Currently, Akiri and Tatsuya were in the First High Club Management room. Mayumi, Mari and Katsuto were in attendance. They were questioning the two about the incident that happened earlier that day.

Mayumi: So, neither of you didn't see how it started, then?

Tatsuya: Right. All we saw was Ms. Mibu of the kendo team and Mr. Kirihara of the Kenjutsu team arguing

Tatsuya replied.

Mayumi: Is that why you two didn't raise a hand at first?

Akiri: Yes. We thought that, if they were only going to end up with bruises, then it's best that they settle the score amongst themselves

Mari: After subduing Kirihara, what did you do with him?

Tatsuya: Since he was injured and had already gone into shock, we handed him over to the Health Committee

Akiri: And since he himself had acknowledged his own wrongdoing, we made the call that no further measures were required

Mari let out a sigh.

Mari: I guess that's fine. The Disciplinary Committee has no intention of sending this matter to the Correctional Committee. What do you say, Juumonji?

She said before turning towards the large man. Juumonji Katsuto, the chairman of the Club Management Group.

Katsuto: I appreciate your lenient ruling. He used a highly lethal spell. Normally, there would be no escaping suspension. I'm sure he's aware of that himself. I'll council him to learn from this mistake of his

Mari: I'm counting on you

Mayumi: But what about the kendo team? The moment she took up the gauntlet, she was equally to blame. Let me confirm this one more time

She looked towards Akiri and Tatsuya.

Mayumi: Was Kirihara the only one who used magic?

Both of them thought back to the two students that were about to cast their spells. Akiri was about to answer, but Tatsuya beat him to it.

Tatsuya: That's correct

Akiri look at him confused as to why Tatsuya decided to hide the truth.

Mari: I see. Thank you for both of your hard work. Dismissed

Akiri + Tatsuya: Excuse me

Both of them said at the same time before walking out of the room.

Akiri: Why didn't you report those two students? If you didn't stop them, they could've done some serious damage

He asked as they were walking along.

Tatsuya: That would only cause further problems. I rather avoid any unnecessary conflicts with them

Akiri: I see. But remember, Tatsuya...

Akiri stopped walking, causing Tatsuya to turn around to face him.

Akiri: Sometimes... Conflicts are unavoidable

Akiri and Tatsuya entered a café that their friends were in.

Tatsuya: Sorry to keep you waiting for so long

Akiri: That meeting went on way too long

The two apologized as they sat down at the table.

Seated at the table were Leo, Erika, Miyuki, and Mizuki. A waiter placed a strawberry shake in front of Erika.

Tatsuya: Don't be shy. Eat as much as you want

Leo: All right, I won't be shy!

Everyone: Thank you for the meal!

Leo: So anyway, that second year named Kirihara used a Rank B Lethal Spell, right? You're lucky you two didn't get hurt

Tatsuya: That spell has a restricted effective range. It's no different than dealing with the sharp blade of a sword

Tatsuya replied.

Mizuki: But you're saying that it's easy to deal with a real sword...

Akiri: Well, just keep your distance and don't get hit. It's not that hard

Miyuki: It's alright, Mizuki. There's nothing to worry about when it comes to Onii-sama

Erika: You sound really comfortable with it, Miyuki

Miyuki: Yes. After all, there's no one who can possibly defeat my brother

Erika: No hesitation at all there, I see!

Mizuki: Anyway, the Sonic Blade Releases high-frequency waves, right?

Leo: They say you can get sick as a dog unless you're wearing earplugs

Miyuki said with a smile and Tatsuya looked at her before sighing.

Miyuki: Of course not. I can see through anything you do, Onii-sama

Leo: You know, that's not sibling banter

Tatsuya + Miyuki: You don't think so?

They both said at the same time and Leo smashed his face onto the table.

Erika: Don't even think about calling out this lovey-dovey brother and sister

Leo: Right, my mistake

Leo said raising his head from the table.

Tatsuya: I take exception to that insinuation!

They saw that Miyuki was leaned up against Tatsuya.

Miyuki: Oh, where's the harm? It's a fact that you and I are bound by intense sibling love

Akiri pinched the bridge of his nose while looking down. Both Erika and Leo smashed their faces into the table while Mizuki had a massive blush on her face.

Akiri: Can you two not do that? I can already hear Sweet Home Alabama playing in the background. Even though it's a joke, it still feels wrong

Tatsuya: He's right, Miyuki. Don't get too carried away, all right?

Tatsuya said with a wink.

Tatsuya: There's at least one person here who doesn't realize we're joking

Mizuki: Joking?

Mizuki said as she looked at Erika and Leo to see that they still had their faces planted onto the table.

Erika: Well, that's our Mizuki for you!

Erika said as she lifts her head from the table.

Akiri: Well, anyway, moving on. If that was Cast Jamming, how did you do it? It's not possible for you to have antinite in your possession

Leo: That's the rock that can block spells, right?

Mizuki: If I remember correctly, it's extremely expensive

Akiri: It's also a military resource, so unless you have connections with the military, getting one is impossible

Akiri joked, hoping to get some sort of reaction from Tatsuya, but he just stayed composed.

Tatsuya: No, I do not have any in the first place. As Akiri said, antinite is a military resource. It's not a matter of price, it's not something that a civilian can get his hands on

Mizuki: But...

Tatsuya then leaned forwards towards the table.

Tatsuya: I'd like to keep this conversation off the record...

Everyone, aside from Miyuki leaned in close.

Tatsuya: To be precise, what I used was something that applied the theories of Cast Jamming... Specific Magic Jamming

Mizuki: Does such a type of magic exist?

Erika: Probably not, but...

Akiri: The theory is there but no one has been willing to follow it

Akiri continued.

Akiri: Logic tells us that if a general Cast Jamming is possible then it should also be possible to jam specific spells as well, but that has some dangerous ramifications

Erika: Right. Doesn't that mean that you've come up with a new type of magic, in theory?

Tatsuya: I think that "stumbled upon it by accident" is a more apt term. When you try to use two CADs at once, the Psion waves interfere, and in most cases, the magic doesn't activate. You all know that, right?

Akiri: Right

Tatsuya: So, you launch a magic sequence that causes one CAD to jam the other, and with the other CAD you launch an activation sequence that has the opposite effect. The activation sequence is reproduced and amplified, and the Psion signals are released as Non-systematic Magic

Akiri: I see. By doing so, you can, up to a point, block an activation sequence of the same type

Tatsuya just nodded in confirmation.

Leo: Are you serious?

Everyone leaned back in their seats and processed the newfound information that they had been given.

Leo: I understand the theory behind it, more or less. But hey, why does it have to be off-the-record? If you patented it, I bet you'd rake in the profits!

Tatsuya: For one thing, this technique still hasn't been perfected. And like Akiri said, this technique could have some dangerous ramifications. The bigger issue is the fact that magic can be blocked without an antinite

Leo: Where's the problem with that?

Erika: You idiot! Of course, it's a huge problem! If an easily acquired technique to nullify magic spells were to spread, this society would be shaken to its foundations

Akiri: Yeah. We have to really think about the consequences if this knowledge falls into the wrong hands

Tatsuya: Antinite isn't yet a realistic threat because its output is so low. Until a method to counter it is discovered, I can't go public with this

Mizuki: That's amazing... To think that you've thought it through this far.

Miyuki: I think you're over-analyzing a bit, Brother. After all, reading your opponent's activation sequence during launch isn't something that just anybody can do. But is that what makes you who you are, Onii-sama?

Akiri: That is a valid point. Very few people can read an activation sequence before it's launched. They would have to wait until the spell is launched at them and by then, it's probably too late to do anything

Tatsuya: Are you two implying that I'm an indecisive wimp?

Miyuki: I don't know. What do you think, Erika?

Erika: Who knows? As for me, I might want to ask Mizuki's opinion!

Mizuki: Huh?! I think... Uh... Let's see...

She immediately got nervous and flustered as everyone's attention was on her.

(Timeskip)

Akiri is currently patrolling around campus grounds on his own. As he was walking around, his communicator from the Disciplinary Committee HQ started to ring and he answered it.

???: This is the student council. A brawl has broken out in Gymnasium No. 1. All available Disciplinary Committee officers are asked to head to the scene

Akiri: This is Amatsuki, first year. I copy

He turned around and took off towards the gymnasium. As he was running, he noticed a familiar face in the distance and decided to call out to him.

Akiri: Tatsuya!

The boy stopped and looked at him.

Akiri: Follow me, I know a shortcut

Tatsuya just nodded and they went to cut through a small forest.

As they were running, Tatsuya noticed that someone was hiding behind a tree, preparing a spell and he warned Akiri.

Tatsuya: Akiri

Akiri: I see it

The two slid to a stop just before the spell hits the ground in front of them. Tatsuya used Specific Magic Jamming to prevent the spell from launching which caused the attacker to get knocked back a bit.

Their assailant immediately turned around and ran away. As Akiri and Tatsuya chase after him, the two noticed a familiar red, white, and blue armband on his wrist.

Akiri: (thoughts) Blanche...

The attacker then used a movement enhancing spell and dashed away at inhuman speed.

Akiri quickly drew Eclipse and was about to cast a spell, but he remembered that Tatsuya was right there next to him.

Akiri: (thoughts) If I use that, it could give away my identity... Better to play it safe

He sighed as he lowered his CAD.

(Timeskip)

A couple of days has passed since the mysterious attack. Currently, lunchtime had just started and the students were getting ready to head off to the cafeteria.

Honoka: Akiri. Will you join us for lunch today?

Honoka asked.

Akiri: Sorry, Honoka. But I'm actually going to the Student Council room again for lunch. Maybe next time, okay?

Shizuku: You've gained yourself quite a reputation, Akiri

Shizuku said from her table.

Akiri: Really? What kind of reputation?

Honoka: Well, several of the students didn't like that you assisted a Course 2 student in suppressing all those Course 1 club members. Some are also amazed that you did so without using any magic

Akiri: So, a mixed reputation then. Well, I don't care about that too much anyway

He replied before standing up and looking towards Miyuki.

Akiri: Miyuki. Ready to go?

Miyuki: Yes. If it's okay with you, can we stop by Onii-sama's class on the way?

Akiri: Of course. Let's get going

(Timeskip)

The members of the student council, as well as Akiri and Tatsuya, are now eating lunch in the Student Council Room.

Mari: Tatsuya? Is it true that you verbally abused the second year, Mibu, in the café yesterday?

Akiri: You did what?

Akiri was turned to Tatsuya to see that he had a shocked look for a moment before sighing.

Tatsuya: Since you are a refined young lady yourself, I don't think you should be batting around vulgar phrases like 'verbal abuse'

Tatsuya replied, which made Mari laugh.

Mari: Thanks! You're the only one who treats me like a refined young lady, Tatsuya

Tatsuya: Is that right? Not treating his own girlfriend as a lady... Apparently, your boyfriend isn't much of a gentleman

Mari stood up with her face completely red and she started getting flustered.

Mari: That's not true! Shu is...

She defended before realizing that Tatsuya was not reacting to her.

Mari: Why aren't you saying anything?

Tatsuya: Should I make some kind of comment?

Akiri was on the verge of laughing but managed to hold it while Mayumi covered her mouth and turned her head away to hide her giggles.

Mari then huffed and sat back down.

Mari: So, is it true that you verbally abused Mibu of the kendo team?

Tatsuya: That's not the least bit true

He answered with a sigh.

Mari: Is that so? I have witnesses who observed Mibu blushing red and looking embarrassed

As she heard that, Miyuki's hair started to levitate and ice began to spread, freezing everyone's lunches and drinks.

Miyuki: Onii-sama? What in the world were you doing?

Miyuki asked in a low, almost scary voice as the room was getting colder every second.

Azusa: Magic?

Akiri: Miyuki, unless you plan to turn us into popsicles, I suggest you calm down

Mayumi was poking at her frozen food while Mari was looking at her frozen drink. Miyuki's eyes opened in shock and she put a hand to her mouth. The ice slowly faded soon after.

Miyuki: Forgive me...

Akiri: It's fine. Although that was quite the Interference Power, Miyuki...

Tatsuya looked at her for a moment before looking towards Mari.

Tatsuya: About Ms. Mibu... It seems that the Disciplinary Committee's activities have earned the students' animosity

Mari: What do you mean?

Tatsuya: Actually...

Tatsuya then went on to explain what happened when he was approached by Mibu Sayaka, who asked him to join the Kendo club.

During this, Miyuki went off to prepare everyone some tea.

Mari: Trying to score points, huh? Mibu's mistaken about that. The Disciplinary Committee is just an honorary post and isn't subject to evaluation

Mayumi: But it's also a fact that the Disciplinary Committee wields considerable power within the school. Some will see you as misusing your authority

Akiri then saw Miyuki putting a cup of tea in front of him.

Akiri: Ah, thanks Miyuki

Akiri said and Miyuki gave him a nod and a smile.

Mayumi: Well, but there is someone who's been manipulating that impression...

Tatsuya immediately stood up.

Tatsuya: Do you know that person's identity?

Mayumi: Huh? No, no, it's just a rumour

Mari: If we knew who it was, we'd have stopped him already

Tatsuya: I don't mean that. I'm talking about the people behind whoever's doing the manipulation

Miyuki: Onii-sama

Tatsuya: For example... The anti-magic international political organization, Blanche...

Mayumi and Mari looked shocked. Akiri flinched for a split second at the mention of the name before regaining his composure.

Mari: What?

Mayumi: How do you know that name? That's classified information...

Akiri: Oh, please. It's impossible to keep a lid on all sources of rumours. Even I've heard of them as well

Akiri added and they turned towards him.

Akiri: Took me some digging around, but nothing could be kept a secret forever

Tatsuya: And on the contrary. I think such matters should be fully disclosed to the public. The government has been ineffectual in its handling of this matter

Mayumi: I agree... Despite the fact that there's an organization hostile to magic, they cover it up and refuse to confront them head-on

Akiri: Then again, this is the government we're talking about here. Of course they're gonna cover it up

Tatsuya: Well, that can't be helped, considering your position, Chairwoman

Mayumi: Huh?

Tatsuya: This is a national institution, and the country is doing all the restricting and hiding

Mayumi: Is that your way of consoling me?

Mayumi became embarrassed.

Ice spreads across the table again. A cold and menacing aura was felt as Miyuki looked about ready to kill someone.

Tatsuya: Gigolo... A brilliant one...

Tatsuya: Hey, calm down, Miyuki, they're just joking

Tatsuya explains and the ice dissipates as Miyuki had calmed down.

Akiri: (thoughts) Note to self; don't get on Miyuki's bad side...

Mari: So, Tatsuya. How are you planning to deal with Mibu?

Tatsuya: I'm the one who's waiting for her answer, so I'll decide after hearing it

Mari: I see. I'm counting on you

Tatsuya: Fine, but at this point, I have no clue what it is I should be counted on for

Mari: Whatever you can manage... That will be fine

Tatsuya: You either have high hopes for me, or none at all... That's quite ambiguous

He said as he put his hand on Miyuki's head and began to rub it. She gained a blush as well as a happy smile.

Tatsuya: I'll do whatever I can manage
