Part 2

Avery stood under the enormous tempera-on-stone painting on the dining hall wall of the Convent of Santa Maria Delle Grazie in Milan, Italy. All the angles in the painting giving a striking perspective that seems to invite the viewers to step right into the dramatic scene. What would happen if one did step in? Would you run into a stone wall? Or would you become apart of the painting; entering the world that the Painter imagined? Avery wanted to know. She wanted to see with her own eyes and experience the biblical and historical event.

All it would take is a couple of steps, over a pale velvet rope that came between her and her uncovering the answers that she seeks. There was no one there to stop her, the only one who stands in her way is her fear of the unknown. No more! No more would she be held back by something that doesn't exist. Danger is real but fear is a choice, a choice she chooses to not make.
No longer being held back by the intangible, Avery steps up to the mural, the musty smell of the old building fills her nose as she takes a deep breath. Putting a hand up to guide her, Avery walked into a world unknown and unseen by most.

Everything was still the same faded color that has worn with time and had that rough, gritty texture of the pigmented paint. There was no sound that reached the girl's delicate ears. No movement to be seen through her icy blue eyes. No wind rustled her thin blonde hair. No nothing.
This was not the world Avery had imagined it would be. The people were like wax mannequins, only to be seen. The food crumbled into ash at the touch. Everything is as dead and horrifyingly beautiful as the painting was on the other side. The other side.

There was no other side. There was no window to her world for her to return through. Now there was something to fear, Avery was alone, with no way out. No food, no water, just a desolate waste land that would slowly suck the life out of her until there was nothing left. She would soon fade away in a land unknown and unseen
