Veronica didn't pick up.

This was absolutely ridiculous, Raina Riele seriously needed this girl.

She was trying to go to Kasey's house, although she couldn't tell her parents that because both of them had known that Kasey was in Unsuspected Love.

Come on Veronica... I need you to impersonate your parents for me.

How could she have called her, with Raina Riele missing it?

Then when Raina wanted to call her back?

She didn't pick up.

She's probably busy or something.

She kinda was actually, calling her back two minutes after Raina Riele had called her.

Raina Riele had freaked out when her phone had gone off, even if she was expecting a call back.

Happily, she had then answered it.

Veronica hadn't saved her number, but hopefully she had known who she was, and she did.

Veronica: Veronica Chioma speaking. Afro-Latina girl, precious as a pearl. Who this?

She had always answered the phone like that, unless it was with an adult.

Or an unknown number.

Not that she had picked up for them, but this number had seemed sort of familiar.

Raina Riele: Raina Riele.

Veronica was confused for a while, with Raina Riele worrying internally that she hadn't remembered her, after all, she didn't really seem to say anything.

Veronica: Gurllllll! It's been time!

Thank Heavens they ended their friendship on good terms.

It wasn't even planned, they weren't planning to end their friendship.

They had just drifted apart from each other, but they didn't do anything, they had just started hanging out less and less.

Then they stopped talking completely.

This was like an ex best friend reunion.

Raina Riele smiled, thanking God over everything.

Raina Riele: I thought you'd forget about me.

Veronica: Heck to the no. What do you want, girl? And I'm so sorry- I ain't got anybody's number saved on here. Just got this phone yesterday.

Made sense...

At least her number didn't change though, that would have really sucked.

Raina Riele: I need you to impersonate your parents.

Veronica didn't reply.

Raina Riele didn't even know if she was still on the other end of the line or not.

If she wasn't, she didn't exactly hang up, so maybe there was still hope or something?

Raina Riele: Veronica?

Veronica: *slightly annoyed, yet confused* Why do you want me to impersonate my parents?

Raina Riele: Uhm....

How did she put this nicely?

Even more importantly?

How did she make what she was about to say next sound sensical?

Whilst not ticking Veronica off in the process?

Veronica: I'm waiting for an answer...

Raina Riele: Okay, please don't get mad but I kinda said to my parents that I'm spending the night at yours tonight for a sleepover. When really I'm going to someone else's house that I'm not supposed to be at. But I'm just tryna get my best friend back and-

Veronica: *checking her nails and yawning- not that Raina can see her because she can't* Get to the point, sis. No offence.

Right, Raina Riele had completely forgotten the fact that Veronica wasn't the most patient person out there.

Raina Riele: My parents are going to call your parents anytime soon to check if I'm lying about going to your house for a sleepover or not.

Veronica: But you are lying.

Raina Riele: I know but please, Veronica? They're crazy suspicious.

Veronica: I'd get into so much trouble and you would too, for lying.

True, yeah...

But, Raina Riele was desperate.

She would have done anything.

Within reasonable boundaries of course...

Raina Riele: Please?

Veronica didn't reply.

She had just sighed and she had facepalmed herself.

Then she had said okay- under one condition.

"Yeah, sure. What?"

"Never ignore me for a long time and then call me just to ask me for a favour. Not only is it rude but it's also disrespectful, plus it kinda shows that you're a fake friend, you get?"

Raina Riele was the one to remind her that she was the one that had drifted away from her first, and Raina Riele was just flowing with it.

"Oh damn. I drifted away from you first?"

She said yes.

"Didn't even realise. But then again we ain't talked in like six years to be fair. So I wouldn't really have remembered. Sorry."

They had forgiven each other, although Veronica's condition had still applied to this situation.

She couldn't do the same thing to Raina either, as in she couldn't have ignored her for a long time, then just show up out of the blue to ask for a favour.

Veronica had agreed to that, and just in time too because Annaisha and Jeronicus had called Raina Riele's name.

That was when Raina had then dashed downstairs after saying goodbye to Veronica and vice versa, and they were just about to call Veronica's parents to ask about the sleepover.

"I'm here mum. I'm here dad."

RonReaco was just staring at his sister, not saying anything to her.

Annaisha and Jeronicus had then dialled the phone number of Veronica's landline, where the line had gone silent for a while.

Then they had picked up.

Veronica had picked up actually, and when her mother had asked her who it was for, she had lied and she had said that it was for her.

Annaisha: Hello, Mrs Chioma?

Veronica was very good at impersonating people, mainly her parents, because she had taken drama at school, so she always kinda had to be someone that she wasn't regardless.

Veronica: Yes, Mr and Mrs Downs?

"Oh wow, it really is them," Jeronicus had whispered, with Raina Riele smiling.

As they were asking about the sleepover, that was when RonReaco had tapped his sister's shoulders muttering can I talk to you? in her ear.

Ah yes, is it true that Veronica is having a sleepover tonight and she invited Riele?

"You just talked to me though."

"I need to do so again."

She had rolled her eyes, although apparently it was going to be quick, and it was.

RonReaco just wanted her to behave herself at Kasey's house and not do anything stupid.

She couldn't believe that he was actually letting her get away with this- and hopefully he wouldn't have turned against her either.

"Of course not, you my lil sis. I love you."

They had hugged each other after Raina had confessed that she had loved him as well.

So there is a sleepover after all?

Okay thank you. I thought Raina Riele was just making things up.

Yes. I'll text you and Raina the address.

She had done that, and the conversation was going really well.

Raina Riele couldn't believe that this was actually going to work.

She spoke too soon though.

As in the far distance, her mother had eventually asked her why she was impersonating her on the phone right now.
