Chapter Twenty Nine
Kenneth's POV
"That's some story. So why didn't you kill us when we entered your kingdom? Have the rules changed?" I ask Jade.
It is a lot to take in with all that story. My father really wasn't around when I grew up so I didn't know any of this but I still wonder if he could have been around, would he have told me about this? I remember when I walked in his room, on the day I left home, he looked alarmed when I told him where I was going.

"Dad I'll have to go through the big forest at the northern boarder if necessary to get to Roman fast. I know you said not to go there but the situation doesn't give me a choice. I hope you understand my reasons for doing so." I hold my father's hand in mine and I feel how cold it is. I reach for the gloves on a desk and put it on his hands to make them feel warm.
"There are things that you don't know nor do you expect them to be that way." My father softly speaks and I look at him.
"Dad-"
"Take this. It will protect you from any harm if you really go inside the forest. You know how much I love it so don't lose it and bring it back to me."
I take the necklace and hold it in my hands. A bird is on it and dad tells me that it is a Phoenix. I put it on and its a foreign feeling on my neck but comfortable.
"The necklace will always protect you just as it protected me all this years. It was once owned by a very powerful creature and its powers are still present in that." He pauses and then look at me. "Come back with your mate. He still needs to tell me who will be Aang's fire bending master." He smiles with a distant look and my phone vibrates in my pocket.
"I'll have to go now." I say while standing up. He nods and I walk out the room. I make sure to give strict orders on who is going to attend to my father while I'm gone.
As I walk further away from my father's room, I call my uncle Klaus and tell him to look after Zach until I come back.

"The rules change with every ruling king or queen. But there haven't been a Queen or King for the kingdom ever since the death of Queen Eleanor. No child powerful than an ordinary elf has been born during the years." Jade replies.
"That was until a month ago. The kingdom finally has a prince. But he's not to become King until he's of right age." Rama explains.
"So who was in charge in all the years you've been without a leader?"
"There are other kingdoms in this forest, not just ours. All kingdoms look out to one kingdom that basically owns this whole forest. The elephants being the largest animals in this forest, all other beings look out to them for protection and guidance. They are the ones who are in charge until the prince becomes King." Jade answers and I sigh.
As much as I would like to keep listening and know more about their kind as well as the kingdoms, I know I have to leave. Roman is still out there with some lunatics. I have to go save my mate first.
"I'm sorry Jade but I need to leave. I've wasted time being here and stuck in the damn forest; I have very important-"
"We know about your mate and who took him captive. You can't rescue him without starting a war and you can't win this war alone. Our kingdom's clairvoyant told us about your visit and we understood why it is important for the elves to help you rescue your mate. The snow kingdom is a very strong enemy and since it was rumoured that the snow kingdom had something to do with the attack on our kingdom, they've been an enemy of us since then. We've already sent a request to go to war along with you and we are to hear from the elephants tomorrow. You've to at least wait until tomorrow and I'm sure we will go with you to the snow kingdom." Jade who interrupted me explains.
"How sure are you that the elephants will accept your request?"
"Like Jade said earlier," Rama pauses and holds his husband's hand. "It is very important for us, elves, to help you rescue your mate. Besides, it will be like avenging the deaths of our fallen during the previous war. The elephants will accept our request with no problem."
I think about it but can't make up my mind. I am not going alone to rescue Roman and he isn't the only one to be rescued. I tell Jade and Rama that I'll need to talk to my friends and come to a decision together. I might be there leader but their opinion matters too.
I walk out the room, using my senses to locate my friends. The elves are really beautiful creatures and I find myself gazing at most of them as I walk out of the house I was in. That I am still in the forest is unbelievable because of the sight that greeted me outside. I mask my surprise well and just admire the surroundings while approaching my friends. They were lying on the grassy ground and basking in the sun. I sit beside Isaac and enjoy the silence at the moment.
The silent doesn't drag on as the guys starts a silly conversation. I listen to their bickering and find myself smiling at some things they say. When they become silent again, I tell them what Jade and Rama proposed to me earlier. I want to know whether they agree on waiting for them or going on ourselves without them.
"I think its best we wait for just a day for them. It isn't that bad of a thing to do." Sean is the first to reply and Zayne as well as Noah agree with him.
"Besides, if we leave now, I bet we will get lost in the forest again." Shaun says.
"We are still in the forest big guy." Kay scowls at Shaun and then sighs. "They are right though. We are going against magic beings so why not seek help from other magic beings? They will help us a lot." She adds.
"What say you Isaac?" Spencer ask.
"We all have thoughts but we also trust you Kenneth to decide what's best for us. I know whatever you decide will be in the best for our mates. So why don't you decide and we will follow whatever it is." Isaac throws in and everyone agrees with him.
I look at a silent Ron and wonder what it is he is thinking. I tell the guys my decision which is to wait for elves and accept their hand of help they are offering us. Although somehow I think there is something that I should know first before taking them with me. I still didn't get it why it is very important for the elves to help me rescue my mate. It must be revenge but I think there is something they haven't told me yet.
"What's wrong?" I ask Ron and his eyes look around before finally finding mine. We stare at each other for sometime before he looks away.
"I'm just worried about Nate." He replies a minute later.
"I understand your worries but I hope you don't lose hope fast. He is a strong person and smart too. He will make sure that he is alive long enough for us to rescue him and the others." I assure him.
The thing is, Nate had been worried about what the people he worked for would do if they get him again. He was now a member of my pack and almost fully mated with my beta. Ron is worried that they might kill him for failing his job and letting himself be captured by the enemy.
"I hope you are right Kenny." Ron looks at me again before looking away.
I leave the guys and make my way back to the house. I have to clear some things with Jade.
****
I wake up to someone shaking me and I find out that it is Ron when I open my eyes.
"Someone is at the door for you." He whispers and I nod as I look around the room.
The other alphas are still asleep and I look back at Ron. I don't say anything and I see he's glad that I don't say a thing. He isn't looking good and I know it has something to do with Nate. Yesterday after I told Jade that we will wait for their request acceptance, I asked if it was possible to have all nine of us share a room for the night. I wanted us to be close and was thankful when Jade agreed to it. I get up from the bed to find out who is at the door for me.
"Master Jade sent me to tell you that the visitors have arrived. I'm also here to escort you to the meeting hall." The elf that I find at the door informs me.
I get back in the room and dress appropriate then leave with the elf. Yesterday Jade had told me that the elephants will come and I didn't expect them to be here this early. I arrive at the hall and find Jade waiting for me at the door. He dismisses the boy and opens the door for me. He enters after me and close the door then leads me to where his wife is seating.
"So where are they?" I ask after greeting Rama.
"They will be here any second." Rama answered just as the door opens once again.
A man and a woman walks in and take a seat opposite us. It is only when I Jade sit down that I realise him and Rama had stood up when the two visitors had walked in. I was busy staring to realise in time. The two didn't look like the elves and they didn't look much different from me. The only different thing I picked up on was the hair and eye colour. They both have long gray hair and their eyes have an iris of a warm brown and greenish colour with long eyelashes. I immediately understand why these guys are in charge. Being an elephant shifter isn't something lightly.
"We won't stay long Jade. I'm sure you already know what my answer to your request is." The man says after greetings were shared. His name is Devlin and the woman, his mate, is Elsie.
"Yes I know what the answer is Devlin but what the clairvoyant didn't tell me is if you would go with us or not." Jade's answer seem to have irritated the man because he growls and only stops when Elsie places her hand on his fist.
"I told you not to include me on that mad man's dreams." Devlin shouts after his wife whispers.
"He isn't a mad man and a lot has happened to prove that right. This is really important and your son-"
"Don't you dare drag my son into this." Devlin warns in deep voice that I find myself wanting to be anywhere but here.
"Okay that's it Dev. Go wait outside for me." Elsie who has been silent speaks up and Devlin hurries outside. My conclusion being he really has a short temper.
"Jade you shouldn't have mentioned our son there. You know how he is about this and you still act like a child about this." Elsie says and Jade apologises. She sighs and then look at me. "I am sorry but Devlin is really against helping you. He doesn't mean ill by refusing and neither is he a bad person, but he is just finding it hard to believe what the clairvoyant told him. You already have a high chance of winning with the elves going with you."
I only nod because I didn't quiet understand what was really going on. Elsie doesn't take long with us and she leaves soon after talking to me. I look at Jade for some details on the situation and he sighs. Rama is the one who tells me what it is about. I laugh because it is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard and I don't blame Devlin for not believing it.
This situation reminded me on what Justice had told me about my child. How could I believe about something when I wasn't sure of if I would have a child or when that would be? The elf clairvoyant is the same as Justice but maybe better because he is talking about children that exists unlike mine that don't exist. The clairvoyant had told Jade, Rama, Devlin and Elsie about the future of their children. The two couples both had sons and their future was somehow entwined into mine and Roman. It was the contents of this future that Devlin hated.
"How long will it take us to reach the Snow kingdom?" I ask Jade, dismissing the Devlin thing because it didn't matter that much to me. Now that the acceptance is certain, we have important things to talk about.
"Tomorrow evening." Jade replies and for the first time in weeks, I smile a genuine smile.
I didn't expect it to be that soon but either way, I'm glad it is that soon. After exchanging a few words with Jade, I leave the place and hurry back to my friends. I tell them of the good news and everyone starts preparing to leave the elf kingdom.
