Arshita's Pov

'Are you alright?'

I contemplated on hitting send as I stared at Shubman's contact but I didn't!.

All it would have taken was one tap, but it just stayed like that unsent saved in the drafts and I felt awful about it for the rest of the day.

It's been a week since Shubman and Siddharth's fight and a week since we talked and looked at each other. Shubman had been a constant presence around me for the lay few weeks and now I was finding it difficult to settle myself in this phase which didn't involved him.

People had been still staring at me giving me curious, apologetic, suspicious and all types of look. And at this point I just decided to ignore them cuz seriously why should I care?

So I juat tuned in and tried to focus on the classes trying not to think about Shubman and all this mess which was proving to be nearly impossible! All thought the say I felt the burden of that unsent message which kept reminding me of everything that had happened between me and Shubman.

After my class I walked over to the library cuz what's better than books to take off your mind from all types of thought!

'I kind of fucking miss you!'

Unsent!

I took a deep breath and closed my phone, I kind of wasn't writing these messages for him, they were for me to deal with my helplessness of not able to talk or look at him.

My phone beeped and I got startled for a moment assuming it to be Shubman but it was from Aditi telling she'll meet me after this class.

As if to pass the time I took out a paper and pen and decided to write something for that contest.

I took out my earphones and plugged in playing 'Hold on by Shawn Mendes' and it felt so illogical that the lyrics were so exact for my situation.

'I was writing for the contest! I'm really doing it! But don't know if it is for you or myself? Hope you'll be happy to know!'

Unsent. And saved to drafts! I really wanted to see how would he react if he would come to know that I was really doing this thing. Maybe he would have given me his perfect goofy dimpled smile while ruffling my hair!

The only thing on my mind right now was Shubman! Me and Shubman! Shubman and me! And so I started writing whatever came to my mind.

When I finished writing, I just stared at the words and felt almost empty.

I didn't even knew why I wrote this cuz I didn't had any intention of letting Shubman read this. But maybe the words were really for him!

"Heyy!" I heard three mixed voices and looked upto find Shriya, Ayushi and Aditi in front of me.

I immediately pushed the paper in my bag from the desk before anyone of them could read it!

"Hii you guyss here?" I asked giving them a small smile.

"Kyuu? Hum log ko dekh ke acha nhi laga?" Ayushi asked raising an eyebrow and I shooked my head.

"No no, I wasn't just expecting you guys, you know after whatever happened" I said looking down when Shriya kept her hand on my shoulder.

"Ayee don't be a dumbhead okay! We were your friends and we'll always be!" Shriya said and I smiled a bit.

"Aur rahi Baat Shub ki toh he's an idiot, he'll be better soon!" Ayushi said and I just nodded looking down.

"Soo—" I asked and Aditi spoke up, "So now the four of us are skipping the rest of the day and heading to our favourite Cafe!" she said.

"Areyy but—" I was saying when Shriya cuts me off, "Dekho no but, no ifs! We're going and that's final so get up right now."

"Okay ma'am" I said and we chuckled. I packed my stuff and the four of headed to the parking lot.

"I'll drive!" Ayushi said and ran to the driver's seat and Aditi sat on the passengers! They both were almost same and they really mixed up well.

I and Chia were at the back and she was talking me how Abhishek and she goes on a date every Sunday and he never fails to surprise her with his amazing setups!

"Abhay is literally the bestt boyfriend I've ever seen!" I said and she blushed nodding.

"Indeed he is!" she said blushing when Ayshu spoke up.

"Aditi capture this moment in the camera right now! Cuz it's veryy rare for her to blush like this!" Ayushi said and we started laughing.

"Shut up you know what you seriously need a boyfriend! Then you'll understand us" Chia said and she snorted, "Nope I'm good mom!"

"Guyss be ready now we'll make you discover a veryy hot veiw" Aditi said as soon as Ayushi stopped the car in front of our favourite Cafe.

"Kyuu yaha toh mujhe koi pahad wadiya nhi dikh rhi!" Ayushi said and we chuckled, "You'll know what view she's talking about once we go inside" I said as we all came out of the car and entered the cafe.

We came and settled on our particular booth. "Woww this place looks pretty good." Shriya said and Aditi wiggled her eyebrows.

"You'll like it more, just a minute" Aditi said winking and the pointed at the hot batista over whom I and Aditi had went crazy the first day we met here.

"Hum yaha pehle kyuu nhi aaye?" Ayushi whispered to Chia too busy staring at the barista!

"Cuz we didn't knew that a barista could be so hot!" Chia said and laughed.

"We'll go and order come" Ayushi said dragging Chia with her and they went to the counter.

I giggled and turned to Aditi, "I missed them!" I said and she smiled, "And what about Shubman? I know the way you look at him in the cafeteria!" she asked.

I looked down and before I could have a chance to reply Ayushi and Shriya came back and settled in too happy after the encounter with hot barista.

We all got pretty engrossed in eating and talking. The time flew with them I really felt a lot better by spending this great evening with them.

After an hour or so Shriya said, "I wish both of you could still eat with us" she said and her eyes were fixed on her plate and the way she spoke up I already Kew where this conversation was headed to.

"We miss you too!" I said and then took a deep breath and asked, "How.... How's Shub?"

It was a simple question but I didn't missed the vary look which Ayushi and Shriya changed and looked down hesitantly and that made me even more curious.

"He seems kind of distracted lately" Ayushi said and I waited for her to elaborate. "We know he's upset but he's acting different lately!" she added.

"We thought it had something to do with your breakup but" she said and added after a second, "But it's like something else is bothering him" she said.

I kept looking down at my pie in the plate and I didn't told them but I knew what was bothering him.

His dad was coming back home tomorrow. I remembered cuz it was the same date as the last submission for the contest. Shubman was pretty disturbed because of all this and it was probably something he wasn't looking forward to.

We kept talking and Aditi changed the topic immediately when she noticed my discomfort and after an hour we decided to leave as it was late.

Before leaving the cafe Shriya pulled me into one of her bone crushing hugs. "I hope you work things our with Shub" she said.

It didn't seem likely, at the rate things were going so I just kept my mouth shut.

"Arshu you're the only person he talks to when he's upset!" she said and I looked at her, "I'm really worried."

I wanter to tell her that I would talk to him, he'll be better or we'll work things out and don't worry and all but I didn't cuz I knew that if I did I would be lying to her.

As soon as entered my house, mom was there in the kitchen preparing dinner! I looked at her and smiled, "Is that my favourite garlic bread and —" I was saying when she looked up and nodded smiling, "And your custard pudding!" she said and walked upto her keeping my bag on the sofa.

"Aaj specially mera fav khana?" I asked raising an eyebrow.

"The thing is I know you're upset and something is bothering you veryy much!" she said and I looked down not knowing what to say.

"How... How do you know?" I asked slowly and she hitted my head, "Cuz I'm your mom" she said and pulled me into a hug.

"I really needed this!" I said hugging her back and she rubbed my back soothingly.

"Arshu whatever the situation or whatever is bothering you I know you'll work it out! And you don't need to tell me now but if you want to talk anytime you know I'm always there okay!" she said cupping my face and I nodded giving her a small smile.

"Thank you mom I love you" I said and kissed my forehead, "I love you" she said.

"Acha ab jaldi se fresh ho jao and then we'll eat your favorite food" she said patting my shoulder and I nodded and went upto my room.

I freshened up and layed on my bed looking up at the ceiling. Thinking about how my life became this messed up.

I was busy staring up when suddenly my phone rang and got startled a bit. I got up and took out my phone from my bag.

I expected it to be Aditi but I was surprised when it wasn't her.

I wasn't able to process this at first as I stared blankly at the screen. It felt as if I was just imagining the name which was blinking back in my eyes and when I was sure I wasn't imagining, I swallowed and accepted the call.

"Hello" I said.

Silence. My heart sank to my stomach.

"Hello" I again repeated, "Shub"

Nothing.

When I thought that maybe he just dialed the no. by mistake and I had lost all the hope of him speaking to me again, he finally broke the silence.

"Can we meet?"
