cookies in one hand and a tray of an assortment of dried fruit in the other.

"The chocolate's fine, I bought it just last week. The cold's still affecting Pari, drink up honey." My dad urged and I nodded lifting the mug to my mouth, but freezing with it at my lips when I made the mistake of looking towards the Alpha. Seeing his intense gaze trained on the rim of the mug. Looking down I took a quick sip, self-consciously licking over my lips after to ensure I had no chocolate or melted marshmallow on them. I peeked again at the Alpha once I'd placed the mug in my lap to see his eyes unmoved, my heart skipping a beat as I realized it wasn't the mug but my lips he had been staring at.

I sank back into the couch as I realized we weren't one of the unusual pairings in which only one individual was the potential of another. My heart rate picked up at the thought, garnering a concerned look from Nina who had always been more focused on sounds than the rest of us. Having such sensitive hearing, the rest of us learned to tune out the unnecessary sounds but Nina always paid attention to them, always alert the way a Pack Alpha should be.

"This is the best hot chocolate I have ever had." Alpha Mrow admitted after a moment of us all drinking in silence. A delighted smile bloomed on my father's face and I couldn't help but let a small smile of my own creep onto mine.

"Try a cookie with it, they're from the best bakery in town although we bought them yesterday so they're not as good as when they're fresh." My mom urged, the Alpha leaning forward to grab a cookie from the plate, biting into it and letting out a little sound that made my entire body stiffen. Somewhere between a hum and a groan and so very appreciative it made my hands twitch.

"I think I've had these before, but you are right Alpha Warina, these are amazing." The Alpha said, eating his cookie far too neatly for someone who didn't often have cookies from Zeenat's family's bakery. Most first-timers gobbled them up in mere seconds.

"Your mother used to visit the pack alone when you were quite young. I'm assuming she may have bought some on her visits to take back to you." My mom explained.

"She has always loved to travel." The Alpha said, his smile dimming to something more polite, practised-looking.

"That she has, I'm glad she's getting the chance to do so now that she's passed her title to you. Do you have any idea when she'll next be back?" My mom asked, a fond smile on her face.

"Seeing as she's already left the continent again I'd say not for some time. In her last letter she mentioned something about a ritual in Thailand amongst the elders of the collaborating packs there." The Alpha said quietly, forcing his lips to curve up into a smile at the end. The deep dimple that showed when he usually smiled absent. The smile on his face lacking the warmth and genuine mirth it usually had, something cold seeping into his tone.

"Have you ever gotten the chance of travelling far Alpha Mrow?" I asked, hoping to redirect the conversation to something that would be a bit more pleasant for him to speak of.

"I did a few semesters abroad while in university." The Alpha admitted, his smile softening as he turned to look at me, eyes loosing the hard edge they had to them mere moments ago, but dimple yet to reappear.

"Where?" I asked inquisitively, leaning in slightly towards him.

"I did two semesters in South Korea, and one in Spain." Alpha Mrow said. I tilted my head slightly waiting for him to elaborate and he shifted forwards in his seat as he humoured my silent request.

"They were both extraordinary, but wildly different experiences. I tried to learn some Korean but I wasn't fluent, the people were very nice though and most knew quite a bit of English so I got by just fine. The food there was amazing, it's ruined some foods for me forever because I keep comparing it to what I had there." The Alpha said, grinning at Micah and telling him he had to try it when Micah admitted he had always wanted to try Korean spicy fried chicken.

"Spain is beautiful, and my Spanish is better than my Korean so I had an easier time talking to people there. They're also very tactile in Spain, the humans too so it was easier to create bonds with them. I was there while it was the worst of winter here so the weather made me not want to return, other than missing the pack of course." The Alpha admitted, a small grin on his face as though he were remembering his time there. He kept his eyes on me as he spoke and I couldn't help but smile back, my gaze locked on his as he spoke, noticing the way he tilted his entire body towards me. We stared at each other in silence for a moment with matching grins on our faces.

"Surely you have some adventures from Spain to share with us." My mother said, the Alpha turning to look at her as though only just remembering she were there, but he recovered quickly, bowing his head in a charming display of bashfulness as he rubbed at the back of neck showing his hesitancy.

"Go on Alpha Mrow we won't judge." My mom encouraged and the Alpha nodded once showing us his resolve had melted.

"I tried some extreme sports while I was there, but even the extreme sports of humans' seem a bit tame compared to the exercise us wolves regularly do. They were fun all the same though. One of my very good friends and I went together to study in Spain. He went there recently with his mate for vacation. We were both 21 at the time and naturally took it as a challenge that wolves couldn't get drunk as easily as humans. According to him our pictures are still up at the bar in which we both got extremely drunk once for breaking their drinking record. It's not a fond memory though considering how sick we were the next day." The Alpha said, his eyes having drifted back over to me. I giggled softly at the grimace on his face as he spoke of how sick he had been, the expression melting to reveal a small warm smile as the Alpha heard the sound.

I could just imagine what a 21 year old Alpha Mrow would be like. Just as devastatingly handsome but in a slightly less refined way. A bit more boyish, and carefree. Hair perhaps just a tad longer allowing them to wave the way they seemed to naturally do had his hair not been short enough to appear straight. He would be just as broad but not yet so muscled. Skin a little tan due to the hot weather.

I could envision him walking down a warm night under the clear starry sky. Attracting attention the way he did now, but for the casual charm he exuded then. A short sleeved button up, buttoned only half-way to compensate for the warm weather, a light colour, a pale pink perhaps to emphasize how pretty his fair skin and perfectly carved features were. A bit of a smirk curving up those lips, not in a cocky way, but a calm self-assurance. Shorts underneath the shirt, a dark blue, allowing his muscled calves to show underneath with sneakers that only made his movements seem more agile and athletic. The magnetism he had now present then but accompanied by a boyish charm.

A throat cleared making me jump realizing I had been staring at Alpha Mrow in a daze for god knows how long. A blistering hot palm was placed on my forehead and I gave Micah a blank look as he moved his hand to his own forehead to compare temperatures.

"What does it mean if her forehead's kinda cold, that's bad too right?" Micah asked reaching over to place his hand on my head again but I batted his hand away making his frown.

"No Micah, it's just because you run very hot, Pari's just fine." My father reassured but Micah didn't look very convinced, still staring at me with a wary expression as though expecting me to burst into hives at any moment.

"I'm fine." I mumbled to him, placing my own drained mug onto the drinks tray, and grabbing Micah's which still had a little bit of hot cocoa making him let out a noise in protest which I ignored. I grabbed my mom and Nina's mugs as well getting eerily identical looks of concern from the both of them. My father had a small smirk on his face but he let me save face by not making eye-contact with me.

"Are you done Alpha Mrow?" I asked as I stood before him, hearing Micah putter indignantly from behind.

"Yes, thank you Parisa." The Alpha said, carefully handing me his empty mug which I also put in the drinks tray before lifting it up and taking it into the kitchen.

I came back just as Alpha Mrow mentioned something about heading out, the rest of my family standing as they followed him out of the living room. Micah got his coat out from the closet where he had hung it, handing it to Alpha Mrow who gave him a small smile and looked away making me blink in astonishment. He wasn't one of the Alphas that took eye-contact as a challenge.

"It was very nice having you over Alpha Mrow. I hope you have a safe trip home." My mother said stepping forwards to shake hands with the Alpha. My father shook his hand wordlessly, only a little smile on his face as Alpha Mrow again mentioned the hot cocoa. Nina bid the Alpha a safe trip as well, and Micah only asked if the Alpha knew a good place to get Korean food near here. The Alpha admitting he hadn't had much luck despite trying a few places.

The Alpha came to stand before me, simply smiling down for a moment before holding his large hand out for me to take. I glanced up at him, placing mine within his, allowing for a smile of my own to quirk up my lips.

"As always Parisa it was very nice seeing you." Letting my hand slip from his after giving it a soft warm shake, his palms calloused but his hold gentle.

"It was very nice seeing you too. Drive safe." I said, before taking a reluctant step back, casting my eyes down again.

"Thank you for having me, I hope to return your hospitality soon." The Alpha said as he left, my mom shutting the door after him just as I'd noticed how incredibly broad his shoulders appeared from the back and how well his coat fit.

I followed the others back into the living room, going to grab a cookie immediately. I pressed one into Micah's hand as well who stood behind me gazing upwards at god knows what.

"Thanks." He said with a surprised grin. The best way to make Micah happy was giving him food, or asking him about his boring plans for whatever he was working on at the time at his architecture firm. He could talk about them for hours. At first we'd all been afraid letting Micah take charge of building structures meant there would be a significant increase in news of humans being crushed in collapses but he was good at his job. He'd quickly been promoted because of it too.

We stood there munching on our cookies as the others fixed the pillows, Nina tossing some apricots into her mouth standing off to the side. All 4 of us siblings had developed a bad habit of attacking the food when people left since often pack members came over to talk to my parents and we weren't allowed there. Consequently also not allowed near the food my parents put before the pack members until they left.

Micah pressed the palm of his hand against the underside of my jaw, placing his other hand on his own giving me a worried look at the temperature difference. Micah, my mom and Nina were walking furnaces, which is why they were the best to cuddle with, especially mom.

"Parisa why don't you change into something warmer. I know I run hot but she's really cold." Micah said and I shrugged at him, Nina nodding along. Micah pushed me out of the room by my shoulders making me laugh as I stumbled in front of him, nearly tripping over the corner of the couch, hitting my toe into it making me yelp. Having heard that from the kitchen my mom yelled for Micah to stop harassing me. I twisted around to stick my tongue out at him and he flicked my nose making me scowl.

He gave me a shove towards the stairs and I almost choked on my cookie but managed to get it down the right way. With the thought of Micah getting to know I almost choked and performing an unnecessary Heimlich maneuver on me I hurried up the stairs.

I heard the sound of the water being turned on as one of them probably decided to wash the dishes. The fridge opened and I crossed my fingers hoping it was mom deciding to cook. Her cooking was better than any takeout.

I made my way down the hallway passed all the rooms to get to mine, throwing my door open. The toe I had hit into the couch still hurting a little and I looked down at it, my lips jutted out gloomily. Trying to use my feet to shove my socks off unsuccessfully as I closed the door, turning around only to freeze at what I saw.
