Chapter 26

*3 months later*

Dr. Stevens spread the lubricating gel all over my enlarging pregnant belly.
Jimmy was knelt down beside me, holding my hand as Dr. Stevens scanned the ultrasound stethoscope over it.
It took a few moments, then an image popped up on the screen. My eyes adjusted, and I could make out the baby's little head.
"Oh my god," I whispered, a tear rolling down my cheek.
The baby sat still. I couldn't keep my eyes off of it; it was so beautiful.
"Would you like to know the sex of the baby?" Dr. Stevens asked, flashing us a grin.
I looked at Jimmy, shrugging. "S'up to you,"
"I guess so," Jimmy said to Stevens.
"Well," He looked at me, then Jimmy, then back to me. "You guys got yourselves a girl,"
I let out a happy sigh, looking at Jimmy and smiling. His eyes welled up.
"Wow," I whispered.
I stared at the monitor in an awe. This was it. This was our child. Pieces of us.

We headed back home after the ultrasound, us both in tears of joy.
"What should we name her?" Jimmy asked as we both slouched on the couch.
"I don't know. What's your favorite girl name?"
He shrugged. "Skylar,"
"Oh. I've always liked the name Carmella."
"That's a good one."
"It's honestly up to you. I want you to have you fair-share with the baby."
"I like Carmella too," Jimmy agreed, flashing me a grin. "And we can call her Ella for short,"
"Oh, I didn't even think about that. That's so cute."
Jimmy cleared his throat. "What about her middle name?"
"Hmmm..." I thought for a moment, squinting my eyes at the ceiling. "What about Isabelle?"
"That's adorable. I also like Iris."
"Damn, this process is hard,"
"Tell me about it," Jimmy agreed with a chuckle.

Jimmy and I decided on Carmella Iris Fallon. I wanted Jimmy to decide on the middle name for our fair-share.

I pet Melody's hair until she slowly drifted to sleep. I grazed my thumb along her cheek, biting my lip. Words can't describe how much I love her.
I put my palm on her pregnant belly, thinking to myself, this is my child. Pieces of us.
It's funny, looking back of how Melody and I met.

I climbed into the bus and took a whiff of the unpleasant smell. I sat next to someone, whom I assumed was a girl by her slender fingers.
She was hiding her face with flowers. I gawked at her until she let out a whimper of mourn.
I licked my lips, trying to get the words out. "Are you okay?"
The girl finally looked up, and I thought my heart had stopped beating for a second.
Who was this girl?
She had mascara running down her cheek, but I looked passed that: her cute button nose, her glistening dark brown eyes, her brunette hair had a blue and pink streak.
"Hey, you can talk to me. I won't bite." I said, my voice becoming high-pitched from anxiety shooting off in my chest. I put my hand on her forearm, trying to comfort her, but she yanked it away.
"Leave me alone," She said gruffly.
I shifted uncomfortably in my seat, offended. "Okay, okay. Sorry." I put my hands up defensively.
"I-I'm sorry. I'm just in a bad position right now." She said through her teeth, then she pushed a lock of her hair behind her hair.
I grinned, but then it faded. "No worries," I muttered, smirking. "So, uh, what's going on? Is everything okay?"
She ran her slender fingers through her hair. "Just visiting my parents' grave,"
I furrowed my brow. "Oh, I'm so sorry for your loss,"

I smiled at the memory. I looked back at Melody, doing a stroll down before-and-after lane. And now here she is: my girlfriend, my whole, and now she's the mother of my child.
***
I woke up around almost ten in Melody's arms. I haphazardly fell asleep in my clothes; jeans and a t-shirt. Well, uh, I'll just pretend I'm comfortable.
Our faces were so close together our noses were touching. I looked at her until her eyes fluttered open, then I saw her big brown eyes that I never got tired of gazing at looking back at me. Her lips curled into a grin. "Hi," Melody croaked in her morning voice.
"Hello," I said back, kissing her nose. She giggled and sat up.
Then Melody's face suddenly froze. She brought her hand to her stomach, gasping.
"What? What's going on?"
She grabbed my hand and brought it to her stomach. Then I felt a little kick in her stomach.
"Oh my god," I whispered. "That's Carmella! Carmella!" I squealed enthusiastically.
Melody laughed with enthusiasm. "Oh my, Jimmy..."
My eyes welled up. Melody noticed my teary eyes and wiped the tears away. She embraced me, my tears falling.
It went silent until Melody changed the topic: "I might get a haircut,"
"Huh," I mumbled. "Whatcha gonna get?"
"I dunno, maybe get rid of my blue and pink highlights and get blonde tips," She ran her fingers along the ends of her hair. "Maybe make my hair a bit shorter, like here..." Melody lined her hair until it was just a little over her shoulders.
"That sound adorable," I flashed her a grin.

I walked across the street to the parking lot to the sidewalk. I glanced at all the signs until I found the hair salon. I pushed through the double doors, and a bell chimed.
The lady at the desk, who had short orange-red hair, gestured me to come over.
"Hello, do you have an appointment?" The redhead asked, smiling warmly.
"Oh, uh, I'm sorry, I don't." I stammered, biting my lip in embarrassment. Really, Melody?
"Um, actually..." She trailed off, looking at all the people. "Since it's a Monday, we're not that busy, so there should be a stylist that could get you covered."
"Okay, thank you so much." I sighed in relief. "I'm so sorry again,"
The redhead searched for a stylist until she brought out a gorgeous girl with blond hair with waves, she was probably just getting out of college.
The blonde led me over to a chair. I slouched into it, and she put a black coverer over me.
She looked at me in the mirror and smiled. "Hi! I'm Chandler, what's your name?"
Chandler continued brushing out my hair. "I love the name Chandler for a girl. My name is Melody."
Then she froze, and then her lips curled into a smile as if she had just solved a crime. "Wait, I know you!"
"Huh?"
"Your Jimmy Fallon's girlfriend!"
I raised an eyebrow. "Uh, yeah."
"I watch him on Saturday Night Live all the time. He's hysterical."
I smiled. "He is,"
"There are a lot of pictures releasing of you two, like, walking down the street holding hands. You guys are adorable."
"Thanks," I smiled reluctantly.
"I really love your sense of style. It's really pretty and punky. Okay, I talk way too much, sorry, come on over,"

Chandler washed my hair and did everything I asked; get rid of my blue and pink highlights, make my hair spill just slightly over my shoulders, and do blonde tips on my hair. She is a really nice person. She went on and on about how cute Jimmy and I were, my punky style, etc.

I walked through the front door, closing it behind me.
"Jimmy?" I yelled, my voice reverberating throughout the walls.
Then Jimmy popped up in font of me. "WOOH!"
"OH MY GOD!" I laughed. "You need to stop scaring me like that. That's bullying."
Jimmy ran his fingers down my new hair and smiled. "You look so beautiful, as always," He kissed me.
"Thanks, it actually feels kinda nice getting those damn highlights out,"

Later on, Jimmy and I cuddled up on the couch, watching Halloween.
"God, Mike Myers has no chill." Jimmy said.
"He doesn't always die, but when he does, he doesn't." I laughed.
"Relevant,"

I honestly couldn't be happier these days. Sometimes I look back and see how depressed I used to be; how much I hated life and wanted to die. And nowadays, I thank myself for not letting depression take over me. And sometimes, I thank depression because once you've won your battle with depression, you sigh in relief and learn to make every little second in life something big.

Yikes, long time, no update!
I am so sorry for that long wait for a new chapter. Sorry if this chapter is super boring, it was a filler :/ I was having a rough time figuring out what the plot should be for this chapter so I could get on to all the stuff that's coming in the next chapter.

Anywho, the very last paragraph is a big shoutout to all the people who are suffering from depression. I know it's hard, but you will get through it. All you have to do is never give up, and embrace your inner core. Stay strong 💪

Xo, Savannah
