16 - Demon Time

<Choi Mansion - Confidential Room>

"Sir, I had successfully entered Dr. Yoon's room, secretly." A man acclaimed while standing in front of Sunwoo and Areum who were sitting on their respective sofa.

Sunwoo smoked his cigarette as he grinned, "Present, Junwoo."

"I searched through everything in his room and found out a lot of information." Junwoo revealed.

"Exactly what I wanted." Sunwoo hummed.

"What I figured out from all this is that- he has given up." Junwoo stated, "Maybe because he understood that he can do nothing in this and prioritized his health. These are the copies of his research papers."

Junwoo showed him the pictures, "They are based on a few of his patients at the hospital he works at. I have cross-checked it as well. About Seungcheol's condition, he is simply working to make him less aggressive, as you had asked him to. Nothing suspicious."

"And what about Mr. Hong?" Sunwoo asked.

"He's probably even better." Junwoo nodded, "He doesn't trust Dr. Yoon. He has been meeting a few other psychiatrists and also other authorities in the law firm. He's determined to get Seungcheol sentenced for his crime."

"It's going well." Sunwoo scoffed, "I don't want unnecessary trouble, anyways. And yeah- have you found a way to get cameras or wiretaps installed in Seungcheol's room?"

"No sir and I'll recommend you stop thinking about that. We already have everyone on our fingertips." Junwoo continued, "We don't a search team to show up in the mansion. I hope you understand."

"I get it." Sunwoo agreed.

"So what about Dr. Yoon and Mr. Hong? Do I still need to keep check on them?" Junwoo asked.

"Yes. Even if they are not suspicious, there's no point in taking any risk. Keep up with your task." Sunwoo stated.

<Seungcheol's room>

"What are you talking about?" Seungcheol gasped.

"Yeah, someone tried to enter my room, yesterday." Jeonghan nodded as he sat in front of the older on the bed, "When I wasn't there."

Seungcheol sat up on the bed, his expression turning serious. "Are you sure?" he asked, concern seeping into his tone.

"Yeah." Jeonghan retorted, "I keep a showpiece vase near the door which is bound to fall if the door is opened, and I've made a small circle there as well. Anyone would tend to think that the vase should be kept in the circle and would keep it there but instead, I keep it away from the circle.

Then I always have a pen stuck to the hinge of the door. It falls every time the door is opened, and I noticed it was on the floor. And I always click pictures of my stuff whenever I leave the room and then cross-check when I return. Yesterday, a lot of things were disheveled."

Seungcheol listened carefully as Jeonghan explained his system to him. It was a smart idea, leaving subtle signs to indicate if his room had been tampered with. When Jeonghan mentioned that things in his room had been disheveled, Seungcheol felt a chill run down his spine.

"Do you have any idea who it could be?" he asked, worry etched across his features. "And more importantly, why someone would do this?"

"Of course Sunwoo sent someone." Jeonghan scoffed, "To find clues over what I'm doing. To know if I'm secretly helping you or not. To check my papers, files and all the documents."

The realization hit Seungcheol like a ton of bricks. Jeonghan's theory made sense. Given the current situation, it was entirely plausible that Sunwoo would send someone to spy on Jeonghan.

He clenched his jaw, anger replacing the worry. "And if they find anything... ?" he asked, his voice low and tense.

"Don't worry, that's not possible. I've kept all the documents and stuff in a secret safe in the washroom whose key is in a toothbrush. The safe can't be found and even if someone does, they can't find the key." Jeonghan explained, "The worst that can happen is someone trying to open the safe forcefully which will eventually lead to water flooding everywhere and everything will be destroyed.

But we will still have access to them as Woozi has also kept all those things safely at his end. In my room, I've separate documents and devices which contain the reports of my other patients and some of yours which are non-suspicious."

"You've really thought this through," Seungcheol said, a hint of admiration in his tone. "I sometimes forget how meticulous and careful you are, Jeonghan."

"Can't help it, we've to be extra cautious." Jeonghan nodded, "The person might have already taken the reports to Sunwoo. Even Joshua is taking cautions, making everyone believe that he's against you and doesn't trust me either."

"It's a risky game we're playing," Seungcheol murmured, his mind whirling with possible scenarios. "One wrong move and we're completely exposed."

"That won't happen at any cost." Jeonghan assured, "All of us know that we have just one chance. We can't get caught."

"We won't get caught," Seungcheol promised, his voice firm. "We'll be careful, strategic, and discreet. We'll only take well-calculated risks, and we'll make sure that every move we make is a step closer to exposing Sunwoo."

"Yeah. Now we need to find a way to track Sunwoo in each of his moves." Jeonghan massaged his forehead, "Where he goes? What he does? The people he meets, everything."

"I think I know people who can help." Seungcheol stated, "When I was the CEO of Rose Quartz, I trusted a few people a lot and they are still my trustable people. They are still working there and supporting Seokmin in managing everything.

Wen Junhui, Xu Minghao, Boo Seungkwan and Chwe Hansol. Other than them, Hoshi might bring Dino too. He's the co-owner of Hoshi's dance academy and I personally know Dino as well."

"Oh okay, are you sure about them?" Jeonghan hesitantly asked.

Seungcheol nodded confidently. "I'm sure," he asserted. "I trust them implicitly and they're reliable. They won't let us down."

He knew that Jeonghan's wariness was understandable, but he believed wholeheartedly in the people he had worked with during his time as CEO of Rose Quartz.

"I've worked closely with them before, Jeonghan," he reassured. "They're loyal and skilled. They can help us gather information discreetly."

"Alright then, if you trust them, I'm fine with it." Jeonghan agreed.

"Seokmin will talk to the RQ members and Hoshi will talk to Dino, it will work." Seungcheol stated.

"Hmm I'll talk to Mingyu and Wonwoo too, they'll help. Apart from Woozi, they are also my close colleagues, and of course you don't know them." Jeonghan explained, "They know a few bits of this case but they do need a briefing."

"Alright, that's settled then," Seungcheol said, the corner of his mouth twitching upwards in a slight smile. "We'll get everyone debriefed and start planning our next move. We're in this together, Jeonghan."

"Sure thing." Jeonghan nodded, "I'll talk to Joshua about all these new recruitments."

"Good plan," Seungcheol replied, a hint of relief in his tone.

He appreciated Jeonghan's initiative and the way the younger made it a point to always keep him updated on the case's developments.

Seungcheol reached out and placed a gentle hand on Jeonghan's leg, giving it a light squeeze. "You're doing great," he reassured the younger, his voice sincere.

"You too." Jeonghan placed his palm on top of the older's, "Specially after being trapped here. I just want you out of all this as soon as possible."

"Don't worry about me," Seungcheol said, his voice gentle as he looked into Jeonghan's eyes. "I'm okay here. As long as I know that you're all working on my case and getting closer to the truth, I can wait a little longer."

Jeonghan chuckled, "It will be fine."

Seungcheol smiled, Jeonghan's optimism contagious. "It will be more than fine," he agreed.

He enjoyed these moments, where he could sit in silence with Jeonghan, just appreciating the others presence. It felt grounding, a reminder of the light at the end of the tunnel.

Jeonghan passed a small smile, simply admiring the older. Every moment spent with Seungcheol was a reminder of why he fell for the older, way too deep.

As their gazes met, a moment of silence settled between them. Neither of them spoke, but their eyes said more than words could. The air was thick with unspoken words, with the weight of their emotions.

Jeonghan's thumb gently caressed the older's palm, almost unconsciously.

Seungcheol allowed himself to get lost in the feeling of Jeonghan's touch He watched Jeonghan, taking in every small detail. The slight part of his lips, the soft flutter of his eyelashes, the barely-there furrow of his brow. He wanted to hold onto this moment, to freeze time and bask in Jeonghan's presence just a little longer.

Jeonghan's eyes flickered back up to meet Seungcheol's gaze, surprised to find the older watching him intently. "What?" he asked, a small, self-conscious smile playing at the corners of his lips.

Seungcheol didn't respond immediately. Instead, he continued staring, as if he was memorizing every feature of Jeonghan's face. "You're beautiful," he finally said, his voice low, almost reverential.

Jeonghan chuckled as he looked away, "Stop teasing me."

Seungcheol reached out and gently grasped Jeonghan's chin, turning the younger's face back towards him.

"I'm not teasing," he stated firmly. His eyes roamed over Jeonghan's face, taking in every feature, every detail. "You are beautiful."

His free hand reached out, fingers gently tracing along Jeonghan's jawline, the slope of his nose, the contour of his lips.

Jeonghan shuddered slightly at the sudden touch as his cheeks turned warm, his heart racing as his eye lashes fluttered to look down and avoid eye contact.

Seungcheol noticed Jeonghan's reaction, the way his cheeks grew warm under his touch. It was endearing, seeing the usual composed Jeonghan becoming flustered.

He continued his touch, tracing the side of Jeonghan's face lightly, before moving to tuck a strand of hair behind the younger's ear.

"Why are you so shy all of a sudden?" he teased lightly, a small smirk playing at the corners of his mouth.

"I myself don't know." Jeonghan fiddled with his fingers.

Seungcheol chuckled, amused by Jeonghan's sudden shyness. He was used to the younger's bold nature, especially during their first date. Now, seeing Jeonghan fidgeting and blushing, was a sight he found incredibly endearing.

He couldn't resist teasing Jeonghan a bit more. He reached out with his still cuffed hand, the small chain jingling softly. He gently caught Jeonghan's wrist, tugging the younger closer to him.

"No more avoiding eye contact," he said, a hint of playfulness in his tone.

"What are you doing?" Jeonghan gasped.

"Making sure I have your full attention," Seungcheol teased, his voice dropping an octave. His free hand moved to Jeonghan's side, resting on the younger's waist, pulling him further into his lap.

"You're just trying to take advantage of my flustered state." Jeonhan mumbled.

Seungcheol chuckled, "Perhaps," he admitted unabashedly. He tugged Jeonghan a bit more, until the younger was fully settled in his lap. He wrapped his cuffed arm around Jeonghan, holding him in place, "You look adorable when you're flustered."

"Seungcheol-" Jeonghan's hands landed on the older's shoulder, "Sleep!"

"But I'm not tired," Seungcheol protested lightly, a playful gleam in his eyes. He leaned in, whispering close to Jeonghan's ear, "Why do you want me to sleep all of a sudden? Are you trying to run away?"

Jeonghan unconsciously whimpered at the tickle of the older's breath beneath the sensitive skin of his earlobe.

Seungcheol leaned even closer, his lips brushing against the shell of Jeonghan's ear. "Did you like that?" he murmured, his voice low and intimate.

"Shut up." Jeonghan breathed out.

Seungcheol continued to speak, his lips still close to Jeonghan's ear. "You're not denying it," he pointed out, his tone light and teasing.

His hand slid from Jeonghan's hip to the small of his back, fingers tracing small circles through the fabric of his shirt.

Jeonghan clutched the older's shoulders, "Seungcheol stop, it's tickling."

"But I like your reactions," Seungcheol responded, his voice barely above a whisper, his lips moving against Jeonghan's earlobe. His hand continued its path down Jeonghan's back, drawing mindless patterns with his fingertips.

"You're just enjoying having me under your fingertips." Jeonghan's head fell back just slightly, exposing his neck.

Seungcheol's eyes darkened as the expanse of tender skin was far too tempting. He leaned forward, his lips gently grazing the sensitive flesh of his neck. "Guilty as charged," he murmured against Jeonghan's skin.

His hand that was on Jeonghan's hip moved upwards, sliding underneath the younger's shirt and resting on the bare skin of his waist.

Jeonghan shivered at the older's touches, his grip on his shoulders tightening further.

Seungcheol continued to trail his lips along Jeonghan's neck, relishing the feel of the younger's skin and the subtle reactions he elicited. His hand slid further up Jeonghan's back, fingertips tracing a path along the younger's spine.

He could feel Jeonghan's shaky breaths and the vice-like grip on his shoulder. "You're so sensitive," he said, his voice a low rumble against Jeonghan's collarbone.

"And you just love it." Jeonghan gasped out a whimper.

"Damn right," Seungcheol agreed, his lips curved into a satisfied smile.

He continued his exploration of Jeonghan's neck and collarbone, his touch featherlight yet filled with underlying possessiveness. His hand on Jeonghan's back tugged gently, pulling the younger even closer.

Jeonghan squirmed at each of the older's touches as if trying to escape his grip but asking for more at the same time.

"You know you can tell me to stop," Seungcheol mumbled against Jeonghan's collarbone, placing a soft kiss there before speaking again. "But I don't think you really want me to."

"You're-" Jeonghan's lips parted into a gasp, his hair messy as his heart thumped, "mean."

Seungcheol pulled back slightly, enough to see Jeonghan's flushed face. He raised a hand to brush a stray strand of hair away from the younger's face, his touch surprisingly gentle.

"Only a little," he admitted with a smile, his thumb tracing the contour of Jeonghan's lower lip.

Jeonghan leaned into the older's touch, his eyes fluttering close as he felt the intimacy of the moment.

Seungcheol leaned in, resting his forehead against Jeonghan's, his fingers still gently tracing the younger's cheek. "You drive me crazy, you know that?" he muttered, his voice a soft murmur.

Jeonghan opened his eyes, looking at the older as he held Seungcheol's cheeks as well, "I never want to leave you."

Seungcheol chuckled as he kissed the younger's forehead, "I know you won't. And neither will I."
