The same day:

Tyler's POV

I saw Kenny's finger move ever so slowly.

I backed away from Kenny's bed, spacing a distance of about five feet between us so that I could take in every single movement of hers.

She breathes deeply and slowly moves her head to both sides, like one does in sleep.

A few minutes passed by as I kept looking at my girl, struggling to get back to reality.

Soon her gorgeous brown eyes, which I had missed looking at for so long, fluttered open.

She squints slightly as she looks around her, taking in her surroundings and shifting uncomfortably.

I walk closer to her and say, "Baby, Kenny, it's me. It's alright; you're safe here."

She looks baffled at me, as if she can't hear me.

I reach out for her right hand and take it in mine when she abruptly pulls her hand away.

"Who are you? Get away from me," she says, agitated.

No way.

"And where am I? Take these stupid wires off me," she says, and begins ripping the wires and needles out of her skin.

I immediately reach for her and try to stop her from doing so.

"Get away! Leave me!" she yells, pushing me away from her.

I immediately press the emergency buzzer, which is always next to the patient's bed, signaling for the immediate help of the staff.

Within seconds, there were three patient-care technicians around me, holding Kenny back into place, who was violently pushing us away.

I stumbled slightly, shaken by what was happening. I couldn't think straight.

I look at the patient-care technicians who are holding Kenny back into place and stealing glimpses at me.

Louis, one of the patient-care technicians, calls out, "Doctor Hart!" snapping me out of my trance.

"Yeah?" I asked him in return.

"The sedative, now," Josh, another technician, says as he struggles to hold Kenny back into place.

"Let go of me, you scumbags!" Kenny yells with rage in her beautiful brown eyes.

I rush to one of the cabins that contain the sedatives and soon inject it into Kenny's arm before she can react anymore.

She slowly withdraws herself as the sedative works on her.

Her violent words soon turn into an almost inaudible blabber.

Soon she was unconscious again, only this time because we wanted her to be.

"Man, she's a tough one," Harry, the third technician, jokes lightly.

The other two give a weary laugh.

"Can we be of any assistance?" Louis asks.

"No, thank you. You can leave," I say, and they exit the room.

I look at Kenny, who lies peacefully in her bed.

My head was full of questions by now.

Why was she so violent? Why didn't she recognize me? What was-?

And then it struck me.

What if she lost her memory?

Just then, Erin and Danica rush in, interrupting my thoughts.

"What happened, Tyler? I heard Kenny was acting all violent back here," Erin says frantically.

"Yeah, Josh crossed us on our way back from our dinner. What actually happened?" Danica joins the conversation.

I explained everything, from the smallest movement I felt on my thigh until the exit of the patient-care technicians.

Erin looks at me wide-eyed, while Danica nods, looking at the floor.

"Tyler," Danica says, suddenly alert.

"Yeah?" I ask.

She raises her eyebrows.

I nodded in return.

Yes, she too thought about the possibility of Kenny losing her memory.

"What?" Erin asks, looking from Danica to me.

"Danica, please tell her," I say, unable to say the words aloud.

"The way Kenny behaved today, we just hope she hasn't lost her memory. I mean, it can be temporary memory loss too. Let's just hope it's not serious," Danica says with a hint of uneasiness.

Erin just sits there on the floor with her mouth hanging open as tears stream down her face.

My heart goes out to her. She sacrificed her family life for the sake of Kenna, and she'd be completely shattered if anything happened to her.

"Erin," I say, reaching down for her.

"Why Tyler? Why does this happen to us?" she cries as she falls into my arms.

I wrap my arms around her and say, "It's going to be okay, Erin. It's all going to be okay."

Here we were again, hoping Kenny hadn't lost her memory.

Completely and permanently.
