#2. The Changed Soul
"I don't want to get my heart broken into a million pieces yet again. It's high time that I change myself."
It's hard to believe that an optimistic girl like her can say this. She's Ishika Saxena, my childhood best friend. She is a writer and content manager by profession. She has always been a kind, practical, optimistic yet emotional being. Suddenly, she's planning to change herself.
I am Mahika Sahni and I am a content manager by profession. I am unsure if Ishika is right on her part. It's hard to change yourself. But Ishika is adamant about changing her ways and being a different person altogether.
She's been through many things in her life. Her family never supported her dreams. The people whom she trusted ended up betraying her.The friends who she considered her family hurt her. She only wanted them to be with her but they couldn't do so. Also, people change in a blink of an eye, but not everyone can do it. Ishika is not the kind to change overnight just like her friends did.
I need to have a conversation with her and tell her that she's beautiful and she doesn't need to change. She needs to prioritize herself.
As I walk to and fro outside her room, the door of her room opens and she walks out - unrecognizable in her new avatar. I can feel her changed aura. She's put on makeup which is unlikely for her. She's confident enough to answer back to the people who have hurt her. I know that she's different from my best friend.
"Ishu, please don't change, instead, prioritize yourself," I say.
"Mahi, it is high time to change, And I need to change. I can't let others break me frequently." Ishika says softly.
"Why change yourself for others?" I ask her.
"I am doing it for myself, Mahika. People keep changing, why can't I? It's better to inculcate the changes in real life and not change soul-ly." Ishika says meaningfully.
I stare at my best friend. I know the gist behind her words and I agree that she's doing the right thing. She holds my hands in hers bringing me back to reality.
"Mahika, I can't thank you enough. You've been my protector and a great friend. You helped me come out of the trauma of heartbreak and the trust issues that I had. I trust you with my heart and soul." she says confidently.
"I am not changing myself, Mahi. I just want to answer back to those who think that I can't do what they did. Well, I can't fall to their level but I can surely teach them a lesson with my success." Ishika smiles.
Ah! This is not my pal. No, she not only changed her look but her mindset as well. She's wearing confidence and her emotions are under her control. I am proud of her. She's a new persona and everyone will be blinded by her success.
Changing is about developing the traits in a positive way, It's about making your destiny the way you want it to be.
