Chapter Twenty-One
Roman's POV
Day : One (Next day after arrival)
Activity : Familiarity
I woke up with a groan, sitting up on the single bed and look around. Nate smiles at me and shows me the clock. I sigh as I get off the bed and put on my running shoes that Nate gives me. I put on a T-shirt since I didn't sleep with anything on other than my shorts. Once I'm done, we walk out of the tent silently to not wake our roommates.
We start a light jog the moment we exit the room. We run towards the open field which is to be used for sports in coming days. I got used to to running each morning with my Ken back at home, so I asked Nate to be going running with me here. We are later on joined by Victor and two girls that I don't know of yet. We ran back and forth around the field for sometime until the sun starts rising.
"I didn't expect you to be that good at running." Victor pants when we stop to catch our breath. Him and I were running side by side and when he wanted to pass me by, the competitor in me came out and I ended up leaving him behind to catch up. It's not like I put much effort in it, he's no match.
"Hehe...I so good at it. My Ken go running with me in the morning."
"I go running with Shaun in the morning too but I'm not that good as you." He groans, sitting down and I sit beside him.
"Shaun, mate?" I ask and he nods with a smile. "How old is you?"
"I'm 20 years old. Me and Shaun mated when I was 16 years old." Victor replies and my stunned look makes him laugh. "It wasn't that bad you know. We were from the same pack so staying away from each other was a bit harder. Me and Shaun have a one year difference, I guess the teen hormones got to us pretty bad. So when the elders weren't paying much attention on us, we mated." He shrugs and I chuckle.
"That's nice." I tell him honestly. I can't wait to get mated to my Ken and experience the mated life and everything.
"Hey Roman," I look up to Nate who had called me as he approaches with the two girls. "This is Leticia and Daisy." He introduces the girls and I stand up to offer my hand in greeting. Victor stands too and together we start walking back to the assigned rooms.
We separate with the girls as we head to the bathroom to wash away the sweat before we go to have breakfast. There were people among us who volunteered to do the cooking throughout the week, some also chose cleaning.
Today there wasn't much to do but to make friends and get familiar with each other. This will help us to get along throughout the great luna week. The room sharing was the first step and I was glad no one protested about it when Nate told them about it in his many speech yesterday.
I finish my bath and head to my room without Nate since he had not yet taken a bath. I enter our room and found our roommates awake. There are supposed to be five in every room and apart from me and Nate, we've Max from South, Noel from East and Jordan from North.
"Hi Roman." Noel pipes up when he see me.
"Hush! He's right here, no need to raise your voice." Max scolds him but Noel wave him off and run to me.
"So I was thinking-" Noel starts but a clearing throat interrupts him. He rolls his eyes and smile at me. "I mean we were thinking that maybe you and Nate join us and spend the day together. You in?"
"Uh, I not sure bout Nate-"
"I'm spending the day with Leticia, Daisy and their other friends. You are welcome to join us if you want." Nate says while coming in the room.
"I asked him first." Noel pouts and look at me with pleading eyes.
"I think I be fine with you." I reply and Noel jumps up and down happily.
"You've chose the right thing Roman. I can't wait to tell you all about me and to hear about you." He gushes and Max pull him away from me.
"I think you should give Roman some space so that he can get dressed and we can start this day already." He tells Noel and then turn to me with a smile, "we will be waiting for you at the dining tent."
"Hurry up Roma, I'll keep a sit for you." Noel shouts as he's being pulled outside the room.
"Okay." I wave Noel off and I watch as Jordan follows them silently.
Nate sets my bag on my bed and I open it to look for something to wear today. I take out a green T-shirt that has an apple drawing on the front. I got it when I visited Cemil last time because it reminded me of my Ken's scent. I wear the T-shirt with a black jean short and green sneakers. I take my phone with me as I leave the room with Nate.
"Will you be okay to spend the day with the guys? I can stay with you if you want me to."
"No baby me Nate. I be fine, no worry." I assure him and he nods. We enter the dining tent and he looks around for his friends as I do the same. He spots them and walk to their table. I remain standing by the door and wondering where Noel and the others are. It is a big tent with tables filled with breakfast food. I don't know which table my friends are at.
"Hey," a voice calls out and I look in its direction to find none other than Victor. He smiles at me and approaches. "Why are you just standing here? Come on to my table, there's a sit available."
"No thanks. I looking for my friends."
"Who?"
"Uh, Jordan, Max and Noel." I tell him and he nods and then is silent for some time before smiling down at me.
"Lets go. I know where they are." He takes my hand and we walk in a certain direction. As we get closer to a certain table, I hear Noel's voice going on about something.
"Roma! What took you so long?" Noel shouts when he sees me.
"It's obvious he was prettying himself up as if he's going on date with his mate." Jordan retorts and Max hits him on the head.
"Be nice Jordan."
"Don't mind Jay, Roman. He's just jealous your looking good than him at the moment." Noel says while gesturing me to the sit beside him. I sit down and Victor sits beside me.
"I hope you don't mind if I join you guys." Victor announces and everyone says they don't mind.
"Roma meet Tessa, Zoe and Oliver. Guys this is Roman and that is Victor." Noel introduces and I greet his friends.
I'm not sure how he knew Victor but I guess they know each other. I take an empty plate and start putting on some food to eat. I get everything but I can't find bacons anywhere.
"No bacons?" I ask Noel.
"Unfortunately no. You see this one here," Noel points at Zoe and continues. "She gets sick when she sees and smells bacon." He explains and I remember about Cemil. He also got sick with bacon smell until Liam stopped preparing it for breakfast.
"My brother got sick too." I smile.
"How along is he?" Jordan asks and I look at him with a frown.
"What you mean?"
"You said your brother got sick too. So I'm asking how old is the pregnancy. Zoe is a month old." He replies.
"Cemil no pregnant." I state.
"He's not?" Victor ask and I nod.
"So why does he get sick? Or he hates bacon?" Jordan prompts and I shake my head. Cemil liked bacon from before but those days he just hated it since it made him sick.
"Oh shut it Jordan. Not everyone who gets sick is pregnant silly." Zoe mutters.
"What werewolf gets sick because of bacon? Unless his or her hormones are messed up with pregnancy." Jordan grumbles lowly.
The rest of breakfast time is spent with bickering back and fourth about so many things. When we are done, we go out to the field to chat. I get to know everyone in our group which consist of Zoe, Noel, Max, Jordan, Tessa, Victor, Oliver and me.
Zoe is pregnant and mated to Joram. She comes from the Southern city. Max say she's shy and quiet but can get fierce if you mess up with her. Noel the ever talking guy who has lots and lots of stories to tell you is mated to an alpha from the east but he once lived in the south. He and Max have been friends ever since they were young and although Noel moved to the Eastern city, they still chat. His mate's name is Spencer.
Max is the calm and observant one of the group. He jokes and get serious when there's need to. His mated to Noah who happens to be Noel's twin brother. Jordan can come off as rude but he is okay. He just seems to talk what's on his mind without much thought and doesn't care if his words hurts someone or not. Despite the strain between north and south, he seems to get well with the southerners in our group and he's the only one from north. He's mated to Zayne, an alpha in the north.
Oliver and Tessa are from the Western city. There mates, Rolland and Oscar are best friends. They knew each other through their mates and they too became good friends. Victor is the mate of the Southern city chosen alpha, Shaun. Because he's mated to Shaun, he can be able to communicate with any southern pack member. That is how he located Noel earlier by asking him through the link. All my friends are 18 years old with an exception of me who is still 17. I'm also the only one who isn't mated yet and being around mated omegas, I really want to be mated to my Ken too. Luckily for Nate, him and Ron will get mated when we return home.
During lunch, I excuse myself from my friends to call Cemil. Even though I dismissed Jordan's words in the morning, something still bugged me and I had to make sure he was alright. I ask him if he and Jonathan have mated and he says no. I sigh in relief knowing that meant he can't be pregnant and the sickness was probably a bug or something.
The day drags on and I meet different people but still stick with the group. I saw Nate now and then and he could just wave at me then go on with his friends. There wasn't any incident during the day and that made me happy. The great Luna week was enjoyable.
"Make sure you take good pictures. I want to send Spence some." Noel instructs Max who nods and urge him to leave already. It is evening after dinner and it is time for 'history in our pack'.
Today's history will be presented by the Eastern city packs led by Victor. Noel and other eastern wolves will be performing. It is something I planned so that the other cities will know more about what their friends do.
"Hello everyone! My name is Victor and I'm the mate of the eastern chosen pack alpha. I want to tell you something about our city. Long, long ago, there was a great war. Our people fought against their enemies day and night. In this time, only dominant male and females were aloud to fight in battle. Omegas old or young were told to hide during battles. But as the war dragged on, many dominants died and hope for victory was slowly fading away. Upon seeing this, the omegas couldn't bear to see their loved ones die alone in battle. They prayed to the goddess to give them the ability to fight beside their loved ones and face the enemy together. The goddess was kind enough and gave the omegas what they asked for. On that night omegas were given the knowledge to make bow and arrows, the skill to hold and shoot a target. With this, the omegas joined the dominants in battle and victory was theirs. From that time until now, omegas in the east practice archery from a young age. Since the time of war is gone, archery is currently used as a mere sport. It is a sport that involves omegas only to participate. Some packs use it as a test to see how an alpha's mate is fit to be Luna or to choose a mate of an alpha if he happens to not have one; the best Archer among the omegas wins in such a case." Victor narrates and then pick up his bow as do the other Lunas standing in front with him.
They both had on full gear before going in front. Their matching gear looks good on them and we watch in awe as they shoot their arrows on the targets placed in the room expertly. We clap and shout happily at the well presentation. It is now time to rest and prepare for tomorrow's activities. I bid goodnight to Victor before going to bed with my roommates.
