Chapter 5: The End?

Last day of the experiment. Hanji enjoyed herself as well as I did. She said she was moving away to another state... and I was going to be left behind. When she told me, she smiled and said how great of an opportunity it was for her. All I could do was smile and said how I happy for her, but in reality, I didn't want her to leave me.

"Hanji?" I say as I see her packing her bags in her room. I slept in her room last night and she woke up early.

"Yes Levi?"

"Packing already?" I sit down next to her.

"I have to, my ride is coming at 6 in the morning."

"Oh..."

"Levi, why so down?"

"I'm glad for you, I mean it."

"You don't seem like yourself."

"Why not, you're leaving... and I'm staying for awhile. You're basically leaving me alone."

"Levi..."

"Hanji, you don't understand it. I... I don't want you to leave!" I yell, Hanji looks down. "Hanji, please."

"Levi... I thought you wanted me to do this."

"Yeah, but when the day for you to leave came closer... I doubted my actions..."

"Levi... I'm... sorry... I didn't know..."

"Hanji... just please... don't leave me alone." I took Hanji and pulled her close. I laid down and pulled Hanji close to me.

Hanji moved up and kissed me. "I can't... I already told them that I'll be there, and they're expecting me."

"Please..." I begged her.

"I'm sorry..."

I stood in front of the airport with Hanji by my side, with her luggage.

"I guess... this is good-bye..." Hanji turns to me, her eyes avoiding me.

"Yeah..." I hugged her. "Just... be safe. And don't do anything stupid."

"I'm always doing something stupid, Levi."

"You know what I mean."

"I know. Hanji knows what is truly stupid and what is incredibly smart." She says.

"Why are you speaking in 3rd person?"

"Because I'm crazy like that."

"Don't do that."

"Ugh... fine."

"Will you call me?" I ask.

"Yes, I will call you when I land."

"You know I love you." Hanji... why must you leave today?

"And I love you more." I kiss her once again.

"I gotta go... you know that."

"Good-bye then."

"Good-bye..." I watch Hanji walk into the airport, leaving me behind. She smiled as she walked backwards, waving me good-bye. I wave back until she was out of sight. Why did I let her leave? Why?

Hours passed as I waited in the dorm room. I didn't want to leave that place... nor did I want to talk to anyone because Hanji is no longer here... Hanji... I already missed her laughter and her bouncy personality.

The phone rings and I picked it up, Hanji's name was on the phone. She must've landed. "Hello?" I answered.

"Levi, I landed. I'm already on the way to the department."

"Hey, that's nice to hear." I smiled as I hear her speak.

"Levi, you sound different. What's wrong?"

"I already miss you. Come back."

Hanji laughs, "I wish. I miss you too."

"Are you enjoying yourself right now?"

"It's not fun when you're not around."

"I'm not much of a fun person to be around, Hanji."

"So what? I want you around."

"Then come back here. It's not nice to leave me behind." I say.

"Levi, you're making me feel bad."

"Then I'm doing a great job as your boyfriend."

"You need to calm down, Levi."

"You need to come back, Hanji."

Hanji paused for a minute. "Nice comeback."

"Thank you. Now, please, come to me. I want to hold you in my arms again. I want to kiss you again."

"I know, I want the same thing."

"Are both calm right now?" I ask.

"Yeah."

"Call me tomorrow?"

"Of course, Levi. I'll try to call you whenever I can, but there will be times when I cannot call you back. You do understand, right Levi?"

"I understand. I'll respect that."

"Thank you. Talk to you later then."

"Good-bye." I say to her before she hung up.

I wonder... when's the next time I'll hold her in my arms? When will I talk to her face to face? I hope she won't forget me when she stays there. Will she replace me? I hope not, she's my shitty glasses girl, and I'm her clean-freak. I only hope it's not the end of my relationship with her.
