Chapter Twenty Four

Ophelia's POV

The day when I woke up with a cold instead of a warm body with me, blinded sunlight peeked through the window of our room without a pair of gray eyes gazing at me, and without a sweet morning kiss from Keira would make my soul living in miserable.

I was too afraid to open my eyes and clamped them tight to avoid myself to watch the tragedy I might need to deal with. I wasn't ready to see I was losing Keira right in my eyes. This wasn't what I had been looking for to finally meet my lover after so many years.

It was unfair, we didn't spend our happiness for more than a year, and she was fucking ended of her life. Hey, I wanted to get married to her and had our babies. Good things would always come to an end too soon.

Bullshit! Gave me back the goddamn life I wanted.

I was startled by a loud and agony male's voice as I felt Morgan loosen his arm from me, and I stood up abruptly without care and let my eyes shoot wide to see what was happening. My vision was blurry after closing my eyes too long, but I could see a figure obviously was Keira. She was still moving!

I eagerly rubbed my eyes, and the vision was getting clear, I saw the paramedic was putting a bandit on her wound and was ready to let her sit in the wheelchair to send her out of the room.

The scene was a mess and vivid, with a few policemen, paramedics, and people running around the area of the meeting room, I never pay attention to who was sending me away from this room, and the last thing I saw was the policemen handcuff Morgan and pressing his head against the table.

Keira was in the emergency room for the operation, and noises included Keira's mom crying and keep asking me tons of questions that I couldn't reply to immediately. I was having difficulty doing something to calm her down, but only absently looked at her and said nothing.

Keira's dad joined next to Keira's mom and side hugging her for assurance and I assumed he was trying to stop Keira's mom bugging me. He was hurt and desperate to know Keira's condition too. I didn't want to share any false information got them to worry since the doctor told me Keira's condition was critical after she lost much blood.

9 hours passed after the surgery, and the doctor informed Keira will wake up after 6 hours or maybe will more than 24 hours since it depended on her stamina. We all were grateful Keira was safe and alive at the moment, but she still had to stay in the ward for a full body check-up before she could be discharged from the hospital.

"Hey, sleepy head," I said softly near my sleeping Keira who was still looking gorgeous in her patient gown tugged in the ward bed, her disheveled silky dark hair and her pale face with dry lips. I took a tissue to wet the water as I carefully dap her dried lips, and I took a hand of hers to press flat on my cheek, taking her thumb to caress my face. I missed her doing that to me and I always felt so much better she did that whenever we were spending time together.

The room was quiet, except for a TV displaying the news with a minimum volume since it was late at night. Keira's parents went back to their house after I insisted that I would take care of Keira because they needed to rest.

"Baby, wake up and talked to me, please? I missed you so much," I forced a smile and let my tears roll down my face after I held for so long. I knew she was okay but I was too overwhelmed too many things had happened to us, and my dad and Keira were at the risk of their lives. I could lose them in a split second is my Keira didn't find out my dad was struggling and sent him to the hospital, and Keira would lose her life if the policemen and paramedics never reached the hotel on time.

"I can't lose any of you in my life, you, my dad, and my mom are very important to me, and I love all of you with all my heart," I sobbed knowing my tears and voice were a mess and disturbing, but I didn't care. I needed Keira to wake up and told me she was okay and alive!

"Oh, my big baby is trying to stop me from my sleeping, huh?"

I swiftly looked at Keira and she was smiling beautifully at me. "So, you're not gonna wake up if I never pleaded with you to wake up, huh?" I huffed as she used her thumb to wipe the tears that never stop escaping from my eyes.

"How long have I slept, Lia?" Keira asked with a cleared her throat and her voice was dry.

I quickly turned to the table next to her and took a bottle of drinking water with a straw, passed it to Keira, and mocked a complaint, "You have slept 10 hours. The doctor said you're supposed to wake up after 6 hours." Meanwhile, something popped into my head and I smacked my forehead, "Fuck! I forgot to let your parents know you're awake! I promised them already." I

Before I could stand straight, Keira quickly held my hand to stop me but she winced in pain. "Easy easy, baby. You have to be aware of your wound!" I quickly said as I sat back in my chair.

"Let them sleep, Lia. It's late," Keira said with a small smile.

"You never know how much they are so worried about you, I don't think they can sleep and I should tell them," I insisted.

Keira laughed softly and said, "Okay, go for it."

After I had made a call to Keira's parents and my parents, I could hear they were so relieved with their tired voices. Keira eventually gave up to convince me to go back to sleep since I insisted to stay and take care of her. She carefully shifted her body as she left a space and gently patted, "Sleep with me tonight?"

I shook my head and said, "This bed is just right for a person to sleep, and I never wanted to hurt you."

"That's fine, you won't hurt me," Keira assured me with a warm smile that could easily compel me, but I cared about her's body condition more than sharing the same bed with her that I missed a lot.

"I know how much I'm pleased with this sweet idea for me, but I will say no. I want you to get a good rest, baby." I indicated the loveseat and smiled, "I will sleep there and we can see each other from time to time."

Keira carefully reached closer to me and pecked my lips as she drew away for her to look into my eyes and smiled, "It seemed like my kiddo had grown up."

"Well, I have to because I'm dating a granny," I smirked at her in return.

"About debating with you, I will give up," Keira said as she gently pinched my face.

"That's a sweet banter, you gotta know that," I winked as I pecked her nose, I stood up and pecked her lips once again as a good night kiss before I headed to the loveseat for sleep.

******

I stirred with opened my eyes after I heard the sound of the door opening, there was a brunette lady holding a basket of fruit, and smiled at me, "Good morning, you must be Ophelia, right? I'm Jenny."

I used a hand to press my mouth for a yawn and smiled in return, "Good morning, Jenny. It's pleased to finally see you in person." I slowly stood up and walked closer to share a handshake with her, thanked her, and helped her to put the basket on the tray table in front of Keira. I smiled at the sleeping Keira and I turned to look at Jenny and said, "Have a seat, Jenny. Pardon me I looked like a mess. I will be right back after a freshen-up.

I walked with Jenny toward Keira's side and indicated the chair for Jenny to sit as before I wanted to reach Keira, Jenny put a hand on my shoulder and said softly, "That's okay, let her get some rest. I will go after for a while."

"Thank you, I will be back shortly," I quickly said with a smile in return as I walked into the attached bathroom to brush my teeth and washed my face.

When I came out of the bathroom I smiled softly at Keira was talking to Jenny with a happy chuckle while they were looking at Jenny's phone, Keira turned to look at me as she happily waved me go over to her side, and she gently patted the empty spot next to her for me to join.

"Look at this, she is such a beautiful girl," Keira passed Jenny's phone to me and looked at the baby girl when I carefully sat next to Keira.

"She looks so beautiful like you," I grinned as I looked at Jenny and I returned the phone to her. Somehow, I could see the baby had her bad father's eyes since Keira had told me about Jenny's full story. At first, I couldn't accept the way she betrayed Keira, but I understand after I calmed down. Jenny just wanted a simple life with her family, but Morgan just used her as a tool to break Keira. I was glad he would spend his life in jail.

Jenny smiled weakly at the photo in the phone and sighed, "I told Edward about everything. I'm lucky he forgive me even though he was upset about it. He told me that he just hates Morgan, but he will always love Jacqueline and me."

"I'm glad to hear that, Jenny," Keira said with an assurance smile at Jenny.

"We had a plan for our second child since Edward wants Jacqueline to get a brother or sister," Jenny broke a wide smile.

"Anyway, we have to thank Jenny for saving our lives," Keira said as she held my hand. I was puzzled as I looked at Keira and waited for her explanation expectedly.

"My apologies, I didn't give you a head up because it was an instant plan Jenny able to swap the thumb drive from Morgan when they had to meet for their deal since he was still her threat. I did connect a phone call with Jenny through my phone just in case she would have the evidence to report police anytime when we get into trouble. I'm thankful Jenny warned me that Morgan is a dangerous and crazy person, but I didn't want you to worry,' Keira finished.

I gently squeezed my hand at Keira as I looked at Jenny and said, "I truly thank you for all your help to save us."

"No worries, that is all I can do for a return, and for what I had done to both of you and the hotel," Jenny said.

"We're even now," Keira assured and gently patted Jenny's shoulder.

6 months later

My dad officially retired and went back to Virginia to spend quality time with my mom. It was splendid to know My dad was speedy recovering after the surgery, and he was strong and active with the sports he like, but the doctor advised my dad to watch his diet since he had high cholesterol.

That was a minor thing to be worried about since my dad will be good as long as he could control his meal. Besides, he like to drag my mom to join him jogging every morning, but my mom was happy to do that as long as she was with my dad.

About Keira and me? We are getting busy, busy, and busy since we had many to catch up on after we were officially promoted as directors of the hotel. Even though we were overloaded with our work but we would give us a short break for a month or two every year.

I paused my pace when I overheard some small chatter about Keira, and I crossed my arms and looked in the direction of three girls who were busy gossiping in the office.

"Do you think Keira is hot?" said a blonde.

"Nah, I would prefer Ophelia, she is my type," a dark hair girl said with a giggle.

"They're both just too lucky. One is Mr. Kendrick's daughter and one is his future daughter-in-law. So, this would be a benefit for them. I have no comment about Ophelia, but Keira was pure luck since she is a smart ass to get Ophelia for her to get promoted," a red hair girl said with a disdained expression.

I slowly walked closer in their direction as the blonde and brunette eyes snapped wide and they quickly hinted to the redhead to stop since she was getting excited with the topic and her back was facing me.

"I heard that Keira was seducing Ophelia, then she fell in her tr-,"

"Speaking of who is qualified to become a director," I interrupted the redhead as I put a hand on her shoulder. I could see her facial expression was stiff and didn't dare to move. I continued, "First, you have to overtime every day and never take a day off. Also, you need to stand by anytime whenever you get a call from the hotel and make sure all problems are solved."

I smirked when I saw the redhead's face was getting pale and made a thoughtful face, "One more thing, you might need to risk your life to be bulletproof to protect the hotel. Can you do that?" I walked away from them and left them behind.

"Such a bullshit!" I huffed after I entered our office.

"Hmm... Somebody gets grumpy again, huh?" Keira chuckled softly and she stepped closer to me as both of her hands cupped my face and pecked my lips. "Who gets you angry, Lia?"

I groaned, "Those bitches never give up to trash you at your back."

Keira was always chill and she gently used a hand to tap my nose and said, "We don't have to mind them, they just need to feed those false information to get entertained. Those will never affect our hotel as long as they're smart and productive in their jobs. Besides, you are my only attention for me."

"That's so sweet," I knew I was grinning like an idiot, taking her hand and twirling the engagement ring and pecking at it.

"Probably, I just need to get a wedding ring just for you since I'm having too many rings on my hand," Keira said softly with a faint smirk.

"No, we must get wedding rings for both of us," I whined.

"Okay, anything for you, my kiddo," Keira said as she kissed my lips softly and rested her forehead at mine.
