♥️Chapter I♥️

As a young girl, Raina Riele was always told to appreciate what she had.

Despite this though, the girl had never really listened to this rule.

Whether it had been on Christmas...

How comes RonReaco gets a better present than me?! Raina Riele would have always ranted to her parents.

Their names were Annaisha and Jeronicus, who had been married to each other for twenty three years now. Annaisha was 47 whilst Jeronicus on the other hand was 50 instead.

As of today.

Raina was really eighteen years old at the moment, whilst RonReaco was nineteen instead. But this was all when she was fourteen and RonReace was fifteen in the interim.

"RonReaco got a better present than you because he was more well behaved than you," Annaisha had told fourteen year old Raina, who had frowned at her.

RonReaco was her older brother by one year, who had gotten a PlayStation game for Christmas, which was way better than what Raina Riele had gotten.

A flipping skipping rope.

He had smiled at her, with Raina Riele shooting daggers at him, yelling at her parents that they had always favoured RonReaco over her.

They didn't really have the money to give her a better present though, to be honest.

They did for RonReaco but they didn't for Raina Riele, which was just the unfortunate reality of things.

Raina Riele had screamed that she hadn't liked the family, which would have normally led to Annaisha or Jeronicus telling her privately that they had all loved her as well as her brother equally.

Right after that the girl would had stormed into her room in annoyance.

One would have thought that she would have behaved even better once she had gotten older, most especially when she had hit eighteen years old.

As that was kinda the official age that one was an adult, but nope.

Raina Riele had still reacted the same way.

She had always found it difficult to appreciate what she had had, which wasn't just with presents. It was with people as well.

For instance, her best friend Leilani (Jace Norman). They had been best friends since they were fifteen, but nowadays it had seemed as though Raina Riele was growing out interest of him.

They had just finished studying at the library, as their house wasn't quiet enough. Raina Riele had just arrived home from there, with Leilani texting her just in time.

From Leilani💕
Did you get home safely?

They had had an upcoming test soon, which would have determined if they could have stayed in their sets or not.

There were sets for three subjects overall- English, Maths and Science.

This test was for Maths.

When Raina Riele had seen that message though, she hadn't acknowledged it like a normal grateful person would have done.

Instead, as she had entered her house, closed the door, then leaned on the door to check her messages, she had rolled her eyes at Leilani's one.

Then she had muttered whatever.

This girl really had the grass is greener on the other side syndrome and it wasn't good.

Unfortunately for Raina Riele, she had made the common misconception that her best friend would have always been there for her.

She had started to ignore Leilani more and more everyday, without warning, as she had tried to get herself into the popular group of friends instead.

Aka the popular cheerleaders.

These girls had seemed so cool, and they were.

Far far better than Leilani.

Seemingly though.

Seemingly.

They had always gotten dates.

They were very well known, everybody had liked them and they had gotten away with almost anything.

Days of ignoring Leilani had soon turned into weeks, with Raina Riele never learning to appreciate what she had in life.

She always wanted more, not knowing that more wasn't always better.

Poor Leilani didn't even know or figure out why Raina was ghosting her all of a sudden.

And as she had been ghosting him on the phone, Leilani had then wisely thought that it would have been better to approach her in person instead.

It had now been two weeks since Raina Riele had really talked to Leilani last.

Today was a Wednesday, with Leilani not being in school yesterday and Tuesday due to him being sick and everything.

They didn't have any lessons together on Wednesdays, aside from Chemistry really (last lesson of the day) with Leilani therefore not having the chance to see his so called best friend at the end of everything.

That was until lunch was about to end and Raina Riele was about to go to her class.

Leilani wanted to talk to her at the end of lunch and not at the beginning instead as there would have been less people around her.

Or so he thought anyway, not realising that he was going to be very clearly mistaken.

"Raina Riele!"

She had known that voice, groaning to herself as she had just gone up the stairs.

Leilani.

What did this guy want now?

Truth be told, Raina Riele was just blowing this whole thing out of proportion. Leilani didn't even do anything wrong.

If that was what he had gotten for actually caring about her, then what was the point of everything?

"What do you want?!" Raina had screamed at him, turning to face him.

Leilani just stared at her, not knowing why she was so tensed up.

"What's going on with you?" He wanted to know, Raina Riele just shooting a death glare at him in the process. "Like, you ain't been replying to any of my texts or calls. Did I do something wrong? If you don't want to talk to me then just say so, and I'll leave you alone."

She had groaned to herself before facepalming herself, even though she had no meaning to do so.

Ungrateful little witch.

"I mean you didn't exactly block me either so that's kinda why I thought that there was still hope," Leilani had continued from below the stairs.

She didn't care about him enough to block him, that was why she hadn't done something like that.

"Look," she sighed. "I thought I made it explicitly clear that I don't want to talk to you by ignoring you but clearly not... how do I put this clearly?"

Leilani wanted to know why she didn't want to speak to him, because as far as he was concerned, he didn't even do anything wrong.

Then she had said it.

She didn't like him.

End of story.

Poor Leilani in the meantime?

The dude didn't even know how to react or what to say to that at all.
