Chapter 7
Michael's POV
Connor's laugh is fucking adorable. It's.... well, I don't exactly know how to describe it exactly. But, it's cute. I'm.. uh, I think I'm kinda attracted to it.
I blinked, feeling my face heat up. Huh. I'm actually attracted to my roommate's laugh. That's weird. Well, it's not that weird. I've had crushes before, I know what they feel like. I'd suffered through one for a few years before. On one Jeremy Heere, my best friend. I'm over that now, it was just fleeting and in middle school of all things. But is this a crush on my roommate? I mean, I only just realized I find his laugh attractive. And well, I mean, his dark hair looks kinda soft, I wouldn't mind running my hand through it. Wait, that sounds odd.
I shook my head to clear it. I'll just wait to see if my exact feelings become more clear, I mean, I haven't even felt the butterflies yet. I was sitting down on one of the couches. I'd forgotten exactly why I was there. Feeling bored, I decided to go for walk. Some exercise is probably a good idea. Connor would be in his classes anyway, so we couldn't like, watch something together. The thought made me smile, watching god awful movies with a friend. I wonder if we should watch one of those terrible video game movies?
I left the building wherein Connor and I lived in a shared room. I paused and gazed out at the fake grass fields. I'm kinda glad I got Connor for a roommate. Everything about this building just screams jock. Well, with the fields of course. It's kinda funny how we've only been living together for three weeks and I may or may not have developed feelings for him already. Again, not entirely certain on that whole thing. As I watched the fields, I noticed that one of the guys seemed to be running over to me. Who the...?
"Mike M!" Ah. That guy.
"Never call me that, Jake," I stated. I looked at him. "I'm assuming your legs are healed? I mean, you ran over to me." Jake panted and made a gesture to tell me to wait for him to breathe. So I waited. We were never close, but since the whole thing a few years ago, Jeremy still kinda had some friends like Jake. That reminds me, I still need to tell Connor about that.
"Yeah bro. It took a few months, but I could eventually walk again. Which meant, I could run again." I just rolled my eyes. Jake straightened, and I looked at him. "I didn't expect that we were going to the same college, Mell! How have you been?"
"How have I been?" I gazed at the sweaty guy in front of me but, I decided what the hell? I gave him smile. "Well, I've been good. I have a roommate that I've been getting closer with." Jake looked at me.
"Bro, you're smiling so widely. Is there something else?" He asked. I shook my head.
"Other than your legs, how are you?" It seemed polite. "And how's Rich, did you guys ever make up?" Jake blinked.
"Me? I'm great. And Rich? I mean, yeah." He looked down. "A-anyway," he said, brightening. Jake then took off in the opposite direction, and I stared after him. With a shrug, I continued on my walk.
I soon found myself nearing an edge of campus I'd never been to before. It was another dorm building but this one was beside a forest like thing. I paused my walk and just looked around. That's when someone tapped my shoulder. "Hey, you're Michael right?" I turned around to face the guy. When I confirmed his question, his eyes narrowed into a smirk and I suddenly realized who it was.
"And you're Jared. One of Connor's friends." Jared looked confused for a spilt second but then smirked again. "Before you ask, I know of you and Evan because Connie's told me about you guys and, since you're smirking and have glasses like me, I'm assuming that you are Jared. Process of elimination, you know?" Jared just continued to smirk.
"Connie?" He questioned and I just looked at him. I made no effort to take back the nickname.
"Yeah, so? Don't, don't you have affectionate nicknames for your friends? Hm?" I asked, remembering Connor's theory and feeling myself smirk at Jared. Jared's expression changed from a smirk to one of anger, his cheeks flushing darkly as well. I bit back a laugh, maybe Connor's theory did have some truth behind it. Jared crossed his arms over his chest but didn't comment. "So, I call Connor, Connie, is that so bad?" I asked. Jared's mood immediately changed when the conversation was no longer on him.
"Oh, it's not." That's all that Jared said. He went silent for a bit. "So, Connor talks about you a lot." Something about Jared's tone made me doubt the truth of that statement. I just gazed at him.
"Well, we're friends and he's my roommate, so that kinda makes sense," I shrugged. Jared gazed at me. "Anyway, I should get going." I turned around. I started walking back to Connor and I's room. I decided to try and sort out what exactly I was feeling as I walked back.
Connor's laugh is... adorable. It kinda makes me smile, thinking about it. It's like, he rarely laughs like that, at all. But when he did, it's just so honestly cute. The way his hair moves with his shoulders, a big smile upon his face. It's just all so cute. It just makes me feel really happy. His hair looks just so soft, and I kinda want to touch it. His eyes are like, this dark chocolate colour, which honestly look gorgeous when they're light and happy.
I paused outside my dorm building.
Yeah, I definitely like him.
