I felt so terrible.
I knew I should've been more responsible.
I should've paid attention.
I could have cared less about how much protection I had at the moment, what was happening right there right now was so magical I didn't put my mind toward anything else.
I was telling her that she would be fine because I was trying to cover myself up for now.
Melody told me that she was running to the store, and I knew exactly what she was getting.
Her instincts are so scarily accurate.
I was in the kitchen, pondering while leaning against the counter. I heard the door open a couple minutes ago, she must be home.
My heart beat rose as the minutes came closer until the results.

I read the results over and over again, making sure I didn't read it wrong.

I finished up after three minutes of glaring at the results.
"Jimmy?" I yelled out, not sure where he was.
"In the kitchen," Jimmy yelled back.
I sashayed over to the kitchen, trying to keep the rage at a minimum level (for now).
"What's up?"
"Jimmy...um, you used protection when we..."
Jimmy nodded, furrowing a brow as if asking where I was going with this.
Jimmy's gaze landed on what was in my hand.
"What's..." He pointed to the pregnancy test.
The pit of my stomach became sour from infuriation.
I handed the test to him, my arm shuddering.
Jimmy grabbed it out of my hand, looking at the results.
I tapped my foot, waiting.
Jimmy looked up at me, all the blood drained from his face. His mouth trembled to say something, but nothing came out.
I stayed silent.
"I, um..." Jimmy lowered his eyes like a scolded puppy.
I raised a brow, waiting for an answer.
"The condom..." Jimmy trailed off.
"What about the condom?"
Jimmy brought his hands to his temples. "It broke,"
I started laughing. "It broke," I clutched my stomach. "Man, that's funny."
Jimmy gawked at me.
I paced around the kitchen. "Did you...know?"
He closed his eyes. "No, not until it was too late."
"Goddammit!" I screamed.
"Melody, no, please don't-"
Jimmy was interrupted by me punching the wall.
I squinted my eyes, feeling my fist going through the wall.
I opened my eyes. I pulled my hand out of the wall, blood slithering down my hand.
I heard Jimmy sigh angrily behind me.
"Melody, can you please..." He trailed off. I turned to face him, tears of anger and fear combined rolling down my cheek. "Why are you so angry about having a child? I mean, it could be a really good thing, you know?"
I paused. "I'm not ready,"
"You know you would be eventually, anyway!"
"Do you not see what's happening here?" I stepped closer to him. "I lost my parents three years ago, pretty recent. I'm not ready to be a parent, I'm afraid to be a parent. I feel like I'm sinning moving on from my parents so fast."
"You're not sinning. C'mere." Jimmy leaned in to hug me, but I pushed him away.
"Just...don't." I said through my teeth.
"Please stop, you're overreacting," Jimmy rubbed his hands on his face.
"Jimmy, oh my god!" I raised my hand to my forehead. "You really don't get it. I don't want this baby."
"Why not?"
I clenched my jaw. "I just told you!"

I promised myself that I would never be angry at Melody, but this really triggered some rage.
I do feel bad. I know I should've been more responsible, and I wasn't. But her reaction was way over the top.
"Okay, just stop! This is getting way out of hand!" I moved my hands around animatedly. "It's. Just. A. Goddamn. Baby. Melody, it's not a sin to become a parent just because you have dead parents!"
I clapped a hand over my mouth, shocked at what had just slipped out of my mouth. Melody's jaw was dropped.
"I-I'm sorry, I..." I stammered. "I can't believe I just said that,"
"Yeah..." Melody gulped. "Me too," She glared at me with her dark brown eyes. "What the fuck is wrong with you?"
"I didn't mean to put it in those terms!" I held up my hands in defense.
"Yeah, I'm sure you didn't."
"I. Didn't. Mean. To." I brought my hands up to my temples again, then started for the door, opening it and I walked out, slamming the door behind me.
