Chap.19: Growing Closer

I text my mom to let her know I'm having dinner with Christian and his parents, so she won't worry when I don't come home from school being that she has the day off. I feel kind of guilty not being at home with her, especially since we so rarely see each other during the day and sit down for proper meals and talk, but I plan on making it up to her this Sunday. So hopefully she'll forgive me.

When Christian pulls up to his house, he lets me distribute my weight to support the bike before getting off to open the garage, and then he's getting back on and slowly driving inside. I get off first and wait for him to unlock his backpack from the bike, and before we go inside he closes the garage door.

Once again, I admire his house as we pass through the rooms, and Christian notices my gaze. He smiles at me and slows to a stop as he says, "I never did give you the grand tour last time, did I?"

I blush and shake my head as I say, "But for the record, we were both soaking wet last time."

Christian chuckles and mutters, "Very true." And then he frowns before mumbling, "I wish I would have given Garrett a black eye when I punched him, maybe I could have bruised his ego too . . ."

I bite my bottom lip and tentatively touch Christian's hand as I ask, "You're-You're not going to try hurting him, are you? Christian please don't, Garrett's mean and ruthless, I don't want to see you get—-"

Christian places his fingers over my lips and softly mutters, "Don't worry, sweet Beau, Garrett can't hurt me. He may be bigger, but I'm faster, and he'll fall harder."

I gulp and slowly pull Christian's hand away, he laces our fingers together as I say, "Please Christian, don't go after him? Please, for me, don't do it?"

Christian sighs and raises his other hand to my cheek, he gently pushes loose hair back into place as he softly replies, "Okay, I promise. But if he goes after you again, don't expect me to hold back...."

I sigh and think, He already has . . .

"Is that the best you can give me?" I quietly ask.

Christian smiles thinly and kisses my forehead, and softly mutters against my skin, "That's the best I can do."

I sigh. "Okay, just be responsible."

"I always am," Christian replies cheekily.

I eye him doubtfully, and he just laughs as he slings his arm around my shoulder and leads me through the tour of his house.

His house is beautiful and elegant without being rich in taste; the furniture is new but has a beautiful antique look; and the rugs are plush and cloud-like on my feet. Everything is just so nice and clean and beautifully white, and then Christian leads me to his room, and much like before it's a mess.

I strangely appreciate the mess though, it lets me know Christian isn't perfect and shows me at least one of his flaws. He doesn't hide, and I like that about him. He gestures for me to sit on his bed, as he once again tries to shove everything into his fully stuffed closet. I bite my lip against a smile as I pull out my homework from the day, since I was too preoccupied during lunch time to work on it.

When I pull out my math textbook, a bundle of fabric tumbles out after it. I pick it up curiously, and as I unfold it, I realize it's Christian's shirt. I hold it out to him as I say, "Hey, I still have your shirt you let me borrow. Sorry, I kept forgetting I put it in my backpack."

Christian plops down onto the bed beside me and takes the shirt from my hand as he says, "Keep it," and tucks it back into my backpack.

"Are-Are you sure?" I ask.

"Of course," Christian replies.

I blush and mumble, "Thanks."

Christian smiles and I can feel him watching me, and my blush deepens as I refuse to glance up. If I'm going to get my homework done, I can't afford to get lost in his deep chocolate colored eyes, so I avoid having to meet them. But my tactic only seems to make Christian more determined to make me meet his gaze, and as I'm too focused on not looking at him and ignoring what he does, I'm completely caught off guard when he suddenly swipes my textbook and holds it ransom.

"Why won't you look at me?" Christian asks.

I bite my bottom lip and blush as I mumble, "Because you're too distracting . . ."

I hear Christian laugh, and slowly I peek up from beneath my lashes. He's still watching me, more like studying really, and he purses his lips before saying, "You know, Beau, you can't see yourself like I see you."

"Wh-What makes you say that?" I quietly ask.

"Well, for one I think your beautiful," Christian says bluntly. My cheeks are burning and my breathing has elevated, but Christian doesn't stop there. "And second of all, I need you to know how special you've become to me."

"I-I-I don't—-"

Christian gently hushes me and mutters, "It's okay, you don't have to say anything, I just wanted you to know . . ."

My cheeks are burning, and I bite my bottom lip, completely speechless. How am I even supposed to reply to that? We haven't known each other for more than a week, but despite that, I strangely know what he means.

Christian has grown special to me as well, I've just been too shy to say anything but now that I know how he feels, I . . . I want him to know how I feel too. So with a new, tentative bravery taking root inside me, I scoot forward and take a fistful of his shirt into my hand and softly mutter, "I don't have any experience in relationships, but I want to learn with your help . . ." I whisper before slowly pressing our lips together.

Christian kisses me back, and I hear him drop my math book onto the bed before his hands are slowly sinking into my hair. It feels good —- unbelievably good —- and I want to feel more. I scoot closer and slowly wind my arms around his neck as I pull my body closer, there's only a thin gape between us now, and Christian closes it as he gently wraps an arm around my waist and leans me back onto the bed. My breathing hitches as my fingers dance along the hemline of his shirt, and my hands eagerly slip beneath his shirt and glide across his smooth back. My other hand soon follows, and then they're both painting trails of heat across Christian's back and kneading at the fabric of his jeans.

I've become too lost in my sudden lust to comprehend what my body is doing, but fortunately for one of us, Christian hasn't completely lost his mind to lust. And then just as suddenly as it began, it ends, and I'm left laying on my back heaving heavily as I fight to catch my breath.

Christian still hovers above me with his hands pressed to either side of my shoulders, and his eyes are like dark chocolate now; exotic and sexy and alluring. His hair is messed up from my fingers threading through the thick strands; his lips are wet with my saliva; his shirt is bunched around his waistband, and a thin strip of muscled skin is exposed.

I shiver at the sight of him above me, and now back to my rightful mind, I slowly reach out and caress his cheek as I whisper, "You're dangerous."

Christian chuckles and turns his head to kiss my palm before softly replying, "I can say the exact same thing about you . . ."

My cheeks heat up at his words, and smiling I wind my arm around his neck and gently pull him towards me. And knowing what I want, Christian lays down beside me. He pulls me close against his back, and I shiver in pleasure when I feel his nose skim along the back of my neck, and he whispers, "You're going to end up driving me mad...."

I giggle at his words and smile as I snuggle close into his arms, and I whisper in reply, "You already drive me mad . . ."

I feel Christian smile against my skin, and then together, we sink into a comfortable silence.
