Chapter 2
The following night, I could barely sleep. The silence was deafening.
Looking at the beautiful lights of New York City always seemed to relieve stress. I got dressed, brush my hair, put layers of eyeliner on, and walked outside.
I walked to a café, and happened to pas 30 Rockefeller Center, the studios where Saturday Night Live was filmed.
I've always wanted to see a show here. But, I couldn't afford it.
I looked around near the studios, but then spotted a familiar scrawny figure. Jimmy?
I walked over to him, and tapped his shoulder. He turned around, and his eyes brightened.
"Hey! You're that girl from the bus, right?" Jimmy said, tracing his lips with his finger.
"Mhm," I mumbled, pushing a lock of hair behind my ear. Jimmy was wearing a plaid shirt and jeans. I had to admit, he looked adorable.
"Do you wanna go in and...talk?" Jimmy gestured to the café right in front of us. I forced a smile, and nodded.
"Sure,"
We walked in, and sat at a table. I put my purse strap on the chair.
"So, uh, what are your hobbies? What do you like to do?" Jimmy asked, scooting forward until his face was inches away from mine.
"Um, well, I like to draw." I stammered, fidgeting with my fingers. I wish I had something to keep my hands occupied.
"Oh, that's really cool! What kind of things do you like to draw? Like, stuff like Picasso or Vincent van Gough?"
"Neither. My paintings and drawings are just from mind." I folded my hands, and licked my lips. Jimmy looked like he was so interested. "Do you like being on Saturday Night Live?"
"Oh my god, I love it." Jimmy smiled from ear to ear like a little kid. "All the cast members are incredible. Everything about SNL is an attraction to me."
"I used to want to be a cast member, but then I changed my mind..." I trailed off, zoning out.
Jimmy waved his hand in front of me. "Hello? Earth to whatever your name is...?"
I snapped back to reality. "Melody," I said briskly, running my fingers through my hair.
Jimmy nodded in understanding. "Pretty name. I like your highlights, by the way."
"Thanks," I muttered, lowering my eyes.
"You're really interesting," Jimmy said, biting his lips. "I would love to be friends with you, and keep in touch."
Did the Jimmy Fallon just ask me for my number?
"Uh, sure." Jimmy pulled up his contacts, and I punched my phone number in.
We sat in silence for a few moments. "So, what's your life story?" Jimmy asked, crossing his arms.
I didn't even want to talk about it. I was afraid I was going to get carried away, and make him feel like I was burdening him with problems I should be dealing with on my own.
"Um, well, both my parents died in a car accident three years ago..."
"Yeah, you said you were visiting your parents' grave on the bus. I'm really sorry for your loss." I blushed at Jimmy's kindness.
"My life was going fine, until that happened. I was a fun, energetic, and lively person. Now look at me. I'm this gothic...nobody."
"I don't think you're a nobody," Jimmy said. "I think you're very extraordinary."
I blushed. I couldn't stand his compliments. "Thanks."
"I would love to get to know more about you." Jimmy said with a warm smile. His hand came closer to mine, but slowly yanked it away.
"Me too. What are your interests?"
"Well, I love to watch rom-coms. I'm a total geek, and I hate coffee." Jimmy said. His face looked red, like he was blushing.
"You hate coffee?" I asked, surprised.
Jimmy grimaced. "I hate it!"
"Wow, that's definitely different." Jimmy and I snickered.
Jimmy and I talked for what seemed like hours.
"I should probably get going," I grabbed my purse, and threw it over my shoulder.
"Oh, okay." Jimmy said in a disappointed tone.
We walked out, and a few silent seconds passed.
"You're really fun to talk to. Probably the most fun person I've ever hung out with." Jimmy said with a playful grin.
"Oh stop." I playfully punched his arm. He snickered.
"It's true." Hotness flooded through my cheeks.
Jimmy rubbed his mussed hair. "Talk to you later?"
"Yup." I said with a smile. I waved, and went home.
I couldn't stop thinking about Jimmy. Why was he so interested in me? That's the question that's been swirling in my mind.
I can't fall for him. What if he's just using me?
I can't trust him so easily. But now, I felt like I can't control it anymore.
I wonder what he's thinking.
•Jimmy•
I couldn't stop thinking about Melody. She was the most beautiful girl I have ever laid my eyes on. Everything about her was an extreme attraction to me.
I wonder what she's thinking.
