Chapter 4

Road to Beacon

Later on, that night after (Y/n) got sucker punched in the face by Kyon, Star was currently in his room having a chat with him.

Star: You know that wasn't very nice of you Kyon. You didn't have to punch the poor kid.

Kyon: If he was huntsman then he should've blocked it.

Star: In training, Huntsman in training, that means he is still learning how to become one, hell you were the same way.

Kyon: Tch.

Star: Look I get it, you're not big on new people but you need to get out of that headspace and actually make friends.

Kyon: Friends disappoint me.

Star: Then what am I to you?

Kyon: My only family.

Star sighed looking at him before ruffling his hair up a bit.

Star: I understand that your past is preventing you from making friends, however not everyone is like her, like me I wasn't, and I can guarantee you he's not either. All (Y/n) wants to do is get home to his friends, this could be a bigger opportunity for both of us. But he can't get there without us.

Kyon: ...

Star: C'mon Kyon, we've been living like this for a while now. It's time to change things up for the better.

Kyon: Star.

Star: It will be okay, I assure you and if not we can come back but you have to give it a chance at least for me.

Kyon sighed giving into Star's request to take the new guy to Beacon.

Kyon: Fine.. just-

He was tackled into a bear hug by Star who lifted him up and spun him around.

Kyon: Aye! Stop it!

He punched Star on the top of her head making her let go.

Kyon: Go tell the new guy we're leaving in the morning.

Star was super excited she basically ran through the wall to tell (Y/n) great news, leaving Kyon in his room. Kyon walked over to his bed sitting on it and running his hands through his hair.

Kyon: You better be right about this Demon.. I don't want to be alone again and have to go through this again.

-TimeSkip-

~At Beacon~

Weiss woke up in (Y/n)'s bed in tears from the night before, his voice never left her mind. The door swung open to see Ruby standing there looking at her teammate. 

Ruby: Weiss what're you doing here, why are you crying? 

Weiss: I just miss him; this is where I come to calm down and think. He should be here, not me. 

Ruby: Weiss- 

Weiss: NO! (Y/N) SHOULD BE HERE! AT BEACON AND I SHOULD BE DEAD!! 

Ruby stumbled back from Weiss' outburst looking down at her friend in pity knowing how she feels. 

Weiss: If I was... If I was stronger... I was the only won who could've done anything, I was the ONLY ONE!!

More tears streamed down her face; Ruby hugged her friend letting her cry her heart out, Weiss has blamed herself for everything after that mission no matter how she looked at it. (Y/n) meant the absolute world to her and she never told him how she felt. Her knight in shining armor now dead because of her own weakness. 

Ruby: We are worried about you Weiss, you haven't been eating or socializing with us either. I know (Y/n) being gone has impacted you a lot, but we need y-

Weiss: You don't understand.

Ruby: Understand what?

Weiss: I'm in love with him Ruby! I always was. 

Ruby: Oh Weiss. 

Weiss: I just don't know what to do without him here. He was different he saw me as a normal person and not some dirty Schnee, he understood me. I want to hold him in my arms, see his eyes just one more time so I can tell him exactly how I feel even if he rejects me. At least I can be content with that. 

Ruby's heart hurt seeing her friend in this much pain, but it wasn't unjust, if anything Ruby understood exactly how she felt especially when it comes to (Y/n). Ruby was in love with him not just because he was strong and would bring her baked cookies from time to time, but because (Y/n) made her heart soar without even trying. Working on weapons together, countless times training, and missions. Ruby told (Y/n) everything regarding her past even her mom. He held her close that day explaining how he understands her and no matter what he'll always be there to protect her. 

Ruby: You'll see him again one day, not now or later. I'm positive (Y/n) wouldn't want to see you like this now. 

Weiss: But at least he'd be here with everyone else. 

Ruby slapped Weiss across the face which caused her to hold her cheek in pain. 

Ruby: I know you're sad Weiss, I am too however the case is (Y/N) is no longer with us and it's our job as huntresses to persevere through it every obstacle! Even if we lose the ones we love. (Y/n) (L/n) would not want you to be like this Weiss! Become stronger so you will never have to lose anyone again, so we have no more (Y/n)s! No matter how many times you fall and break I will be here to pick up the pieces, as team leader and your friend I will make sure you are at your best! 

Weiss stood there in shock hearing her words, Ruby has truly grown up from the dolt she was to actually being mature- 

Ruby: Alright Cookie Time!! Let's go Ice queen. 

Weiss: I spoke too soon. 

Before Weiss left the room, she took one more good look at his broken sword closing the door slowly. 

-Back with (Y/n)- 

Star, Kyon and (Y/n) were on the way to Beacon, Star and (Y/n) were chatting it up like old friends who haven't seen each other in years with Kyon leading the way. Kyon was deep in thought remembering his past before shaking his head looking down letting his hair cover his face. 

(Y/n): Still can't believe you convinced him.

Star: It wasn't hard just needed a little chat with him is all. 

(Y/n): Still, considering he sucker punched me in the face then in the next few hours agrees to take us to Beacon. 

Star: I guess you can say Magic. 

He rolled his eyes laughing but looked at Kyon still wondering why he doesn't talk much or trust people. 

(Y/n): You know what, how do I know more about Star than the actual person that was willing to save me? At least you could tell me why you don't trust people Mr. Grumpy. 

Kyon: My story means absolutely nothing to you, I agreed to take you to Beacon for that Demon next to you, it has nothing to do with you. 

(Y/n): Well, this "Demon" is a better person than you'll ever be then you wonder why you have no friends.

Kyon stopped in his tracks turning around looking (Y/n) in the eyes as he looked pissed then his body was covered in orange lightning as his eyes lit up a bit.

Star: Kyon-

Kyon: You think you have the right to say that? I saved your life, the reason I don't have friends is because they disappoint, no matter what promises they make! Once they find someone new, you're left in the dark, just because you go to Beacon that does not mean you have the right to dictate what I do when it comes to the term "Friends" nor who I consider a friend! 

The air seemed to get thinner the more Kyon spoke as he got closer to (Y/n). The lighting around his body seemed to raise as well as his hair. 

Kyon: You're born alone and die alone in this world no matter how many so-called friends you have, and I will never forget that. EVER AGAIN! 

(Y/n): 'I wonder who hurt him that badly.' 

Kyon: You think you're better than me because you have that? You'll never know what it means to be alone. 

Out of nowhere a Beowulf appeared out of the bushes for Kyon to strike it down in a blink of an eye. Kyon sighed deeply dropped the dead Grimm calming himself down before walking ahead of them again. 

Star grabbed (Y/n) by putting a hand on his shoulder.

Star: Two things; One good job getting him to talk to you but bad timing. I know that was probably part of your plan to make him open up somewhat, which did work, however if he wanted to take out your own heart and leave it in a shopping bag he would. Two Kyon distances himself because of the only person he truly considered a friend did the unthinkable. They stabbed him in the back figuratively and literally. 

(Y/n): Why? 

Star shrugged looking at Kyon walking away angrily. 

Star: I wish I had the answer to that one kid, but let's catch up so we don't get left behind. 

(Y/n): This makes me want to help him more. 

Star turned giving (Y/n) a smile. 

Star: I sincerely hope you can, I've done all I can for him even though I will never leave the guy I'm the only family he has. I trust you'll find a way to help him. 

(Y/n) nodded following behind the two now with a new mission.
