Laksh shot a quick look at his watch,then at person seated before him.The hands of watch ticked 10.30 pm

"Sanskaar .. "he called out slowly "bahut dher ho gayi hain ..chalo nikalte hain," he said wishing he would listen to him at least today.

"Woh... kuch tender ka kaam haina .. tum niklo Laksh ..main baad main.."Sanskaar didn't even look up from the file and that broke restrain of Laksh.

"Aur kitne mahine Sanskaar .."Laksh stood up with force from his chair "it's been 4 months Swara left ..and here you are, do u have any clue what are you doing to yourself .. you are killing yourself, damn it." Laksh bursted out raking his hair in frustration .Though they had not been bound by blood, laksh always considered Sanskaar to be his brother, a guide, a friend and he can't see him ruin himself.

Sanskaar didn't say a word and stared blankly at him. After a while" Lucky .please..". was all he said ..it was almost a plea to leave him alone. Laksh sighed defeatedly. He stepped out for while and came back " Woh maine dinner order kiya hain ... Please thoda khaalo" he said placing the food pack on table .That was the least he can do. Sanskaar simply nodded but laksh knew he would eat nothing.

He stepped out of Karma's office , his mind drifting back to events that turned Swara and Sanskaar's life upside down 4 months back .Swara's letter left sanskaar devastated to the core and he knew there was only one place she would go " Shanti Nivas", but he didn't step there , not even once in past few months. The pain of Swara leaving him was too much for him to bear....

When Swara walked into Shanthi nivas, after that fateful night , it was nothing less than chaos. None of them could decide on right and wrong . when everyone in Gadodia house unanimously agreed ,It was wrong on Swara's part to hide the truth from Sanskaar,they couldn't even side Sanskaar for his ultimatum to make a choice. There were mixed views from all of them but Swara was adamant on her decision..to go ahead with pregnancy and that had put all discussions to rest.It was not an easy decision at all ..to leave her Sanskaar ..but she knew how adamant he can get when it comes to her .She tried talking to him once again but he was not ready to listen and that left her neither much choice nor time to think ..Her eyes blurred with tears as she wrote that letter..

Sanskaar,

Tumne mujhe ek ko chun ne ko kaha.. Lekin hum toh ek hai na, har tarah se..iss liye main hamare bache ko chunti ho .. jaanti hoon tumhe bahut dard hoga , lekin tumne mere paas aur koi raastha choda hi nahi .. main jaa rahi hoon iss yakeen se saath ki hum phir se ek hojayenge ..main aur hamara baby tumhara intezaar karenge Sanksaar...

She left him ...'His Shona left him 'every time that thought came into his mind ,Sanskaar went mad with pain.That was first time he felt all alone ..he hardly stayed at their house, for it reminded him of shona.He buried himself in work . so much that it burned him out, but he least cared ..He didn't know if he was right or wrong ..He didn't know if he was angry with himself or her, but the pain didn't let him think through . He locked himself in defence to his bleeding heart and soul ..He didn't want to hear anything related to her, not a thing and the message was clear to Sujoy and rest of Gadodia family but no one wronged him .. his plight was understood.

Laksh was against Ragini;s idea of not letting Swara know the state of Sanskaar "Laksh .. Swara ki halat bahut delicate hain ..woh already pareshaan hain .. if she knows about Sanskaar....woh aur pareshan ho jayegi , it's not good for baby" and he stayed mum.Whenever Swara asked about Sanskaar, Sujoy and Ragini would tell her, he busied himself in work . Swara knew Sanskaar would be in pain without her but she had no clue about intensity of his pain. As months passed she waited counting days..that he would come for her and baby ..but he didn't. Still Swara stood strong , she has to for 'their baby' She took her meds on time ..and followed Doctor's instructions carefully , attended her checkups on time.

" Main tumhe kuch nahi hone dungi " she would tell baby " Dekhna tumhara papa bhi bahut jaldi hamare paas aajayenge .. bahut pyaar karte hain woh tumse..mujhse bhi jyada.." She recalled all those happy moments , Sanskaar's excitement then,their discussion about kid." Pata hain papa ne aap ke liye room bhi ready kar liya..and it's a lovely one ,with loads of toys.your papa loves you baby.." And she would never get tired, talking of Sanskaar to the baby...and that was only way which kept her emotions at bay for doctor clearly mentioned how emotional state of mother could affect the child.As for Sanskaar he never stepped into kids room, from the time Swara left.

That day Laksh dropped in to Shanti Nivas to pick up Ragini.

"Acha Swara ..tho hum chalte hain .. dhyan rakhna apna .." Ragini gave a warm hug to her sister and got up to leave."Chalta hoon .."Laksh simply nodded looking at Swara and started to leave.

"Laksh .." Swara called him

She had been noticing laksh had been acting weird with her from past few months . He hardly spoke with her mostly tended to avoid her ..but today she wanted to ask him "Woh Sanskaar ...." She paused for a second " Woh Teek haina..Matlab....?"

Though from sujoy and Ragini she had been hearing about Sanskaar somehow that didn't settle with her . she felt restless ..and these days the restlessness just grew.

Laksh fingers curled into fist..the face of broken Sanskaar whom he watched everyday dying bit by bit flashed across him." Kya sun na chahthe ho tum Swara .. whatt do you expect me to say ..ki sanskaar teek hain, jaise tum soch rahi ho ..ya phir ye log tumhe bata rahe hain.. " he bursted out

Laksh .. Ragini tried to stop him but halted as he raised a hand " Aaj tum bhi mujhe rokh nahi sakthi ragini .. aur koshsis bhi mat karna," he warned her and Rgaini backed off at his angry glare .Laksh turned to Swara "aur tum Swara, what I dont get is, tum aise sawaal pooch kaise rahe ho, jab tumhe pata hain ki tumhare bina Sanskaar ki kya haalat hogi."

Tears gently rolled down Swara's cheeks.

But Laksh was in no mood to stop " Sun na hai tumhe suno .. Paagal ho gaya woh ..poora din kaam kaam kaam .. jaise koi bhoot sawara ho uss par .. naa teek se sota hain ..naa teekse khata hain ..naa baat karta hain ..jaise duniya ke saath uski rishtha ktham hogaya.....ye jo asoon hain na tumhare ..these tears .. atleast you have your family to wipe them off ..lekin Sanskaar ...." He paused taking deep breath and calming down his rage "tum uska sab kuch ho swara ..aur ye baat tum bhi jaante ho you are his life and when someone's' life abondon's them .. woh zinda nahi keh laata .. tumhare Sanskaar ki bhi haalat aisa hi hain...pehle insaan ko maardo ,phir pooch ki zinda hain ya margaya ..kamaal karti ho tum bhi Swara," he paused and his tome mocked her "aur kuch sun na hain ..." Done with venting out Laksh turned to Ragini who stood fuming at him .Least caring " Gaadi main hoon .. aaajvo," he left from there .

Swara looked at Ragini, tears welling up in her eyes "Jhoot kaha na tum logon ne mujhse ki mera Sanskaar theek hain.."

"Swara ..hum bas .".Ragini tried to explain

Not hearing a word from her Swara walked off to her room crying. About to go behind her Ragini halted hearing horn of car ..Laksh is waiting for her. Ragini stood rooted to spot confused where to go ..Laksh is in murderous mood she knew and it will just fuel him further if she didn't make a move now ... but Swara ..

Sharmistha who had been an silent witness to scene came for Ragini's aid " Tum jao , Shona ko main sambhal lungi."she assured Ragini and made her way towards Swara's room. Swara sobbed silently .Can she really blame Sujoy and Ragini.Didn't she knew " Tumhare bina jeene ki himmat nahi tumhare Sanskaar main" she recalled his words ...and she left him.Was it her over confidence that Sanskaar would somehow come back to her, or her zidd on she being right.

As Sharmistha reached Swara's room ,She heard silent sobs from behind doors 'Shona' .. she gently called out and walked in pushing the doors slightly

"Maa.." Swara reached her for comfort " Sab meri wajah se hua hain .. mere Sankaar aapne suna laksh ne kya kaha ..kitni paagal thi main ..maine soch bhi kaise liya ki Sanskaar mere bina theek hoga . mujhe ..mujhe ussE samjhana chaiye tha .. lekin maa, woh maan nahi raha tha .. aur mujhe darr laga ki ..mujhe dono chahiye maa..main kisi ek ko kaise chun sakthi hoon..issliye maine ...aise " She cried and cried .Sharmistha didn't stop her.

After her sobs calmed down Swara looked at Sharmistha " Maa..kya main galat thi?"

" Haan ..tu galat thi Shona,"Sharmistha didn't blink once before saying that." Why don't you put yourself in Sanskaar's shoes and see ? Tumne itni badi baat usse chupayi ,jab tu jaanti hain ki ..Tu Sanskaar ke liye uska sab kuch hain ," Swara leaned on Sharmistha's shoulder, as she held her hands gently " I am not saying Sanskaar is completely right either .. usse teri baat sun na chahiye tha .. he shouldn't have made you choose ..lekin uss waqt shayad usse woh teek laga .. like you felt ,your decision was right for you both.Tu samaj rahi haina."

Swara nodded in consent.How wrong was her one dimensional approach..May be she should have stayed back .. worked out something together. " Maa.. ab main Kya karu?" she asked

"Bas aaram karle and dont worry ..trust your love Shona .. you both fought against all odds and got together..khaas kar tu ..jaise Sanskaar bulata hai tujhe : Jhansi ki rani, Tujhe strong rehna hoga .. aur Sanskaar ki fikr mat kar .. apni beta dyaan rakhna aata hain mujhe.." She held Swara's hand in assurance and wiped tears of cheek.

"Maa..Aap yaha?" Sanskaar asked surprised as Sharmistha dropped into Karma's office that day.When she realised she got lunch for him he protested," Iski kya Jaroorat thi maa.."

"Sujoy aur laksh ne sab kuch bataya mujhe ..t bilkul apna dhyan nahi rakh raha haina na , maa hoon tumhari, Fikr tho hogi na ..issliye chupchaap aavo aur khaan khalo .. sab tere fav banaya hain."She opened the carrier." aur roz subha shyam , khaana bhejungi,poora khaana padega.." she passed an ultimatum for which Sanskaar nodded and joined her. As he took a piece of roti and sabji .. he knew who made his favourite 'dum aloo'. A tear slid down from his eyes and he didn't feel the need to stop ..midst tears he continued eating,countless emotions sweeping him over, Sharmistha watched him silently as he finished lunch.

"Aap ko itni takleef karne ki kya jaroorat thi Maa"he asked post lunch.

"Iss main takleef kaisa Sanskaar ..apne bache ke liye tho kiya hain .."Sharmistha packed back carriage and gently held his cheek before leaving "ek maa ke liye apne bache se badhkar kuch nahi hota duniya main..kuch bhi nahi.." and that hit him, hit hard "ye ehsaas hi, you are carrying a life inside you ..woh sirf ek maa samaj sakti hain Sanskaar.. Aur koi nahi aur tumhare shona bhi aaj wahi par khadi hain...aur intezaar kar rahi hain...apne Sanskaar ka ..," she gently patted his cheek and left leaving a stunned Sanskaar behind.

"Ye aap ne teek nahi kiya laksh .. kya jaroorat thi swara ko woh sab kehne ki .. you know her condition..."Ragini expressed her disapproval on Laksh's out burst over Swara.

"Pata hain mujhe "Laksh replied in a calm tone checking his laptop " but it's important for her to know sanskaar's condition too .. Ek tho usne itni badi baat chupai and you expect people not to react ..."

"But what about sanskaar's ultimatum .. wasn't he wrong in asking her to choose?"

"Ofcourse .. tum dono behene kabhi galat ho hi nahi sakthi na,"Laksh retorted " You are always right ..baaki sab galat hai.If Swara had a reason ..you should know Sanskaar had a reason too... and I have no clue why are we fighting over this."Laksh sighed impatiently.

"Aap teek kehrahe hain laksh ji," Ragini settled next to him,"hame kuch karna chaiye ki ..woh dono saath hojaaye."

"Lekin kaise Ragini?Laksh expressed his concern,"Sanskaar don't want to know a thing about Swara..and Sujoy told me Swara tried calling him few times but he didn't respond...I guess he's too broken.."

Ragini though for a while turned to laksh excitedly " I guess I have a plan."

Sanskaar walked into the house ..which is nothing more than deserted ,isolated place for him. He sank down on couch in living room tired and closed his eyes .

Sanskaar ..

'Shona'... Sanskaar jerked and shot open his eyes at voice looking around .. and there was none.Pushing aside the pain now much familiar to him, his eyes fell on cover which he had been carrying.

"What is this Laksh?'Sanksaar looked at cover when laksh handed it over to him..

" Tumhare liye hain .. ghar jaake dekhlo." was all he said.

Sanskaar opened the cover and found a set of CdS .. Wondering he made his way towards TV in living room inserted the cd into player . About to step back ..he halted as he heard faint sound of heartbeat..a gentle thumping

" Dekhiye ye baby ka heart hain.." Sanskaar went still in his place for a second turned back and what he saw next few minutes blew him away . A little form moved slowly on the screen and Sanskaar's eyes widened in wonder .As he watched further tears of joy welled up in his eyes, freely spilled over his cheeks." their baby... Wiping over tears he hastily reached out to other cd's and played one after another, losing the count of number of times.. And every time he watched what an incredible beautiful feeling it was just to hear and watch life of their child..

And he wanted to take his life away...That was first time Sanskaar felt disgusted about himself.. He wanted to kill their child..the symbol of their passionate union , a part of Shona and Sanskaar How could he? "I am sorry baby..I am sorry, "mumbling he sank down and held all the cds close to his heart and cried" tum aise soch bhi kaise sakte ho .. hamara bacha hain .. hamara .. Swara's tear stricken face flashed before him. And tears flowed in never ending stream. After what seemed like hours , he silently got up , wiped his tears off,that was first time in all these months , he stepped into their kids room.

After walking for a while ,Swara settled on their favourite bench.Her hands gently rubbed the belly " Tumhe pata hain baby .. ye na maa aur papa ka na favorite place hain ..her eyes and voice softened as her hands gently traced their names carved with Stone " Shona aur Sanskaar.."she whispered even more softly.

"Dhyan rakho apna" he was next to her then ,when she sprained her leg. At the same place and she missed him ." Kaash Tum yaha hote Sanskaar..mere paas, mere saath.". She watched at dipping sun for a while and rose to go back but her head felt dizzy all of sudden , she thought she would fall if not for two arms which held her strongly and she knew who it is even from being closed eyes ..she could sense him " her Sanskaar" and when he said 'Shona' her eyes turned misty ..oh ! how much she missed hearing him take her name . She gently opened her eyes ..as they caught sight of each other time froze. It felt a minute ago ,it felt like an eternity.

As he walked into shantinivas determined to make up every pain he had given her , he caught a sight of her ..sitting on their fav bench .. he could sense her hands were wrapped around belly and his immediate instinct was to run and take his shona, with their child into his arms , cradle them ,wipe away every pain.He stopped in tracks as she rose and as soon he sensed she is about to fall ..he rushed to her . The moment he took her into his arms .. he knew how much he missed her , how much he had dying to hold her and when she looked at him with mist in her eyes, he choked up with emotions .. she held the same love and devotion for him ..he couldn't find words on how to start where to start .."Sambhalke" was all he said and her reply as she smiled softly " Tum ho na mujhe sambhalne ke liye" he could take it no longer . He wrapped her in gentle hold, her hands held him close ..they both were crying, they knew but none felt the need to stop .His lips brushed her forehead softly and stayed there for long " I am sorry Shona ...I am sorry.. " he mumbled in between .." I am sorry too.." she mumbled hiding her tear stricken face into chest ..and today these tears were for a right reason .. tears of happiness 'her Sanskaar is back ..her shield , her strength.

Sharmistha and Sekhar stood watching them from behind ...they looked like same Shona and Sanskaar who years ago as kids would sit on the same bench and watch the sunset ...years passed , many things have changed but not them.Sharmistha held the hand of Sekhar and smiled through tears.

" Ghar chale?" Sawara asked still leaning on his shoulder and drawing warmth from his hug . "Ghar par hi tho hain,"Sanskaar silently got from bench and Swara held his hand , the fear in her eyes clearly visible that he would leave.

"Sanskaar ,tumhara samaan andar rakha vadiya," Sharmistha came in and Swara glanced back and forth from Sanskaar to her mom "Matlab tum yaha ? "Swara asked pleasantly surprised and assurance in his eyes was enough for her.

"Thand lagjayegi jaldi aa jaavo,"Sharmistha left from there. Sanskaar settled back on bench and held Swara's hand " Shona ..main yahi hoon .. aur hamesha rahunga,kyunki hum dono ko ek dusre ki jaroorat hain ..aur," his hand softly moved on belly "baby ko hum dono ki." Swara nodded with smile and he led her back into the house and that night they just talked and talked..It had been a night of apology ,acceptance , assurance, promises and love.

Sanskar gazed for long at Swara sleeping next to him. When she left she was just 3 months pregnant ..now it's her 7th month. He missed precious 4 months period of of their child's growth, " I am sorry baby ..ab papa aapka aur mummy ka bahut ache se dhyan rakhenge ..ok ," Swara's lips curved upwards hearing him .Oblivious of this he pressed a soft kiss on her belly " I love u " and 3 more.

"Saare kisses sirf baby ke liye hain," Swara's sleepy words alerted Sanskaar. A Soft sweet smile played on her lips as he jerked up." Soyi nahi tum," he asked softly leaning next to her. Swara hand reached out to his hand " Darr lag raha hain Sanskaar..ki....." her hand unknowingly tightened around his hand

"Sshh ..."he stopped her with a finger on her lips nodding no " Kuch nahi hoga Shona, sab theek hoga,"Her cheeks felt warm under his soft caress just like his warm gaze on her "main tum dono ko kuch nahi hone dunga .. kuch nahi." he pressed a kiss on her forehead and repeated to himself " Kuch nahi.".He still had that fear of losing shona but he realised the fact there are always things beyond one's control .. all one has is this moment to live and cherish ,nothing can be undone, but now the decision had been made,he would support her, care for her and above all love her ..love them.

"kuch nahi hoga mujhe Sanskar aur hamare bache ko bhi ,jab tak tum mere saath ho..kuch nahi. Her words of confidence on him before she left ... he would do whatever it takes to keep them both safe and loved.

" I love you"he murmured softly and looked back into her eyes..

"Sanskaar .. will you kiss me?" she asked her eyes full of apprehension

.He would have hesitated before ..but now he knew he can hold back his feelings which raged at extremes for her. Coming so close to losing her , being apart from her all these months ..has changed something in him .He still loved her with same intensity , it's just that he had become a bit tamed.He gently brushed off hair strands of her face , leaned forward, till their breaths were close to mingle " You don't have to ask me shona ..his whisper came softly as breeze " you just have to tell me," and kissed her , softly first pouring all his ardent love and ardour and she kissed him back with all pented up passion.Their lips parted only to fuse back and this time, it was a deep and long one.She gasped softly as he pressed light kisses on her face, cheeks, chin her neck.. and gave into the pleasure of being kissed as he captured her lips back for another long one.

Month was passing smoothly.With Sanskaar coming back to Shantinivas ,it just felt like old days were back , everyone under a roof.Swara had to literally push him to go office joined by sharmistha and dadi assuring him ..he left half heartedly but would be back soon. and It was not just swara , but Sanskaar would talk to their baby for hours , tell her stories and Swara would just be content listening to him.

"Aapki ye jo mummy hain na .. bahut ziddi hain." he told once drawing a mock glare from Swara .

"Haan baby .. jaise aapke papa tho bilkul ziddi nahi hain" Swara poked her toungue out at him. Sanskaar smiled at that " "Papa bhi ziddi hain ,lekin mummy se kam, Oh cmon! Shona ab maan bhi jaavo,Haan .. sab se jaya ziddi tho tum ho ..mere jhansi ki rani" he would tease and that left Swara in all smiles.

He accompanied her for all check ups, took her for walks, fed her , would take care of her meds , every simple thing related to her , he took up responsibility.Thankfully Swara's report were normal, blood pressure was under check and and Dr.Sakshi was back into picture. On Sanskaar's requests she got in touch with Swara's gynec and shared her inputs , would constantly monitor Swara's condition and glow was back on Swara's face .Her happiness reflected on her face.

One day morning busy shaving ,Sanskaar smiled recalling Swara's complain last night as they kissed " chub raha hain ".She always loved his stubble look but ab" sorry my dear stubble..madam ka order hai ,follow karna padega." He shrugged his shoulder and went on with his work.

"Sanskaar..Sanskaar .. jaldi aavo ..jaldi .."Hearing Swara's voice Snaksaars wiped off his shaving cream and rushed out of wash room " Kya hua Shona?' he asked worried.

Swara held her breath for a second and looked at him " woh..woh baby ne kick maara .." she told excitedly.Sanskaar's mouth went wide open .. equally excited he jumped onto bed .. " Sách! ..kaise , kab.. Shona mujhe bhi.." Swara quickly took his hand and placed it on her belly " Baby , Papa ko hi bolo" she whispered and Sanskaar felt the kick and his happiness knew no bounds " Phir se Phir se..," Swara smiled at his kid like enthusiasm " lekin main kahunga" he halted her and bent near her belly " Baby, Papa aap se bahut pyar karte hain.you love me too na .." and as they waited with bated breath, baby kicked in as answer . The gut feeling that baby recognised his voice overwhelmed Sanskaar and Swara too.

Few more days passed.. And one night ShantiNivas woke up to the pains of Swara and was rushed to hospital.Sanskaar heart thumped harder and harder as he waited outside the room .Doctor Sakshi walked out quickly to Sanskaar ," Mr. Sanskaar ..It's going to be a premature delivery.. Hame operation karna padega..We will try our best." Sanskaar simply nodded " Kya main ek baar .." he asked and Sakshi understood his plight but "Sorry jyada time nahi hai hamare paas," she said passing on instructions to nurse.

As Swara was led to operation theatre ,she looked around ..all her loved ones and her hand clutched around Sanskaar's hand who was next to her holding her hand .

"Shona ... kuch nahi hoga .. you have to be strong ok ...hamara baby ke liye .. tumhare sanskaar ke liye ..." Swara nodded in midst of pain.She didn't know what future held for them .. this might be the last time she would see him ..Her eyes didn't leave his face as if she wanted capture his image and at this moment she wanted to tell him " I love u Sanskaar ..she murmured and heard his faint whisper r " I love u too shona .." and their hands parted.

"Tension mat lo ..sab theek hoga,"Sujoy patted on Sanskaar shoulder trying to ease his tension and Laksh joined him too .

Dr Sakshi rushed out of operation theatre, " Mr.Sanskaar .. haalat bahut critical hain.. Swara ka blood pressure bahut badh gaya ..aur woh control nahi ho raha hain aur baby ko blood supply kam hain..dekhiye maa aur bache main se hum sirf ek ko bacha sakte hain .. and you have to decided quick ..we dont have time." and Sanskaar froze.

"Mr.Sanksaar,"Doctor Sakshi words jolted him back "please decide..." and none of Gadodia family had an ounce of doubt what would be Sanskaar's decision -For him Shona is above all. Sanskaar squeezed his eyes shut and quick memory flashed.

"Promise me Sanksaar ki tum hamare baby ko kuch nahi hone doge .. main nahi jee pa

vungi baby ke bina.." her voice and face flashed before him and his decision was made." Doctor,aap baby ko bacha yi ye ..boli ye kaha sign karna hain." he stood strong as everyone let a gasp of shock .His hands trembled as he signed the form

It felt like he was signing death warrant for his shona .. but she would have wanted him to do this and he would.

Then he wandered off corridors like lost soul, and settled on bench far from operation theatre .He didn't want to see and hear anything .. nothing at all .He stared blankly into space and when he couldn't bear the pain any more he dropped down the bench lifelessly ..crying.He didn't know for how long .

"Sanskaar,"Laksh rushed to him and dropped down next to him panting. He had been looking for him crazily " Sanskaar ... " he shook him and sanskaar stared at him blankly " Sab kahtam hogaya na,"he mumbled " sab khatam hogaya" he mumbled incoherently again.

"Kuch khatam nahi hua hain ... Laksh shook him to get him out of current state

"Meri baat Suno ...Swara aur baby dono theek hai." Sanskaar stared at him blankly ..nothing seemed to sink into him but did he just hear " dono theek hain , Sanskaar ..tumhari Swara aur bacha dono theek hain and it's a baby girl"Laksh said midst tears and hugged Sanskaar as he broke down with tears of happiness .
