Fifteen
Two days had passed since the revelation, the Winchesters and I haven't seen Castiel since. Lucifer hadn't made contact yet, so we did what hunters do, we researched our opponent.
I made a few calls to Garth and various other hunter contacts and well as some supernaturals that could be my eyes and ears.
The three of us pretty much exhausted the library's resources based off angels, and we hit a wall.
"Morning" I yawned, after a long night of searching through books we've already read to try to find something we might have missed.
Dean grunted in return, his morning coffee clutched in his hands, his head hung low over the steaming drink. Sam glanced up from his computer, nodding at me, before going back to work.
"Hey, I actually wanted to talk to you" Sam paused in his rapid typing to address me.
"Yeah sure" I shrugged, walking to the cabinet.
"Well since the angels have pretty much been quiet, I was wondering if you wanted to go back to school" Sam moved his laptop to the side as he waited for my response.
"Uh, what if they put someone at my school?" I asked, hopping onto the counter.
"I might be able to help with that" the Winchesters both jumped at the new voice, she was dressed in dark clothes, her hair a wild mess. She looked about my age, but there was a darkness behind her eyes that didn't sit well with me.
"Who are you?" Both boys were immediately on alert, but there wasn't much they could do, they were weaponless.
"No one special, at least not enough to garner the Winchester's special attention" she smirked, flashing her pitch black eyes.
"You're a demon" Sam noted.
"No, really?" she shot back sarcastically, letting the black fade away until light brown eyes were in their place.
"Why are you here?" Dean demanded, the boys slowly made their way between me and the demon, creating a human shield.
"To protect her majesty of coarse" she nodded in my direction, and the Winchesters turned to me before going right back to the demon.
"Why?" Sam and Dean asked at the same time.
"Well, Satan thought she'd probably get stir crazy hiding from heaven, so he sent me to guard her, he doesn't exactly trust the two of you to keep her safe" the demon crossed her arms.
"We can protect our own" Dean glared at the newcomer.
"Like you protected Sammy here" she raised a brow, Sam immediately intervened, holding his brother back from lunging at the demon.
"That was a low blow" I stepped beside the Winchesters. "Besides, I can take care of myself, I'm a hunter"
"Like or not, doesn't matter" the demon scoffed. "But orders are orders, and I'd rather not refuse a command from Lucifer"
"Whatever" I rolled my eyes "if you're gonna follow me around, I'd like to know your name"
"Riley"
Nodding, I turned to the boys and Dean pointed his finger at me "No"
"Why not?" I huffed "it was Sam's idea to send me to school again"
"You would trust a demon?" Dean shot back.
"No" ignoring the sound of offense from Riley, I kept eye contact with Dean "like I said before, I can take care of myself"
"Dean-" Sam stepped in "we should let her go, this time we have eyes on her"
The oldest Winchester was silent, looking between his brother and I for a moment before sighing. "Fine, only if you check in after every period"
"Fair" I agreed, patting my pants pockets when I realized my phone wasn't there. The last place I remember it bei-
Oh crap.
The party
"We should get going to school" I started to head to the exit of the kitchen, trying my best to keep the panic I was feeling hidden.
"Wait" Dean called "your bike privileges are still revoked, I'll take you" he started walking behind me "and you" he gestured to Riley "aren't coming in my car"
"Dean, don't you think we have bigger things to worry about than whether or not I punched a kid?" I stuck my hands in my jean pockets, wanting to keep the nervous energy out of sight.
"Uh uh, we agreed two weeks, it's barely been one" he refused, Sam gave his brother a look, which was promptly ignored. "Let's go" with that, Dean headed to the garage to start the Impala.
"I'll see you at school kid" Riley waved, disappearing.
"Will you please talk to him" I asked Sam, he nodded, pulling me into a hug.
"Be safe alright?"
I nodded, before stepping back, and walking to the garage where Dean sat waiting, the door already open.
