Chapter Quote:
“Alright listen up! The guys we're after are professional runners. They like speed and are guaranteed to go down the hardest possible way so make sure you've got your thunderwear on. We find 'em, we take 'em as a team, and we bring 'em back. And above all else, we don't ever, ever let them get into cars.”

Chapter 15: Bat Mobiles Fly
Bryn
Rachel sat in the passenger side as Bryn slid into the driver’s seat. In the Ferrari next to the Lamborghini, Derek took to the wheel while Silena chose the passenger seat. Bryn smiled as she saw Derek reveling at the car he was in, running his hands over the leather steering wheel with his mouth agape.
“Someone is happy about this,” Rachel laughed.
“It’s his dream car,” Bryn replied, starting up the car. The engine revved to life, making it known it was itching to go and go fast. It almost seemed as if the car understood her need to get to her destination in as little time as possible and it was ready for the challenge. Pollux raised the garage door and the two supercars backed out. The black cars shone in the intense Nevada sunlight, and Bryn could only imagine how sharp and intimidating it looked.
Pollux came out and motioned for Bryn and Derek to roll down their windows. When they did so, he simply said, “Raise some hell for me.”
Bryn smiled, promised they would do so, and pulled out of the driveway. Derek stayed behind her. She barely pressed her foot onto the pedal and the Lamborghini shot off. Laughing for the enthrallment of driving such a fast car, she went even faster. The speed limit was fifty, but with where she wanted to go, she was doing at least seventy over with the speed ever increasing. Derek stayed close by her. When they reached a red light, the two cars pulled up next to each other. While waiting for it to turn green, Rachel’s phone rang. Since she wasn’t a demigod, normal rules didn’t apply to her and she could have a cell phone. Monsters wouldn’t find her.
“Hello?” Rachel said. Her face scrunched up into confusion as she pulled the phone away from her ear and put the phone on speaker.
“Is it on speaker now?” a familiar voice queried casually.
“Yes,” Rachel grumbled.
“Good. Now, Miss Winchester, this is Ryan London speaking. It seems I underestimated you, and since you obviously have no problem hurting me and my troops and have proved you’re very good at slipping through my fingers, let’s see how you do against my new method of capturing you.” Bryn snarled when she heard the sound of police sirens coming from behind her and saw the lights from police cars coming towards her. “Have fun.”
Ryan hung up, leaving Rachel looking scared and leaving Bryn furious. She rolled down the window and shouted to Derek (who had done the same), “Ryan has the cops after us. Follow me and don’t get killed!”
Derek nodded. When the light turned green, Bryn tore off to the left, avoiding the cop cars coming at her. The Lamborghini went from zero to sixty in less than four seconds. Derek quickly caught up. Sirens howled behind them but the cop cars were slowly losing distance on them. The only problem Bryn was experiencing on this road was the traffic. Laughlin was a relatively small town. Why, on all days, did it seem like all seven thousand people here decided to crowd the street? Bryn could drive on the sidewalk but there were pedestrians about and she didn’t want them as a hood ornament…
She weaved in and out of them. One Audi tried to race her but she left them in the dust, so did Derek. He was only a little ways behind her. They approached another intersection, and it was a yellow light. Bryn could make it without the light turning on her. Derek on the other hand… he was just far enough behind her that he risked it turning red on him. With how fast she was going though, Bryn had no other option but to continue driving. Even with the superb braking system of the Lamborghini, there was no way she could stop in time. And even if she did stop, the cops would catch up to her. She floored it, even though the pedal couldn’t go down any farther already. The light turned red just as she went under it. She looked in her rearview mirror to see Derek’s Ferrari racing after them, with no intentions of stopping. At that moment, an eighteen-wheeler pulled out in front of him. Bryn heard herself scream Derek’s name as his car vanished from view. She slammed on the brakes, her heart beating its way out of her chest. As she turned around again to make sure Derek wasn’t in a mangled car wreck, a black Ferrari, driving backwards, made its way next to her. The son of Apollo was leaning forward, smiling and waving at his best friend. Silena was gripping the door, appearing petrified and delighted at the same time. Bryn let out a sigh of relief as Derek spun his car around. Now able to concentrate because the image of her two best friends dead was out of her mind, Bryn continued driving. Derek kept up with her.
By now they had about twenty cop cars trying to catch up with them. Derek’s little maneuver back there had saved his life but it had also caused them a lot of time, allowing the cops to catch up to them.
Ryan was not allowed to get his way. Ryan was not going to capture them. Ryan was not going to prevent Bryn from getting to Luke. Luke needed to be rescued, and she would be damned if it wasn’t her. This was her quest. No one, especially an annoying minion of Hannah, was going to stop her.
“Bryn!” Rachel exclaimed, pointing at the road ahead. They were approaching train tracks, and the arms were going down, alerting drivers a train was coming. It was obvious that no matter how fast she was going, Bryn and Derek wouldn’t make it, plus there was truck with a ramp on it blocking their way.
“I got this. Give me you cell phone!” Bryn ordered. Rachel tossed it to her, and Bryn quickly called Silena. She hastily told her friend the plan and hung up, tossing the phone into her passenger’s lap. Calming her racing heart, Bryn made the wind lift the front end of her car and Derek’s. She lined herself up with the truck’s ramp and prayed this would work. If they lived to tell the story, Bryn was going to totally rub this in Ryan’s face.
“Oh my gods! Oh my gods! We’re going to freaking die!” Rachel groaned, shutting her eyes. Ignoring her, the daughter of Zeus focused on driving. They would hopefully be in the air in three… two… one…
Bryn actually shut her eyes, not wanting to see the outcome of this. When she didn’t feel any major crash, she opened one eye to make sure she hadn’t just crashed and died on impact. To her disbelief, the Lamborghini was in the air, living up to her nickname of it, the “Bat Mobile.” Glancing behind her, she saw that it worked for Derek too. He was grinning like a maniac. Silena was peering through her fingers. Using more of her powers, Bryn made sure their landing was soft. The Lamborghini hit the road with a slight bump and continued roaring its way east. The cop cars on the other hand were stuck behind the train. Smirking, Bryn asked for Rachel’s phone again. She redialed Ryan’s number. He picked up after the second ring.
“Hello?” He griped.
“Yes, this is Bryn Winchester. I just wanted to say I do believe I avoided your new technique of apprehending me. Have a nice day.” She hung up and smiled satisfactorily.
“You have a death wish,” Rachel chuckled.
“No regrets. None whatsoever.”
And with that, the two Bat Mobiles drove east, with no intention of having any more delays until they reached Colorado Springs.
