Adolescence by Queen Unknown- November 8, 2023
From seeds we were planted,
Watered and cared,
They hoped and wished,
That we would dare to be,
Dare to turn into a splendid tree,
They watered, ploughed, fertilized,
The watched us, like Hawks finding their preys,
For our little shoot,
Just to surface,
Smell the air and feel the blazing sun,
And we did just that,
They watered, ploughed, fertilized,
They washed, dressed and combed,
Hoping one day we would be able to do the same for ourselves,
Wishing that we were normal,
They pampered, feed and taught,
Feeling already accomplished,
For they had formed our achievements in their thoughts,
We grew, we learned, we need no more pamper,
We ask questions,
Want shinny things,
Playdates, companions,
But we haven't forget them that have done great things,
How could we?
With their haunting,
Watching our every move,
Criticizing and scrutinizing,
We don't depend on them like before,
We don't see much,
Of their value anymore,
What are they saying?
You are just dramatic and old,
Is it such a big deal?
You have big dreams,
I'm sixteen, I'm not a baby anymore,
Our ideologies are heard loud and clear,
It shows us that adolescence has taken us a very far way,
From seeds, who needed tender care,
To shoots, that desired attention in certain atmosphere,
To little plants that needed,
Not so much care,
Now, medium with suckers approaching, that we might need to care,
We don't need dictation anymore,
We need someone,
That cares and hears
Adolescence!
We have come a very long way.
