♥️Chapter XVII♥️
This book is going so well!
I didn't really think I would get this much support when I first started it. I doubt my own capabilities sometimes.
Thanks y'all so much for sticking around💖

"Veronica. Why are you impersonating me on the phone right now?"
Raina Riele was in trouble.
Not only that, but her friend Veronica was in trouble as well.
Truth be told, they had both kinda been expecting this.
They didn't think too much of it though because if they had thought positively then positive things would have happened, right?
Wrong.
Veronica had been so carried away in trying to deceive Raina Riele's parents about her sleepover that she had completely forgotten the fact that she was impersonating her mum.
Her legs were up on the dining room table as she was talking to Annaisha and Jeronicus.
Even worse, they could hear her.
"Oh, hey, mum..."
Raina Riele facepalmed herself, RonReaco was kind of expecting this anyway so he didn't say anything... and her parents were beyond ticked off.
So as Raina Riele was about to go upstairs to do something, maybe hide from her misery...
That was when Annaisha had called her name so loudly, loud enough to wake up the dead.
"Raina Riele! Get back here! You're in big trouble!"
She had sighed.
Leaving was worth a shot though, she couldn't have lied about that not even if she wanted to.
Going back to them shamefully, Annaisha and Jeronicus wanted to know if Veronica had really been impersonating her mum this whole time.
And if Raina Riele was behind all of that.
Yes, she was behind all of that.
Which would have been pretty dope actually, especially if she hadn't gotten caught.
The girl knew way better than to lie to her parents, she was eighteen after all so she therefore had to take responsibility for her actions.
"Okay fine. Yeah. I got Veronica to impersonate her mum. She would have done her dad too but that's kind of hard, especially how he has a deep voice and-"
"You're missing the point, Raina Riele," Jeronicus had interrupted halfway, pretty sternly. "Not only did you lie to us, you also convinced your friend to lie to us as well."
At least Raina had actually told the truth about her having a friend called Veronica.
For all she knew, that could have been a lie as well.
For goodness sake, why did Veronica have to impersonate her mother in exactly the same room as her?
Actually, they weren't even in the same room as each other to begin with.
They were quite far away from each other.
Plus Veronica's mother was going to find out sooner or later that Veronica had done this, and Raina Riele would have rather gotten into trouble over this now than later any day.
Long story short she was grounded, and she had gotten forced to lock herself in her room and start her homework.
Which she wanted to do tomorrow because they had a day off school due to construction works, hence why Kasey wanted to have his impromptu sleepover today and not tomorrow instead.
Raina Riele was a heavy procrastinator.
She had passed RonReaco on the way up the stairs, who had muttered that this was never going to work out and he had figured it out.
Raina just told him to shut up, and that was it.
RonReaco didn't say anything for a while, becoming angrier by the second.
The more steps he took, the more vexed he got.
"You know what? Asides from being ungrateful,
that's your flipping problem. You can't handle correction."
"Look who's talking, you're just as bad as me," Raina argued back, harsh but true. "Don't be such a hypocrite. 'Cause that ain't lit."
Raina really wanted to fight him but she knew better than that, plus he was one year older than her so what was the point.
She was also supposed to be in university like RonReaco at the moment but wasn't because she had failed her courses.
So she wanted to repeat them.
Storming up the stairs with her suitcase, Raina Riele had then slammed her door with her back leaning behind it.
As she had tried to figure out how to get to Kasey's house for this sleepover.
And she was going.
Whilst she was thinking of some possible reasons, that was when Sitara had texted her out of the blue.
You still coming to Kasey's house for his impromptu sleepover?
Grounded, Raina Riele had told her back almost straight away.
Oh damn. Sorry about that, Sitara had texted her back after two minutes or so. So does that mean you're not coming then?
Pfft. You think me being grounded is going to stop me? I really want Leilani back. So of course I'm still going.
Her parents had said to her that she couldn't have gone to Veronica's house for a sleepover.
They didn't say anything about Kasey's.
So therefore Raina Riele was going to sneak out of the house very clandestinely through her window, which was exactly what she had done.
**********
"You okay, Kasey?"
Kasey was sitting down on the sofa in his sitting room, which had looked like this overall:
His impromptu sleepover for his psychology project was going to start any minute now, but he had looked kind of anxious about something.
His father Antonio was the one who had asked him if he was okay, as his mother Marissa was on the phone talking to someone instead.
"Yeah, I'm fine, dad. Why'd you ask?"
His parents were normally concerned about him when he didn't look okay, which was what Kasey had genuinely loved the most about them.
Most parents didn't care if their child was upset or distressed over something but Kasey's did.
"You look distressed," Antonio realised. "Is it about the sleepover?"
"Kinda. But then again, it's not supposed to be planned. So I guess I'm not as worried as I'm supposed to be, if that makes sense."
Antonio wanted to know how Kasey's psychology teacher would have known that this sleepover was planned.
Easy.
They had kept tabs on them, with their consent of course.
They had only watched them if they had done something associated with this impromptu sleepover.
They had to tell the teachers about this beforehand otherwise they would have gotten into trouble.
"But how do they know you want to do something related to the sleepover?"
"That's why we have to tell them."
Either way, Antonio was really proud of Kasey for stepping out of his comfort zone.
Not only had he ever really been to a sleepover before, he had barely hosted one too.
He had really seemed to like Unsuspected Love.
"Are you kidding? I love that friendship group. I'm the head of the group along with Leilani because we unanimously came up with the group name. We all understand each other so so well. We're even equal too. Three girls and three boys."
Three girls and three boys?
Yeah right.
Kasey should have made that four girls and three boys more like.
Little did he know that Raina Riele was going to completely gatecrash this sleepover.
Whether they had all liked it or not.
