Prologue: Terry Parr

A young male around the age of eight was currently in front of a training dummy hitting it with a wooden sword repeatedly. This male had deep brown onyx eyes, however the color of his hair was a bit of a mystery. While it was white most of the time this male's hair had a rather unique trait. His hair would change colors depending on how he was feeling. A rather odd trait and while his parents have no idea how or why this trait came to be after living with him for eight years they had merely come to accept this as a fact. This male's name was Terry.

At the moment he seemed to be training of some kind as the male repeated hit the dummy with his mother watching him with a smile. "Don't forget your footing darling," The female said as she looked at the male in front of her. With she said this the male's hair turned from it's pure white to a bright vivid yellow making him appear blonde. While he hadn't said or done anything, his hair showed that he was slightly annoyed with his mother bothering him.

"I'm sorry son, is there something you'd like to say to me?" The female asked as she looked at Terry causing his hair to pink showing that he was now a bit scared.

"N-no mama," Terry said as he continued training. This male despite living a rather happy life knew something that most others didn't. Not even most huntsman were aware of what this child knew. Terry's mother was a maiden, and as such not only did Terry know that the fairy tale about the maidens were more than just a simple bedtime story but he was also aware of something else far more sinister. He had learned at a rather young age of the evil 'witch' known as Salem.

This of course unknowingly painted a rather large target on him. While not many knew of Salem it wasn't exactly a good thing to know about her either. She tended to try and keep her presence hidden and those that did know of her were eliminated as quickly as possible, and with Terry's mother being one of the maidens this just made her and more importantly her family a rather large and easy target for Salem.

To combat this she had asked Ozpin to help hide her and her family, and so far this appeared to work. She was able to give birth to Terry and his sister and there had never been any sign of the creatures of grimm let alone Salem or one of her minions. After several minutes of training Terry's mother sighed. "Alright that's enough," She said as she looked at the male in front of him. When she said this Terry smiled and placed the wooden sword to the side before running over to his mother.

"Did I do good mama?" Terry asked as he looked at the female in front of her causing her to smile and nod before reaching down to pat his head.

"Yes, my little warrior, you excellently," The female said as she looked at the child in front of him causing him to smile. "No go wash up, it'll be time for dinner any moment," The female said as she looked at the male in front of her. Terry nodded hearing this and began to run into the small house that they had and towards the bathroom so that he could wash himself before dinner. After he finished he walked into the kitchen and happily ate with his family.

He may not have had many friends because of where and how he lived but at the moment this was more than enough for him at the moment. When he finished his meal he walked up to his room and began to get ready to sleep. However as he was sleeping he was suddenly awoken to the sound of screams and got out of his bed. He recognized that scream it was his mother. "Mom!" The child called out as he ran out of his room and down the halls.

When he finally saw his mom he saw her with several flames around her. Their house was burning down, and she was fighting someone that he didn't recognize. "Mom!" Terry called out clearly concerned for his mother. As he did his mother turned to look at him and saw that he was rather close to the burning flames.

"Terry, listen to me. You need to get your sister and-" The female began only for a blade to slice her neck ending both her sentence and life short. Terry wasn't sure who was attacking him but he did the only thing he knew to do and that was to listen to his mother. He began running away towards his sisters room. As he did the figure from before ran past him and kicked him in the side sending him into the wall.

His attacker didn't pay to much mind to him for one reason, he wasn't a girl. From his experience the powers of being a maiden could only be passed down to a girl, so he paid him no mind. His sister on the other hand, if she had inherited her mothers powers unknowingly then she could cause problems in the future. So it was just easier and more convenient to dispose of that problem before it had the chance to arise.

"No!" Terry said as he looked at the male as he ran into the room. His hair began switching colors quickly showing that he had mixed emotions about what had just happened before he heard a thick slice like the one he had heard just moments ago from his mother. Terry's eyes widened and he quickly picked himself up off the ground running towards the source of the sound only to see his sister lifeless body on the ground, and the man that had attacked his family had mysteriously disappeared.

This was most likely due to the fact that he didn't see Terry as a threat. After all as far as he knew he didn't have the powers of a maiden, and as such no reason to worry. Now he had no one left to help defend him, and even if he did make it on his own for a while there was no way he'd be able to survive the packs and hordes of grimm the littered the world of remnant. Terry's hair turned yellow, then orange, then red, and then blue. Flashing through all the colors of the spectrum in a matter of seconds showing just how confused he was at the moment before he eventually turned and ran out of the building.

He wasn't sure what else to do, what else could he do? The only thing that came to mind was for him to run. Terry lost track of time fairly quickly while he stayed in the woods. It didn't take him long to forget how long he had been in the woods. Days, weeks, possibly even months went by before he stopping running from the house. However this wasn't without his share of close calls. After all there wasn't much to eat in the woods forcing Terry to usually stay by the same tree that just so happened to have apples on it before he was forced to leave to find another one.

Then there were the times he was attacked by grimm. Usually they were Beowolf so all he had to do to avoid them was spend the night in tree that was to high for them to reach. They would run into it to try and either tip it over or knock him out of it and while they almost succeeded on more than one occasion they were never lucky enough to force the child out of the tree. However, whenever he encountered Ursa he had to use a different tactic since more often then not they were able to knock him out of the trees.

So to avoid them Terry would usually find trees that were close together and would be forced to jump between the two so that the Ursa couldn't reach him. However on a few rare occasions he did find a tree that had part of it's roots showing leaving a small space between the roots and the tree that he could hide in. However Terry was never truly lucky enough to find these, or at least not when he really needed them. After months in the woods Terry eventually made his way back to the small house that he once called home.

Terry looked around the abandoned and burned building. He found it a little hard to breathe inside the building since occasionally a small breeze would cause some of the ashes to flake off and fill the air. Terry felt sick when he saw a burnt corpse and before long his hair turned blue showing that he was a bit sad about what he was seeing. Terry then walked out of the house towards the small training area that they had.

Terry looked at the training dummies a bit longingly and eventually walked over to it before searching fore the training sword that he usually used. After several minutes of searching he did eventually find it and walked over to training dummy before taking the same stance that he always did and hitting the dummy repeated. He wasn't sure why he was hitting the dummy since he had never liked training, but for some odd reason it did make him feel a bit better.

It was most likely because he would always do this with his mother, and a part of him was secretly hoping he would hear her voice again as he training. Even if it was just for something as simple as correcting him while he was training. However, after roughly an hour of training and not hearing anything the male became a bit disappointed and sighed before he eventually stopped and began to walk into the house. He wanted nothing more than to cry about what had happened. So that's what he did, he went to the burned remains of what was once his room and began to cry.

He wasn't sure for how long he sat there crying about it, but that was only because of something his mother had told him whenever he was young. That was, that it was okay to cry however it never truly solved anything. So cry if you needed to but make sure you get it all out the first time, because you should never cry for the same reason a second time. While she may not have had this situation in mind when she had said that those words were now burning into Terry's mind. So he intended to try and uphold that value to the best of his ability.

After spending years by himself and learning how to take care of himself in the many forests of Remnant he had trained himself to not only use his a weapon but to use aura and a semblance as well. As he traveled he ended up doing a few odd jobs for the few towns that he passed by typically just being a few standard guarding missions to help some of the smaller towns to defend against the White Fang.

However this came to an end when he eventually reached a town that seemed to be preparing to leave. Terry then walked up to one of the several induvial that were packing and tapped on his shoulder. "Sorry to bother you, but what's going on? Why is everyone leaving?" Terry asked as he looked at the male in front of him.

"You haven't heard?" The male asked as he looked at the male in front of him causing Terry to shake his head. "There's a grimm wave coming this way. They say there's around one hundred grimm or more coming directly for the city. They should be here fairly soon, everyone is leaving so that they can wait out the wave for when it passes," The male said as he looked at Terry. "Although, there are a few certain suborn individuals that are choosing to stay behind," The male said as he looked at Terry before continuing to pack his things.

"Damn idiots are going to get themselves killed," The male mumbled to himself as he walked away from Terry.

"Um excuse me," Terry said as he once again tapped on the male's shoulder hoping to get another answer from him. When he did the male turned to look at him and Terry began. "Sorry but, do you know which direction the invasion is coming from?" Terry asked as he looked at the male in front of him. When he said this the male looked at him a bit confused so Terry quickly came up with a lie that he thought was believable.

"I'm a traveler you see, I just want to know so I know which direction not to head. After all, it'd be rather inconvenient if I left and then ran into the horde of grimm don't you think?" Terry asked as he looked at the male in front of him causing the male to nod.

"They're coming from the north," The male said as he looked at Terry causing the male to nod and turn and walk away. However as soon as the male was out of sight Terry began to walk towards the north. He couldn't just stand by and let innocent people get killed by grimm, and even if the others did come and immediately leave. There was nothing stopping them from simply moving onto the next town, or possibly just coming back to this one once the population had returned to their homes.

Terry left the town and began heading north where he was told the grimm would be. He was hoping to get there as soon as possible so that he could kill as many as he could as quickly as he could. After around an hour of walking he began to hear rumbling in the distance and Terry took a deep breath trying to control his breathing as he did. He was trying not to panic since he had never taken on this many grimm before.

The most he had ever attempted to fight at once was twenty but that was only because he had been paid to get rid of a nest of grimm, so while he could have fought them one at a time, he didn't see any point since that would give them the chance to reproduce, and for new grimm to just take the place of the ones he had killed before. After waiting for several minutes he eventually saw the figures he had been waiting for.

As he did Terry seeing just how many there were began to think of a way that he could bring the grimm to a stop. After all there was still the chance that some would just run past him. So he needed to think of a way to stop them, or at least gain their attention. Then Terry smiled as a thought came to mind. He reached behind him grabbing his weapon which unfolded into a Glaive and looked at the creatures in front of him.

Terry waited for the creatures to get close and when they did he charged forward. As he did he began using his semblance causing a then layer of wind to begin gathering and condensing around his blade.  Then without warning Terry dived forward holding his Glaive out from him before he began spinning at an incredible speed turning him into a sideways cyclone of blade slashes.

This managed to cut through a rather large number of grimm and before long he was surrounded by them. However he knew better than to waste any time and pressed a button on his glaive splitting it and turning the weapon into two blades. After seeing one of the grimm dash towards him Terry turned to face it and brought his two swords down, and then up again creating four slashes of wind the resembled claw marks.

The slashed were sent forward and began cutting through not only the grimm that had attacked him but several others that were behind it as well. However this did little to discourage the grimm that were around him as they continued to run towards him. After all they had numbers on their side, and if he kept attacking like he currently was then he'd eventually succumb to them. Seeing the several figures dash towards him Terry sighed and brought his blade up into the air.

He then brought it down onto the ground as several grimm pounced towards him, a moment later a dome of wind surrounded him that was moving and rotating a rather intense speed. It got so show just how intense a moment later as the grimm touched the rotating dome around him they were torn to pieces from the intense whirlwind of air that surrounded the male. Once all that had attacked had turned to dust Terry pulled his blades from the ground and jumped into the air.

As he did he once again hit a button turning the twin blades back into their glaive form and held it up high and like before began gathering some wind around it and when he began to fall he brought his blade down in a slashing mothing, causing several slashes of air to appear around him hitting the grimm from multiple directions. Terry continued fighting like this fighting until there were no longer any grimm to defeat.

After that he remember everyone returning to town a few weeks later and even a reporter that was covering the event. However Terry chose not to tell her or anyone else for that matter that he was the one that did it. Not only because he doubted anyone would have believed him, but it would have also sounded like a desperate cry for attention if he did. So he simply let the media believe that it was a random 'mysterious stranger' that just so happened to get rid of the grimm.

Once Terry had spent enough time in the town he left and met up with someone that he had come to call his friend over the years. However, there was one particular conversation that caught his attention. "So, I've been thinking about attending Beacon recently," The Faunus said as he looked at Terry.

"Really? Why's that?" Terry asked as he looked at the male and his friend shrugged.

"It's a place to live, if I graduate there will always be work. After all someone always needs protection, and then rivals will always want each other dead. I might even get to meet some other people there that could be fun to hang out with. Why wouldn't I go?" The male asked as he looked at Terry. After hearing this Terry nodded and considered the idea. He had never considered the idea before but his friend did make a good point, well several actually.

"Maybe, I'll enroll as well," Terry said as he looked at the male causing his friend to chuckle slightly.

"I'll meet you there then," The male said as he stood up and looked at Terry with a smile.
