Chapter 2:

The After Effects

The teams finally made it back to beacon to be met with a crowd of students and professors. Once they stepped off the bullhead all they heard was cheering and whistling but they weren't loud enough to forget the fact that (Y/n) is now gone because they were too weak.

Team Rwby was the last team to get off the bullhead being met with familiar faces then a certain bunny faunus ran up to them

Velvet: Hey guys welcome back, I'm glad you're all okay.

She smiled looking at the broken team, they never accounted how to tell her about (Y/n)'s death.

Ruby: Vel-

Velvet: Where's (Y/n)?

The entire team gulped not knowing how to answer the question

Yang: U-Uhmm he's-

Velvet: Probably napping he's always known for sleeping after a huge missions-

Weiss: He's gone Velvet!

Apparently all the side conversations stopped and everyone looked at the heiress.

Velvet: What..what do you mean he's-

Weiss: I'm sorry Velvet...but he's gone.

Weiss was on the verge of tears as the image flashed in her head again. Fact is, without him sacrificing himself none of them were going to make it back home, the mission was a success because of him.

Velvet: N-No he can't be. You're lying, YOU'RE A LIAR! (Y/N) COME OUT THIS ISN'T FUNNY!

There was no response just looks of sorrow, Velvet charged to go inside the bulhead but Weiss and Ruby stopped her.

Velvet: LET ME GO, LET ME GO!! (Y/N) GET OUT HERE NOW!!

Ruby: He's not coming back Velvet he's gone, I'm sorry

Weiss and Ruby went in for a hug only for her to push out of it with tears streaming down her face. This was a huge pill to swallow.

Her best friend, someone who knew her inside and outside, the person she grew up with, the guy who she always loved was no gone, she didn't even get the chance to tell him how she really felt about him.

Fox Alistair, a teammate and current boyfriend to Velvet walked up to her placing a hand on her shoulder to calm her down, she quickly turned and pushed him away

Velvet: Don't touch me! I want to be left alone.

After that she ran off completely and utterly heartbroken, without a doubt the only person that could fix that would be none other than (Y/n).

Yang: Just give her some space Fox, she'll come to you once she's ready.

Fox could only sigh before walking after his broken girlfriend. By the time Fox left Ozpin appeared in front of the crowd with his coffee in hand.

Ozpin: Team RWBY, JNPR, and SSSN please follow me to my office.

The teams did they were told Weiss stayed to herself behind everyone, she was going to have it the worst for awhile. All she could think about was his face, the fact that she was a snow angel to him and not ice queen.

-In Ozpin's office-

Ozpin: I heard the mission was a success, I am very glad you all made it back somewhat safe and sound.

Blake: Not all.

Ozpin turned his head to see Blake, her hand was tightened into a fist.

Blake: We lost someone important! Without him we wouldn't have gotten out! He sacrificed his life so we could survive and all you can say is, "Glad you all made it back"!

Ozpin: Miss Belladonna, I understand you're angry, frustrated and even heartbroken, but however the case may be Mr. (L/n) made his choice for the greater good. Now we need to move forward.

Nora: Professor Ozpin, what did you send us into? That wasn't like any of your normal missions.. there were stronger grimm than any of us could've imagined.

Ren: They were taller, stronger, faster, more intelligent.

Jaune: We wouldn't have gotten out of there.

Ozpin: There's a lot of things can happen out there on the battlefield, that I couldn't have anticipated. I do apologize for sending kids out there. The twelve of you will resume classes at a later date, for now I need you to rest and prepare for more intensive training, I fear this isn't the last we'll see of those monsters.

They all hesitated but ended up walking out of his office leaving the headmaster of Beacon confused on the next move to make.

Ozpin: 'What could you be planning...'

-TimeSkip-

Days has passed since they arrived back at school Team SSSN wasn't that affected by (Y/n)'s passing unlike the others. Team JNPR: Ren and Nora continued to be okay they've always had each other to rely on whenever this sorta thing happens. Jaune did his best to comfort Pyrrha, she was devastated alright. This is the 2nd person she's failed to save out of her entire life. Although she never had a romantic attraction to (Y/n) she respected him, he was strong and smart, very kind and compassionate towards her or anyone he knew it just sucks because in this moment she felt weak.

Pyrrha: 'I'm such a failure..I'm so weak.. I couldn't even help him..'

Team RWBY: Ruby is slowly recovering from the loss of her friend. (Y/n) was always kind with her, they always talked about weapons and becoming a hero but whenever Ruby would ask him he never answered, maybe it was too hard? Or maybe he had his own definition of what a hero/huntsman is. (Y/n) was overprotective of Ruby and her innocence making sure she wouldn't become a flirtatious monster like her older sister Yang, and from time to time he would bake her cookies mainly chocolate chip because it was her favorite. However unlike Pyrrha she had a crush on him but was saddened when she found out he was with Blake, however that wouldn't have stopped her feelings for him. Now that he's gone that's going to be hard.

Ruby: 'I'm sorry (Y/n).. I wish I was a stronger leader, I wish I was stronger in general I could've saved you..I miss you..so much...'

There stood Yang, she leaned against the doorway deep in thought about everything that transpired. Yang never had harsh feelings towards (Y/n), she was just jealous. Jealous at the fact that he was stronger, smarter, that he had Blake.. she never intended to take her away from him but she couldn't keep those feelings to herself anymore. Yang did think he was cute and wouldn't mind spending a night with him but every time she would flirt with him or shoot her shot he would always reject.

-Flashback-

Yang: Cmon (Y/n)~ one night wouldn't be so bad. I know you've always wanted a taste~

(Y/n): *Sigh* Yang be better. I'm not saying I wouldn't but you're just looking for someone to have sex with, I'm looking for a genuine connection. You're strong Yang, very strong, your eyes are beautiful and I could stare into them all day. They share a story that you don't want to tell. You're hurt deep inside and afraid to make a leap because of the fact that you're afraid to be alone again. Your hair shines brighter than the sun on some days and you're always the peacemaker on the team and yes you do have a good body.

Everything he said made Yang's face bright red, probably more red than Ruby's cape.

(Y/n): You'll find that person and when it comes I'll be happy for you whether it is me down the road or someone else.

He shot a smile at her then left. Leaving Yang alone to her thoughts.

-Flashback ended-

Yang looked at Blake who was laying down on her bed staring at a wall.

Yang: 'What do I even say to her, do I say anything at all? I know she's with me but I can't help but feel that, she's still in love with (Y/n)...'

Blake Belladonna, (Y/n)'s ex girlfriend, presumably his first love. (Y/n) told her everything about him and his past, why he trained so hard to be the best, why he takes on missions no one would dare try, go extreme lengths where others wouldn't go. He loves Blake for her, he never cared that she was a Faunus. He accepted her, cherished everything about her.

One mission Blake was captured by thugs who thought it would be funny to have their way with her, (Y/n) didn't like that one bit. One minute all she could feel was fear but then the next her savior came. The only time he thought it was necessary to kill, then they were happy ever since until she kissed Yang.  Blake always had feelings for the firecracker of the team and the lone wolf of the school. However certain times Blake would just get lost in Yang's eyes making it seem as if they were the only two around. Small little gestures like touching hands or using puns, but (Y/n) could tell right from the start that she loved Yang...he just wanted to be wrong and wanted someone to love him and stay.

Blake broke his heart and a part of hers as well.

Blake: 'I just wish I could see him again.. hold him, hear his voice, feel his heartbeat, but now he's gone..I never got the chance to apologize..I'm such a screw up....'

Weiss Schnee, (Y/n)'s snow Angel/princess, that was the nickname he gave her because even though she can act really cold and blunt underneath all of that she was sweet and gentle. He knew that she was Schnee and she sure was beautiful however it wasn't her name that made her so.

-Flashback-

Weiss: I think I should've been the leader of Team RWBY

(Y/n): Still to this day? Alright let's talk about how you'd be a better leader.

Weiss: Wait really!?

(Y/n): PFFT hell no, look Weiss you're very exceptional in battle but you expect everyone to fall in line like your little soldiers. Everyone has a personality on your team and each play a role in that. I don't care that you're a Schnee Weiss I think you're great person and you do have qualities of being a great leader too however your attitude is shit.

Weiss: I- How dare you!-

(Y/n): I'm not finished Snow Princess, you're mad because it's true but you are exceptional. I get you're frustrated that your not leader but don't fret about it instead perfect your skills and techniques. Don't worry about become a great leader but a better person for you and your teammates.

He walked up patting Weiss on the head which caused her to blush.

He walked out with a smile on his face then a realization hit

Weiss: You called me Snow Princess!?

(Y/n): Hahaha it's cute!

-Flashback end-

Weiss was in the shower letting the water run off her body and through her hair then a second flashback happened.

-2nd Flashback-

Weiss was sitting down on a park bench after a "date" with Neptune that ended terribly because he only wanted her because of her name.

Weiss: How come no guys like me for me and only for my name.. why can't anyone just treat me normally?

She hid her face in her hands before hearing a voice answer her.

???: Because they're stupid.

Quickly turning around to see (Y/n) with his hair in a ponytail, looking down at his very toned but muscular body, his eyes never left hers.

Weiss: (Y-Y/n)?

(Y/n): Hello Princess.

He sat down in front of her grabbing her hands interlocking them with his.

(Y/n): Look Weiss I don't have all the answers to every question, although I know the answer to this one. He was just simply undeserving of you. You're more than just a name brand, sure you can come off cold and rude which is why people call you ice queen and your attitude surely doesn't help.

Weiss: Well jeez bring me down more why don't you..

She looked away from him with hurt feelings

(Y/n): That doesn't mean you aren't one of the most beautiful girls I've ever met.

Her eyes widened as the looked back at him.

(Y/n): You can act strong but sometimes you're scared to show how you really feel, you may be cold but your heart is pure and filled with gold. Your eyes are beautiful and crystal-like. Your smile brightens up anyone's bad day. I see through your facade  and your past isn't great because of the Faunus and your father, everything that's happened to you has made you who you are today. If no one can see that you're more than just a name and a badass woman I don't know what they're looking at.

His words hit her to the core causing tears to fall down her face, no one had ever said that to her before.

(Y/n): Don't cry Weiss, I was just saying the truth. You'll find your knight in shining armor one day, don't lose hope.

He stood up wiping her tears off her face. Before smiling once more and continued on his run.

Weiss: (Y/n)...

-End of 2nd flashback-

Weiss was in tears again in the shower holding herself. He saved her life and she felt she was the one to blame. (Y/n)'s smile was the last thing she saw before he did what he did. It felt as if her whole world was crumbling down, she reached out to him only to be too late. She could've said him and she was too late, she wasn't fast enough to pull him back in.

Weiss: 'If I wasn't weak you'd be here right now.. if u reached out to you and held on you wouldn't be gone, I was the one..the only one who couldn't saved you. Now that you're gone I have to live with that forever...my one knight and shining armor is gone..'

-Team CFVY-

Velvet Scarlatina (Y/n)'s best friend and first girl he has ever has feelings for, they grew up together. Her family took (Y/n) in as one of their own after he saved her life from grimm at a young age, he was always overprotective of Velvet no matter what he was always by her side.

Love at first sight doesn't exist however (Y/n) was instantly in love with the Bunny Faunus. Every time he was around Velvet everything was just right, no worries as long as he was with her and one day he wanted to seal the deal and officially claim Velvet as his, sadly that didn't technically work out

Velvets family knew (Y/n) had these feelings for their daughter ever since they laid eyes on him, he would always be around her and they said it was okay since technically (Y/n) and Velvet weren't blood related.

-Flashback-

(Y/n) was seen walking around beacon to find Velvet one of teammates "Coco" she's a fashion junky, she told (Y/n) where she would be and he quickly darted off

Getting to the courtyard the moon shined brightly over her it as perfect. Everything was picture perfect for this one in a lifetime moment.

Once he got close enough he saw her in the arms of another man "Fox". They were kissing in the middle of the courtyard with the moonlight shining down on both of them. 

Fox: I've always loved you Velvet

Velvet: Fox..

(Y/n): 'Vel.. no please don't say it, do anything but say it back PLEASE!!'

Velvet: I love you too

Those words rang through (Y/n)'s head breaking the kids heart into millions of pieces. No amount of pain could compare to this. He slowly walked back stepping on something which made the two look in his direction.

Velvet: (Y/n)?

(Y/n): Heyyy you two, sorry I was just on a little stroll I had a hard time sleeping. I didn't mean to intrude. Did I miss something?

Velvet: Fox just expressed his feelings to me after all this time, now we're officially a couple aren't you happy? I have a boyfriend!

(Y/n): Y-Yeah! I'm happy for the two of you

Velvet looked so happy in his arms, (Y/n) walked away and once he was a good distance from their tears started falling from his eyes.

Coco: Hey (Y/n) how did it goooohh you're crying what happened.

(Y/n): She's with Fox..heh best man wins right, she looked so happy with him.. I'm nothing but happy for her.

Coco: (Y/n)-

(Y/n): I'm fine!! Just.. I need to be alone for awhile.

This was the first time Coco has ever seen him cry and he looked so broken inside

Coco: 'This changed everything.. Velvet u hope you're happy with your choice..'

-End of flashback-

Velvet was seen in her dorm holding onto the jacket (Y/n) let her keep. There was now a bigger hole in her heart and no one could fill that hole other than (Y/n). Coco saw her teammate in shambles and rubbed her back.

Coco: it'll be okay Bun-Bun

Velvet: He's gone.. (Y/n) is gone and now I don't know what to do. I miss him so much he would barely talk to me. I want him back!

Coco: I know Velvet I know.. wait when did he start getting distant?

Velvet: *Sniffles* A-After me and Fox got together.. h-he wouldn't even look at me! What did I do for him to not want to be around me anymore!?

Coco: Oh Velvet we're going to have a long talk.. only when you feel better.

Velvet held onto the jacket tighter not wanting the smell of (Y/n) to go away or to let the jacket go.

Now that (Y/n) is gone everything is about to change...
