She longs to be free

She's on the inside looking out of the prison that she's in

Wondering if she'll ever get a chance to be free again

To glide through the wind with the butterflies is her only heart's desire

And to sing melodious tunes, and form a biosphere choir

But reality won't let her be the person she really is

She hides behind this comedic mask as if gloominess doesn't exist

She ponders this melancholic image of herself as she glares into a puddle of water

And wonders what she did to deserve to be treated like an unwanted stepdaughter

Her aesthetic needs are never met, the prison guards are negligent

She's tired of them treating her like an ignorant convict

Fallen from the family tree, she lies waiting under their roots

Unable to express herself, becoming an acquired mute

They dominate her entire being, capturing her soul

And she reaches out to be snatched from her prison sanctuary

The family tree has broken branches, the leaves are dried to brown

And she's wondering how she'll ever pick herself up off the ground

She cries and cries amongst her peers, but they don't understand

Every day when she returns to her cell she buries her face in the sand

"Release me! Release me!" She screams aloud, still they decline her request

So she sits in the corner contemplating on how she can repeal her arrest

Someone comes by the prison with a rake to gather all the leaves

But she's left behind under maximum security, all alone to grieve

The leaves have been transferred to a better place; they'll be recycled and reused

But she remains in solitary confinement, brainwashed and confused
