Chapter Seven

          Caspian's POV
We'd been sailing through the storm for three days, with no sign of land. We finally made it to another deserted island, and it looked like no one had been there for a long time. Edmund, Peter, Lucy, and I headed to go find food, but none of us noticed that Eustace had gone off by himself. We found a hole in the ground, a rope leading down into it.

"Do you think we should see what's down there?" Peter asked quietly, and I nodded.
"I'll go first." I said, and he shook his head.
"No. I'll go, and make sure it's safe." I nodded, and he started heading down. We heard a thump, and then a splash.

"It's okay!! Just watch out for the water!" He called up, and I looked up.
"You two go first." Edmund nodded, stepping out of the way so that Lucy could go down first. Then, he went down and I followed him.

"Whoa." Lucy said quietly, starting to step towards the pool, but Peter stopped her.
"Don't. Watch." He yanked a branch off of the wall, and put the end of it into the water. The end started to turn gold, and the gold started going up the stick. Right before it reached his hand, he dropped it, and Edmund stared, shocked.

"And there's the other sword." He pulled his out, and Edmund held onto his arm. He used his sword to get the other sword, and I took it from him. We started to head back, but Edmund knelt down.

"Wait." He dipped a shell in, allowing the gold to take over, and then he picked it up and stared at it.
"Edmund....What are you looking at?" Lucy asked, and he turned to look at her, standing.
"Lu.....Whoever has access to this pool would be the richest people in the world. No one could tell us what to do." For some reason, I felt anger bubbling up in me, and I spoke up.

"Edmund, you can't take anything out of Narnia." He looked at me, furious, and I knew a fight was coming.
    "I do."

         Lucy's POV
"I do." Caspian said, and my heart dropped. Edmund never backed down from something like that.
"You? Since when do you say what people do? I've always played second fiddle! First to him, and now to you! I deserve a kingdom of my own! I deserve to rule!" He snapped, pointing at Peter, who was also getting mad.
"Me?! Don't even start with that! You know dad shipped me off to fight, and he knew I didn't want to! He actually tries to protect you and the girls!" Then, Caspian snorted.
"You've been waiting a long time for this, haven't you?" He asked Edmund, who sneered.
"What do you think?" Caspian's sword came out moments after Edmund's and I grabbed Peter's hand before he could pull his out. He seemed to snap out of it, and I stepped between the two of them.

"Stop!! This is exactly what Coriakin warned us about! I'm getting out of here." I said, heading back for the hole, and Peter followed. We headed back up, and got back to the ships.

"What did you find?" Caspian asked, and one of the sailors, the man whose wife had been taken with Sierra, knelt by the baskets.

"It's volcanic, your majesty. There's not much here." Then, Peter looked up.
"Where's Eustace?" I spun around, just realizing that our cousin was missing.
"Eustace?! Eustace!!" Edmund turned to me, and then he took a deep breath, and sighed, looking back towards the middle of the island.

"I'll find him." Then, Caspian turned back towards us.
"I'll go with you." They headed off, and Peter gently put a hand on my shoulder.
"They'll find him, Lu." I took a deep breath and nodded, silently praying that Aslan would help them find him alive....and in one piece. I may not like him that much, but he was still my cousin.
