Chapter Four
"I'm so into you, I can barely breathe
And all I wanna do is to fall in deep
But close ain't close enough
Til we cross that line
So made my game to play in a roll of dice"
--Into You by Arianna Grande
A few weeks later Grant was released from the hospital, with a doctor's caution to take it easy. Of course Grant couldn't be any happier to be out of that place but he was not happy to have paparazzi in his face asking him multiple questions or snapping pictures.
In fact the bright flashing lights gave him a headache as he followed Stephen and Carlos to his car. Grant climbed into the car and put his head in his hands, closing his eyes. Stephen and Carlos got in and Stephen drove off.
"You okay back there Grant?" Stephen asked.
Grant grunted and said, "Not really. Those camera flashes have me a pounding headache."
Carlos glanced at Stephen and said, "Must be the concussion they said you had."
Grant didn't say anything to that. He just closed his eyes and tried to ignore the pounding headache he had. Somehow and he had no idea how, he ended up falling asleep.
🕳🕳🕳🕳
Grant was woken up by Stephen shaking him. He opened his eyes and rubbed them, trying to wake up completely. He looked out past Stephen's silhouette and saw that they were parked outside his flat.
Stephen stepped back and gave Grant some room to get out of the car. Climbing out, he glanced up and down the street. He took notice of how quiet it was and he sighed in contempt.
Stephen and Carlos walked with him up to his flat and inside. Once inside the lights flipped on and a big chorus of 'Surprise!' echoed around the room.
Startled, Grant stared at everyone wide eyed. The room was decorated and a sign hung up on the ceiling that said 'Welcome Home Grant!'.
Grant couldn't help the huge smile that spread across his face and he shook his head at Stephen and Carlos. "I should have known. Thanks you guys. This means a lot."
"No problem bro!" Keiynan said raising a glass to him.
Grant nodded and received hugs and kisses from everyone. Including Candice but it was a friendly one. And for that Grant was grateful. Candice was obviously over him...at least that's what he hoped.
Three hours later Grant was preparing to go to Starbucks and get coffee. The party had ended two hours ago and everyone had gone home, leaving Grant to his quality time alone.
It was 6pm and Grant wanted some caffeine. Badly. So he grabbed his keys, his phone and walked out to his car. Getting in he turned the ignition on and started driving. The whole drive there he was wondering what he was going to do after he had his caffeine.
Pulling up to Starbucks he put his car in park and walked inside, standing in line. When it was his turn to order he said,
"One coffee black with sugar please."
"That'll be six dollars please." The barista said.
Grant handed her six dollars and waited patiently for his coffee. During that time he felt eyes on him and he glanced around quickly before facing the counter again. The bell hanging above the door jingled as the cafè door was pushed open.
Grant glanced behind him and had to do a double take at the woman who walked in. She was beautiful. Long dark brown hair pulled under a hat, beautiful dark brown eyes, the perfect skin tone, and red painted nails. She was dressed in a black sweater, dark jeans and dark brown boots.
Grant was mesmerized by her beauty. So mesmerized in fact that he didn't hear the barista calling his name. He was focused on nothing but her.
"Sir...sir!"
Grant spun back around startled and said, "I'm sorry, what?"
"I said, here's your coffee." She said, a little irritated.
"Uh..yeah thanks." Grant grabbed his coffee and turned around, looking for the girl. He saw her in time turning a corner outside the cafè. Grant rushed out and followed her around the corner. He called out. "Hey! Hey wait up!"
Grant sprinted after her and caught up with her, slightly out of breath. The girl turned around and stood where she was waiting for him to reach her.
"What?"
"I..uh, I saw you walk in and I wanted to ask you what your name was?"
The woman stared at him and in her eyes he could tell she was sizing him up as if he might be a threat. She finally said, "It's Camila."
Grant smiled. "I'm Grant. Uh..is there any way I can have your number?"
Camila smirked. "If you wanted to ask me out then do it."
Grant's face flushed and he stammered. "Uh...I, um..." Grant cleared his throat. "Will you go out on a date with me?"
"Sure." Camila walked up close to him and Grant stared at her face, feeling her breath on his nose. Was she going to kiss him? And then Camila stepped back with his phone in her hand.
Grant was confused. "How-how did you do that?"
Camila smirked again and said, "My secret." She entered her number into his phone and handed it back to him. She started back down the street. "Call me when you have a date." She called over her shoulder.
Grant stared after her retreating figure in confusion and admiration. His heart fluttered as he watched her disappear around the corner.
Oh man. I really have it bad, Grant thought.
Camila
What did she just get herself into?
But he was so cute and adorable. She couldn't just hurt his feelings by rejecting him. She wasn't heartless. Camila smiled to herself as she walked down the street.
I'm curious to see how this will turn out, Camila thought.
But deep down she knew that she was definitely into him.
