✧˚ chapter two˚✧

THE MORNING SUN shines on klaus as he enters hayley's room whilst she's asleep. he holds the vial of wolfsbane from her bag, examining the scent. hayley gets up, speaking.

"I didn't use it." she assures and klaus feels relief flush over him. he claimed numerous times that it was a mistake but the second hayley actually does what he insinuated so many times he broke.

"you're awake." he says, and she understands that he's asking why she is awake in the first place.

"I could barely sleep all night. this house is like a freaking sauna." she complained, sitting up in the bed and klaus stares absentmindedly out the window.

"what stopped you? you could have been free of all of this..." he looks down, "of me."

if the young wolf is being honest with herself, there was no reason that she knows of. it's as if it was second hand nature, protecting her little baby. "well... when I was fighting off those vampires, I – I realized I wasn't just protecting myself. maybe it has to do with the fact that my birth parents gave me up, and my adopted parents kicked me out. all I know is push came to shove, and... I realized I wouldn't let anyone hurt it."

klaus smiles slightly at her, answering carefully. "I'm beginning to think we're a lot alike, you and I. we're both castoffs who have learned to fight when we're backed into a corner."

"well, we're backed into a corner now."

"ah, that we are. It's time to fight... little wolf." klaus gently placed a hand on the brunette's shoulder and then backs away, ready to leave.

"this whole thing with marcel— the deal you have with the witches, trying to take him down, take what's his— rebekah told me that you two once loved each other like family. what happened?" she asked, curiosity getting the best of her.

"I made marcel everything that he is. I treated him like a son. and when my father chased me and my family from new orleans a hundred years ago, we believed marcel was killed— we each mourned him, in our own way. yet, when I returned, I found that not only had he survived, he had thrived. Instead of seeking us out, instead of sticking together as one, he made a choice to take everything my family had built and make it his own. now, he is living in our home, he is sleeping in our beds. that 'M' he stamps everywhere—" before he can finish the sentence the brunette interrupts him, obviously eavesdropping.

"It's for 'mikaelson'." she finishes for him and he rolls his eyes at her presence.

"I wasn't aware we were running a charity." klaus fires at her and she glances at him mockingly. "I do have a question, however, how is it that you can do magic and not fear marcel." she sighs and steps into the room.

"I don't practice ancestral magic. while i have no idea how marcel knows how every witch is doing magic, I know that he can only track the magic that we take up from our ancestors." the hybrid, clearly intrigued, nods and scarlett is going to talk before the wolf speaks up.

"wait, you're —" hayley tries but is cut off by scarlett herself.

"different." the hazel eyed hybrid smiles and then begins to exit the room, closer to scarlett, "I was just leaving. was also going to thank you for making me stay the night but I don't think that's necessary anymore." she then faces hayley, with a warm smile, "you have my number, hayls."

the instant scarlett turns on her heel, klaus vamp speeds in front of her. "and how am I to trust that you won't babble on to marcel. you'll be staying here. at least till my plan is fully executed." he concludes, not giving sky any chance to have a say in the matter. but she speaks up anyways.

"I have kids... and friends. I have a job. I can't stay cooped up here because you're of your paranoid hybrid ass." before she can walk away he speed right in front of her once more.

"you know, many would die and insufferable death because of your last statement, however; I do happen to enjoy you. meaning, your kids can come too, if they must, it's safest in the compound. and you most certainly don't need money when you have the originals to compel your every desire, now do you, love?" he smirks, seeing as she's backed at a corner and can't really say no to the offer, she sighs and groans, hitting her head backwards.

"I'm going to pick up my kids." she states and runs out before he can even think of saying that someone else will do it. she, at least, needs her stuff from her house.

scarlett's point of view

getting to cami's house, I knock on the door and she opens with a tired expression on her face, elli in her arms, sobbing.

my eyes widen at the sight and guilt flows almost instantly into me. I can't believe I let her stay like that the whole night with no sleep.

"oh my— cami, are you alright? did you get any sleep? I am so sorry." I ramble and she smiles softly at me, giving me the young girl in her arm.

"yes, I did. they were just little pranksters this morning. my whole face was covered in makeup when I woke up." me and her break into a fit of laughter at the kids' prank as she tells me more of their time.

"uh, look, I'll be staying somewhere different for the next few... I don't know, actually. a while though. so if you need anything, call and I'll be here right away." she nods and we say our goodbyes before I put the girls in their stroller and then start walking to the motel where I've been staying at for the past three months.

"hello, love." someone says from behind me and I sigh, telling the girls to stay inside their stroller.

"are you everywhere I go, klaus?" I tease and he only smirks at me, walking closer to us and then in front of the girls.

"well..." he jokes and I let out a small laugh, a scoff subsided with it. "I wish no harm to your kids, or to you. I, however, need you to be truthful if you will stay at the compound under our name and protection." he says and i nod once, indicating for him to ask his question, "what are you?"

"I said it once, i'm—" he cuts me off with a huff and steps close to me.

"different, yes. but what actually are you? I can not have you under my roof with the woman carrying my child if i do not know anything about you, including your species." he warns, stepping even closer to me, now the stroller is next to me and our bodies are dangerously close.

"I would never harm hayley. I stopped her from killing your child in the first place." i defend and turn back but he second i look behind me, he's right there.

"you understand that i should kill you right this second, correct?" he threatens and my face drops. I wonder why he just enjoys threatening my life in every conversation i have with him.

"I am not a threat to you, klaus! besides, you wont kill me. not with my four-year-old children right here." klaus is a powerful being, some might even say the most puissant in the world. but the original hybrid stands no chance against me, not even in the slightest.

"don't be so sure." he whispers in my ear and takes off before i can even notice. this is all my fault. getting involved in the most dangerous thing happening. damn it, i thought i could be good for my kids this time, but whenever im in new orleans i immediately attract trouble. and the mikaelsons have trouble written all over them.

third point of view

"hey hayls!" sky exclaims and the young wolf makes her way to the brunette with twins and three full bags.

"oh my god, your kids are adorable." hayley complimented, not even giving a thought to the girl right in front of her or the bags she's holding.

"as much as i love a good complement about my DNA i would appreciate it if you first told me where in this wretched place i'll be putting my bags?" scarlett felt the need to stay with hayley now more than ever. the young wolf needs so much assistance at this time in the pregnancy, especially with having a miracle mikaelson baby.

"now now, darling, that's no way to talk about your hosts!" rebekah teases and sky giggle lightly as she takes the bags away.

"come on, my brother chose this room for you personally." the blond says, looking at scarlett as if saying 'what's happening?' but she really has no idea. sky shrugs at her and gets the girls out of their stroller and into the room.

afterwards, she snaps her finger and the room changes into a baby blue themed one. the room in her old house. "now, I need to ask." the words roll out of the girl's mouth before she can think them over so she mentally curses at herself.

"go on, sky." she encourages and a smile makes into way onto her face, making her feel more at ease

"uh, how do I know I can trust you guys. I'm here for hayls and klaus made it clear that he doesn't give a damn about my well-being. can I trust you, rebekah? my kids can't grow up without a mother because klaus mikaelson was paranoid. please." she tried to cover the desperation in her voice but it was there, protruding. she knows that's she needs at least one mikaelson that likes her on her side in this house.

"of course, darling. you are under no harm in this household... unless you harm us of course." both girls smile and sky pulls her into a hug rebekah didn't expect, nevertheless, she hugs back with full force.

if the young mother is being honest with herself, which she always tries to be, she doesn't feel any danger from the mikaelsons, not to mention that it's known how they stick to their word, so she feels much calmer than other poeple would.

rebekah excuses herself and runs downstairs where sky assumes she'll be leaving. the witch mutters a spell and starts hearing everything perfectly from downs stairs whilst accommodating her daughters into their small beds.

"you were right. the girl, cami — she's the key. marce likes her, and because of that I got to see the secret weapon of his that you've been going on about." rebekah says to klaus and that's when scarlett drops the phone from her hand. what the hell does camille have anything to do with this? she and cami might have lost a bit of contact but sky cares for her and can not put her in harm's way.

"well, don't stand on ceremony. what is it?" he impatiently urges.

"it's not a 'what', it's a 'who'. a girl, davina. she can't be more than sixteen, and I have never felt power like that." sky smirks at the statement before shrugging. they haven't seen power like that because she hasn't showed them her full potential. not to mention that davina is the only living harvest girl.

"a witch." he confirms and rebekah is quick to step in.

"she's not just any witch, she's something I've never seen before, something beyond powerful, and now because of you she has elijah. who knows what she could do to him." rebekah didn't want to show it, but the original vampire is frantic about someone else having her brother, someone as powerful as that witch.

"where is she?" klaus asks and rebekah stops to think for a moment then looks at him in confusion.

"that clever—" before she can finish her statement sky steps in with the conversation between the originals siblings.

"you might need another witch to help you with that." she says and klaus looks at them with furrowed eyebrows.

"what's the matter?" he questions and rebekah looks at him in a bewildered manner, clearly unsettled by the moves that the witch pulled on her.

"she wiped my memory of the location. marcel possesses a weapon bigger and more powerful than an original, and you handed our brother to him!" the blond yells frantically and sky stands next to her.

"okay, how about we just fix you so we can take back elijah from the girl." sky didn't particularly fancy the original family, but she wanted, more than anything, to gain their trust if they were to protect her and her baby girls.

"I think I know which spell she used, it'll take a while before I can break it, but I can do it." The brunette adds.

"and you'll help us, because?" klaus questions and sky groans in agitation.

"seriously? this again? because rebekah is my friend. elijah is important to her. and to you. I'll help because you guys are taking care of my girls even if it's for selfish, paranoid reasons. I don't need a reason to help you anymore, I'm on your side. who wouldn't mind the original family ruling new orleans, after all, marcel made it a hell hole for witches." the two siblings look beyond convinced and they all go their separate ways.

★ ★ ★

"what are you reading?" scarlett asks hayley as she plops next to her on the floor, her head on the wolf's lap.

"don't tell anyone. they're elijah's journals." she whispers, knowing that there are vampires with supernatural hearing everywhere.

"read." scarlett says in a feathery voice and the wolf starts narrating.

"august thirteen fifty-nine. I have noticed a difference in my siblings. our bond strains beneath the pressure of our life as vampires. each day removes them further from the humanity we once possessed. my sweet sister, rebekah, has grown quite indifferent to brutality. however, the true problem remains my brother, niklaus. he continues to hide his loneliness with cruelty. still, I cling to the hope that I, as their eldest brother, can lead them down the correct path, a path charged with the power of a family united. for if I fail, our family's legacy will end in darkness." hayley closes the book instantly feeling it become too personal to share with two girls he hardly even knows.

"God, they really put him in a spiral. I feels bad for him, even more that klaus gave him as a bargaining chip." sky felt remorseful even though she had nothing to do with the vile ways klaus handled everything.

both girls leave the book on the table and leave but before exiting, sky snaps her fingers and the book teleports to her own room.

they walk downstairs finding rebekah and klaus walking into the foyer.

"I cannot believe you disposed of those vampires without me. you know how I love to set things on fire!" sky holds in a laugh and klaus smirks widely.

"was I supposed to leave them in the front yard to rot? besides, they were my responsibility. they attacked the helpless pregnant girl who's carrying my child!" he yelled, frustrated.

"hey! she's not helpless, for your information. you should have seen her fight the guy." sky interrupts, as hayley shoved her shoulder jokingly.

"hello, love." klaus smirks once more, moving closer to us and hayley rolls her eyes.

"whats the plan, exactly?" hayley asks and klaus chuckles lightly.

"well, that depends what plan you mean, love— my plan for global domination, or rebekah's plan to find love in a cruel, cruel world?" rebekah gives him a death stare before grabbing a pencil front the desk beside her and throws it in Klaus' direction. klaus catches it easily before it can embed itself in his face with a mocking expression then sets it down.

"the plan to rescue elijah. you know, the good brother? the one who is now in the possession of your mortal enemy after you stabbed him in the back?" hayley specifies and klaus's smirk returns instantaneously.

"In the front, if we're being specific." he says and sky rolls her eyes.

"no one is being specific, also, I need to get started with rebekah, I have no idea how long this can take." scarlett says and the three nod then hayley speaks.

"and then what? you go against the teenage witch?" she asks so I look at the originals for guidance.

"actually, while you are trying here, something that may fail, I'll be simply asking marcel for elijah." klaus confidently adds and the two girl look at him in shock.

"you have go to be kidding me—" sky tries and hayley retorts quickly.

"okay but there must be an actual plan? what if he simply says no? what then?" Hayley asks and rebekah smirks.

"well then that brings us to plan b." she assures, looking at klaus.

"which is?" sky wonders.

"war."

★ ★ ★

"okay, let's do this." scarlett starts, hayley and rebekah sitting next to her.

"co je to za kouzlo. co je to za kouzlo. co je to za kouzlo." she chants and all of a sudden she screams then falls down, unconscious.

hayley runs to her side, holding her in her arms, checking her pulse. "what the hell?" the wolf yells at no one particular and rebekah sighs, walking around.

"that witch must be too strong." she thinks and hayley puts sky on the couch and gets up next to the vampire.

"then what do we do?" hayley asks and rebekah sighs then looks back up.

"she'll be down for a while, we need to activate plan b." the blonde says and open the phone, walking out and warning hayley to stay inside.

hayley waits twenty minutes and scarlett finally gets up, rubbing her head and groaning.

"what happened? where's rebekah?" she asked as soon as she got up. she quickly felt a massive headache and sat back down.

"I remember— davina. the girl, she put a protective spell around her other one. I recognize it. she more powerful than we thought."

there's only one way now. it's time for war.
