After a few days of Rascal carrying me by the neck, I learned how to walk properly, fortunately. Still don't know how to change back, I thought this only occurs at night!
Not a lycanthrope
I glanced at my paw, which had claws as sharp as that small pebble over there, more likely meant my claws were rounded and obviously not meant to Peirce the skin off any prey yet, considering that I attacked that rabbit earlier with the claws, it wasn't my fault though.
I was laying on a rock, where it was cleaner than the rest of my surroundings due to my bushy tail brushing over everything's, as if an own personal sweeper. I wouldn't mind though, since I could practically shake it off, or when I get back to my human self, somehow. I wouldn't think that any myths or legends had anything to do with the change, mostly on will I guess.
I came here to think, away from howls, barks, or anybody for the fact. I was quite a few blocks away from the territory, where it was quiet and peaceful. I admit that, living out here is better than the orphanage, tripped in like a solitary, where other kids could change you in many ways.
Taking my attention off of my paw and quickly laid my head onto my short arms, it was a bit difficult because of the amulet getting into my way, so I pushed it away with my snout and studied the features of my body. Small spirally patches of darker Brown and black claws that seemed to be harmless. I actually thought my tail was bigger than the rest of my body, until I realized that I had the urge to bite it.
I sighed, which turned into a raspy low growl. A few moments later, my ear twitched to leaves crunching in the distance, it became louder as I gazed at the faint grass intensely. My mouth curling into a small sneer when the noises stopped.
'So uh, you okay there?'
I jump slightly, glancing around until my eyes land on the same pup that I encountered yesterday. Only this time I can see him or her a bit better, mostly counting on him due to the young voice that echoed through my mind, how's he even talk to me now?I blink a bit before standing up from my position and forcing a quiet;
'Hello?' I asked, realizing that it was stupid, the question wasn't what you would be expected to be asked. I face palmed mentally and recoiled before turning myself to face him.
'I meant, yeah, I'm okay.' I avoided being sarcastic, though the look on his face was a skeptical. Guess he looked through the clear glass.
'Does having a sad smile make you seem okay?'
I frowned, sad smile?
'Well, you could clearly see me sad, I mean, why bother asking.' I sighed in frustration as the pup or more like a neighbor walked nearer, showing off his black shiny fur that blended within the shadows, a darker shade than any of the wolves, perfect for hunting when it turns night. The only difference is that his emerald green eyes were innocent, but clearly had the 'cut the crap' look in them. I was slightly amused. He was darker than the rest of the pack, which meant he was either from rogues or born into the pack.
'Well, you seem to be in deep thought, I couldn't really know well how you could have mixed faces.' He seemed rather amused on how much the features of my face changed when emotions flow by.
I shook my head and curled into a ball, using my tail as cover to avoid any awkward Stares.
'Why are you here anyway?' His voice was closer, which meant he was probably towering over me with a curious gaze. My snout flared up in annoyance, only to calm down as I took a deep breath.
I peeked one eye open and saw him studying over the fluffy tail and the marks that are probably a part of my fur. He waited for a response as I uncurled myself and stood up, just about an inch shorter than him.
'Because, deep thinking often drives you into an environment where you'd want to be left alone.'
'Like it drives you into hunting? Doesn't that only happen to the adults?'
I raised my eyebrows at him when he mentioned adults, in reply he only narrowed his eyes and quickly pointed his snout towards my neck, or my amulet as you call it.
I glanced at it and cocked my head, my eyes taking in the detail as to what was wrong with it. Nothing, it pulsed bright reflected light and a few dirt on it but nothing seemed to be wrong.
I looked back up at him only to see him sniffing and furrowing his eyebrows. He pulled away and raised a brow, not that I can see it much but it was sort of common to do.
'What?' I asked in confusion, before noticing something brief flash through his eyes.
'Isn't that like a dog's thing that wraps around their necks, with a rope or something hanging off it?'
'Oh! You mean a collar? Well, this isn't really one of those things, it's like a necklace!' I explained, showing him the amulet proudly as confusion takes over his features. He took in all of the words before nodding slowly.
I smiled before standing up on all fours, realizing that I didn't know how to shift back into my original self, with the fluffy hair and clothes. Which reminds, what happened to my clothes? I looked my self, nothing but different shades of fur only covered me and provided me with heat. It acted like clothes I guess.
I shrugged and let a grin spread onto my lips, only to falter when I remembered his sentence.
'You've seen dogs?' I ask, unaware of what the pup even does in his free time.
'Uh yeah, why?'
My mouth drops, which made the pup cock his head and frown at my expression. Glancing around, I recollected myself and quickly shut my mouth before it would become a fly catcher.
'Aren't they usually led by humans?'
His face stiffens a bit, I might've seen him pail if it weren't for the black fur that covered him. He huffed and let his tail droop as his eyes glanced around nervously.
'Uhm, yeah.' He admits defeatedly before glancing up at me with a panicked expression.
'Don't tell them!' He quickly defended as I gaze at him with amusement, along with satisfaction that made me grit my teeth. I stood up and tilted my head in amusement.
'So you've been to the city!?'
He quickly shushed me as he made a 360 spin, his ears were dropping as if he was hiding. His emerald slited eyes then glared at me. Mouth raised in a slight sneer.
I sheepishly smiled and sat down, avoiding eye contact with the emerald eyes, and practically my brown-I'm not even sure if it's still brown anymore- eyes, that would look very unnatural for a a completely brown pup, I find it weird when I gaze out the window, only to see poodles, German shepherds and practically huskies.
I heard him sigh as he sat down , his long and slick tail wrapping around him like gift that seemed like glass.
'Yes, I have, and I don't want the pack to find out.'
I blinked, furrowing my eyebrows(don't know how, just try to act like the characters are like Zootopia.) My tail flicked in curiosity, I didn't even know it could move without force, must be really light then.
'Why?'
He rolled his eyes again. A small snarl escaping his lips as I hung my mouth open, my tail flickering in confusion.
'I'm not exactly what you call a wolf in the pack, ro-'
'Carter! Where have you been!?'
A small, female voice rang out, possibly sounding like a five year old I'm my knowledge. His ears perk down in frustration, not bothering to turn around. I lean to the side, my eyes landing on a smaller pup.
She looked sly, dark orange eyes that matched Rascal's and Bailey's. But despite the fur of her parents, She looked like a normal breed, not to mention the same markings as one.
She stopped in her tracks and looked at me, her ears perking up curiously.
'Who are you?'
I was about to speak, but all that came out was a raspy breath. I did not actually know how to describe myself yet to wolves, guess Carter could, but that'd mean he traveled near a city once, or twice, I don't know how many. Considering he was a black wolf, he might of came many times during the night.
I shook my head as Carter stepped a few feet away from me, allowing the small pup to see me properly.
She gasped, clearly surprised by my wolf, or something. I don't blame her, I mean, unnatural marks around a wolf's body isn't what you see everyday, not to mention on a human. She bounded up to me but quickly stopped and stood tall, which only reached my chest or so.
'I won't repeat myself, who are you?' She sounded serious, though, failing miserably due to Carter holding in his laughter from the side. She glared at him, which only made Carter laugh silently, I bet he's dying right now.
I blinked idiotically, before collecting all of my thoughts.
|A/N:I'm too lazy to change all of the sentences, so they will be talking like a regular person.|
'I'm Sky Dahlberg," ' blurted out, not even sure if the last name was true, I mean, being adopted could have twists and turns, I don't actually know much. She furrowed her eyebrows and sniffed, Carter now watching from the side with amusement, though, he was holding his stomach, trying to get back his composure from outburst.
"You smell like moldy grass and dirt." I glanced back at the smaller pup, who stuck her tongue out with a disgusted expression. I chuckled nervously.
She seemed unamused, but she still examined me until she saw my amulet. Her ears suddenly pointed up, sniffing, she narrowed her eyes.
My ears suddenly twitched onto a direction, Carter's ears perked up as a low growl escaped his throat. The small
Pup glanced at me and looked like she was stage frightened.
'Mason. Don't question it, it's just a male name for a female.' Mason said in a quiet voice, though, sorry was evident in her voice., also turning her head to the direction of the faint sound. I nodded as Carter walked in front of us with his head up, as if sniffing the air.
'Hunters,' He stated and quickly turned to us. I suddenly hear the faint crunching of grass and the smell of cow skin. I grimaced and stood up as Carter came over to Mason and me. A stern expression clear on his face.
'We need to go, we can't fend off humans AL
On our own, much less having one of the adults getting shot.'
I nodded and sniffed, a familiar smell reached my nose in no time. A grin formed on to my lips as Carter and mason waited beside me, looking around for any people. He gave a quick nod and glanced at the path, where footprints (and an occasional face) were on the ground. My face flushed from embarrassment, but I was glad fur was there to cover it.
I skipped my way over to where a faint scent had been, where I came from.
Would they even kill us for fur now? I thought that steve-guy had actually made a truce with wolves, seen as they were useless for any resources, other than hunting.
Or was it those hounds, they were dogs though, I don't even know if I'm considered a wolf.
I glanced at Mason and Carter, they were already walking through the leaves carefully. Seeing as they had went, I grab a stick from one of the bushes and go in tail first. Rubbing the stick on the ground to get rid of any tracks or evidence. This helps very much in those hunter movies, always leads to the pack and assault them. I grimaced at the thought as my jaws clamp around the stick tighter.
I continued to mindlessly do it, always following the scent. Carter's and Mason's scents were like dark chocolate and a mint of orange. I sighed, better than the ones that the cafeteria lady sells. Which reminds me, how am I living life now.
I suddenly bump into Carter, who didn't seem to budge that much.
I glanced at him with the stick still in my mouth (which, mind you, tasted like regular wood for some reason.) As I tried to look at what he looking at.
I dropped the stick.

A/N:I personally like to leave cliffhangers here and then, don't worry the cliffhanger won't last long like Skybrine's cliff hanger xD
The cliffhanger is the excuse on why the chapters are short, I don't even know how to properly write big chapters for you guys, since my vocabulary on words only lasts til I have no idea n shīt.
If you're wondering, no, none of them are OCs, the wolves are completely based on a pack of wolves that have roles, even as much as stereotypes. I've been reading too much about werewolf stories.
