Chapter Twenty-Seven

Kenneth's POV

"Take another step wolf and your friends will be dead." The man warns me in a deadly voice and I freeze.

I think of ways to get myself off this situation but nothing comes to mind. In all my ideas, my friends end up dead. I growl in frustration when I realise there is nothing I can do but to surrender and let these beings do what they may with us. I shift back to my human form and let them restrain me. Before any ideas form in my mind, I get hit on the head and everything turns black.

(Past days)

We drove for days to get to the northern border of my kingdom. From what I got on the maps, the Snow Kingdom was located somewhere north just beyond the forest. Reaching the northern boarder, we had to leave the cars there because after the boarder, a very big, thick forest was awaiting us. We had two choices here; to either pass through the forest or go around it. But going around would cost us more time and that was something we had to cherish. Passing through the forest was what we chose despite Zayne and Isaac's protest.

These two claimed that the forest was dangerous and cursed because once a person walks in, they never came out. The northeners told their pups many stories about the forest and for years it has been forbidden for a werewolf to go into the forest. They suggested we go round the forest because it was never guaranteed that if we go in, we will come out alive or come out the other side.

I didn't want to add up weeks to my mate' suffering. I had to take risks and one of those risks was to do the forbidden thing by going into the forest. I believed that it was only a story to the forest and not reality because when I was younger my father told me that it was because many people were being killed by wild animals during hunting, so they had to stop anyone hunting there thus creating false stories to scare off people. With that revelation, Zayne and Isaac's fears were eased up.

We were eight alphas in total, with Ron the only beta and each one of us carried a bag. We had food and torches and other important things like weapons. The moment I entered the forest I felt different which was something expected since I had just stepped off my land. We walked and walked for days, only stopping to eat, drink and rest.

Some nights when we rested, Zayne and Isaac took it upon themselves to tell us tales about the forest. It was scary if told to pups but since we were both grown up alphas, it was just a story. Sometimes we could joke about the stories to pass up time and make the journey manageable. It also helped us to prevent thinking about our mates and worrying about their well beings. We would eat, drink and joke then call it a night. The mornings would come and once again our journey through the woods would start.

"I feel like I'm being watched. I think someone is watching us." Zayne had said one day.

The others teased him for being a sissy and getting scared of trees. They told him no one was there and that he should not worry because they could protect him from harm. Even though the others laughed it off as a joke, I believed Zayne because I had been feeling that way since the first day I entered the forest. I had looked around and surely confirmed that there was nothing out there. That's why I didn't brought it up to my friends because there wasn't evidence and that it would have stirred fear in them. So when they dismissed Zayne, I didn't speak out and laughed with them.

As days passed, things started looking bad for us. We had walked enough for us to be out of the forest already but nothing seemed to change. Kay and Shaun climbed up trees to look out for directions since while walking through the woods, seeing ahead was difficult; but when they climbed down, they told us that there was only trees in each direction. This only meant that we were stuck in the middle of the forest and our direction was lost. My friends started freaking out and I tried my best to remain calm and assure them of our safety and victory out of the forest.

It was morning and we were about to leave but then Spencer stopped us all. We looked at him and he showed us a drawing of a chicken. It wasn't about the drawing because it was poorly done but it was about it being found at the moment. Sean had drawn it and mocked Zayne with it on that day he said he felt as if we were followed. Zayne had thrown it away and it was two days ago since we moved from the place.

"I think we have been going around in circles." Spencer said what was on everyone's mind.

"I think we could have known that. Maybe it was blown our way by the wind or something." Sean suggested.

"No way. There isn't enough wind in here because of the trees. I believe we have been going in circles." Noah backed up Spencer.

"Guys I remember that day, I had wrote Chandler on one of the trees with a stone. If we can find that writing then we will all believe to have been going round in circles." Isaac said and we all began to look for the writing after he told us where to look exactly.

"Here!" Zayne shouted and we all ran to him. There on the tree was written, 'I miss you Chandler'.

No one said a thing after that and everyone seemed to be attending their thoughts. As for me, I started to realise things that I didn't put much thought on. Ever since we had been travelling, we hadn't met, smell or saw any big animals. It was either flies, squirrels and birds now and again. By how much we had travelled, in this forest, we should have at least met other animals.

"Alpha," Sean called and I turned to him. "I know this sounds stupid but I think we are being watched."

"I think so too." Kay agreed looking around.

I couldn't disagree on that because the feeling of being watched was really great. Before I shouted any orders, the alphas and beta surrounded me and stood in defense with their weapons out.

"I can't shift!" Ron exclaimed in horror. The others tried to shift as well but they couldn't. Our instincts alerted us of the coming strangers and we stayed on guard. Surprisingly, I was the only one who could shift.

"Who's there?" Kay shouted and then someone came out.

I've never seen such a being before. He had long white hair that passed his shoulders, he had on green clothes that made him mage in fine with the trees. He also had on a mask that was also green and it masked everything only leaving the eyes which were black in colour. His ears were long for then to be that of a normal human. My observation of him ended when I saw that this guy wasn't alone, as many of them came of hiding and surrounded us. Before my friends could attack, they became limp and suspended in the air. They were choking and trying to remove the invisible thing that was choking them.

I knew they were using magic on my friends and the only way to release them was to find the one that casted the spell. I looked around and noticed a woman who stood forward than the others. The man I saw earlier was standing beside her. She yelled something in a strange language and the man looked straight at me. He looked at me for some time and then whispered something to the woman. They both looked straight at me and that's when my fur body moved.

"Take another step wolf, and your friends will be dead." The man warned me in a deadly voice and I froze.

***
(Present time)

I wake up on a bed in a room and I stay still when I hear voices in the room. I try to eavesdrop but they are speaking in the foreign language and I can't understand what is being exchanged. I move my arm to get up and that's when I feel the chain and the sound of it alerts the strangers that I'm awake.

"Hello there!" A very beautiful woman greets me and I'm ashamed to admit that I stare at her for a minute or two. When I move to sit up again, I remember about the chain and my eyes stray from her and back to my hand.

"I'm sorry about those. I just wanted to make sure you will cooperate with us without hurting us. We want us to talk." A man said, coming to stand by the woman.

"You are the ones who used your magic on my friends. You even threatened to kill them. Where are they? Where are my friends?" I growl and they take a step back.

"We were just making sure they wouldn't hurt us and we had to threaten you to stop you from attacking us." The woman explains.

"Why didn't you just use your magic on me too?" I ask because it feels odd to use magic on my friends and not on me.

"We tried, but somehow you resisted it. We couldn't use our magic on you no matter how much we tried."

"Maybe you are just too weak and powerless." I scoff and the woman glares at me.

"We are very powerful young man. You only have a strong resistant."

"Why?"

"That's why we have you here. Maybe you can tell us why." The man replies and I study them for a while.

If they really wanted to hurt me, they could have done it already. But why aren't they hurting us or treating me as a prisoner since I am in a room and not a prison cell. But who are these people and what do they want from me.

"We just want us to talk." The man softly says and I look up at him.

"I'll be honest with you. I don't know why I'm resisting your magic. Me and my friends are innocent of any crime and we were just passing through the forest. We have no intention of harming anyone here." I state.

"I understand young man but we still need to talk." The man answers and I sigh.

"Alright we can talk. You have my word of not harming you if I'm assured that my friends are okay." I tell him and he nods then vanish.

The man appears a second later and a knock sounds at the door. The woman calls whoever is out there to come in and the door opens. My friends come in, all eight of them.

"Alpha are you okay?"

"We were really worried about you."

"Why are you chained up?"

"Alpha did th-"

"I'm fine guys. Are you all okay?" I stop their questions and ask one myself.

"Yes we are all fine alpha." Isaac answers and when I look at each of them, everyone nods with a smile.

"Leave us." I order and they all bows and walk out the room.

The man comes to me once the door closes and removes the chains from my arm. I massage the arm with my other hand and look at the two people in the room. I ask them who they are and the man replies.

"I'm Jade and this is Rama, my wife."

"I'm Kenneth." I introduce myself and they nod but then Rama looks weirdly on my neck. I place a hand on it, wondering what it is she is looking at. My hand touches something and I remember about the necklace my dad gave me. I smile remembering about my father telling me that this necklace will keep me safe. In fact, I just wore it to ease his worries.

"Where did you get that?"

"My dad gave it to me before I left home." I answer Rama and Jade speaks up.

"Who is your father? His name please."

"My father is Adam Stone. He is the former alpha King of the Matla Wolves kingdom." I say and Rama smiles and hugs his husband.

"We did it Jade. We found him after waiting all this time. He is the one." She exclaims happily making me frown.

"What do you mean?" I inquire.

"We have been waiting for you to come for a long time. She is just happy that you are finally here." Jade informs but I still don't get it.

"Do you know me?"

"No we didn't know you until a while ago, but we did know your father." Jade's answer confuses me more than ever.

How do they know my father?
