Eight

Alex was awoken the next morning by a knock on the door. She rubbed her eyes and stretched before shouting a 'come in'.

The door opened and three cats standing on their hind legs walked in. One had ginger fur, the other white and the last had a mixture of black and white fur.

Alex knew she should be used to this after a whole day of seeing it but all of just seemed like a dream, a twisted and incredibly messed up dream.

"Your Highness," they said in unison as they bowed.

"First Princess has called for a meeting with you in the garden in an hour," the ginger cat spoke as she approached Alex. "Shall we get you dressed up and all pleasant-looking?"

Alex nodded slightly before being dragged to her bathroom. The bathroom was large and fancy. White and gold tiles decorated the walls and floor. The rest of the room also seemed to stick to the colour theme.

The white cat spilt a thick gel-like rose coloured substance into the bathtub before running the water.

"What's that?" Alex questioned.

"The anti-aging serum," the white cat said before pouring another substance much like the first except this one was of a goldish-bronze colour. "And this is for perfect skin and skin health."

Alex furrowed her eyebrows as she looked into the bath.

"Get in," the cat mentioned calmly.

Alex glanced back at her.

"Get in?"

"Yeah."

"With you in here?"

"Yeah."

"So...I get no privacy?"

The white cat frowned.

"If I leave who's going to cast the spell?"

Alex's lips parted.

"The spell?"

"Yes, for beauty, happiness and luck," she smiled confidently displaying her perfect rows of teeth.

"This place gets weirder by the day," Alex mumbled under her breath before getting in the tub.

The cat threw flower petals into the bath, over Alex as well as some purple sand and another serum before reciting the spell.

"Am I done?" Alex asked, feeling uncomfortable at the stranger watching her bath.

"Yep...but it's advised that you stay in there for about five minutes longer."

Alex sighed.

"Do you have to stay then?"

"You want me to leave? Am I making you uncomfortable? I'm so sorry, Your Highness. I thought you would be okay with the company, you used to be," the white cat uttered as she made her way to the door.

Alex couldn't emphasise how much she hated that phrase. 'You used to be', just thinking about it sent shivers down her spine. She knew she was supposed to be keeping to the act of whoever this Suzy girl was but she just didn't know who she was or how she used to be.

"You can stay, I was just messing around," Alex blurted though her voice came out just as uncertain as her.

"Are you sure?"

"Of course!"

The cat smiled before skipping over to the princess and happily sitting beside the bathtub.

Alex playfully rolled her eyes before submerging herself into the water, enjoying the tingling sensation from the hot water against her skin.

Everything about the bath seemed so foreign to Alex. Never before had she felt this calm and relaxed in water, despite always loving a warm bath.

She felt herself slowly fall asleep. It felt like she was at some luxurious spa, so relaxed that she didn't want time to pass. If only time would just freeze so she could stay there forever.

"Time's up!" The cat yelled as she nudged Alex.

Alex groaned in annoyance.

"Ten more minutes," she uttered hoping the cat would agree but she didn't.

"You're already running late, Your Highness, we must get a move on. You wouldn't want to make the First Princess wait."

Before she could respond, the cat started to drain the water and tugged at Alex's arm until finally she left the bath.

The ginger cat was waiting outside the room and immediately took Alex from the white cat's grip and led her to the closet.

"So, I was thinking today we could go for a more princess-y look since you'll be meeting up with the First Princess. That's why I picked out this red and gold dress for you, what do you think?"

Alex simply nodded, not wanting to tell her she much of a dress person. But now she was a princess. There was no way she was going to be allowed out of her room weary g her usual hoodie, skinny jeans and dirty converse.

After finally managing to squeeze Alex into the tiny dress the cats did her makeup and hair.

"Where in the garden am I to be meeting with First Princess?" Alex asked.

"Just at the entrance," the white cat replied.

"And where's that?"

"Just go down the stairs then take two lefts, one right, another left, go down the next set of stairs, take three right, two lefts, one right, another two lefts, another set of stairs, three more lefts and there's the door."

Alex stared at the cat, waiting for her to burst into laughter and say she was joking but she never did.

She was dead serious.

So Alex just simply nodded before leaving the trio.

"I swear," she murmured under her breath. " I'm going to need a map of this place."

And then she was off, trailing through the castle going to gosh-knows-where...

Alex sighed.

"I really hate Hyunjin."
