Dark Tunnel

Stumbling in darkness, mourning my lost light, an oily, putrid-tasting substance coats my tongue when I breathe through my mouth to alleviate stench so bad my stomach heaves.

My heart stutters at the scraping of something huge dragging itself along with claws clicking and countless tiny suckers squelching on the rock floor.

A gurgling comes from behind me. Then the quiet clicking of teeth meeting as a mouth closes. Many teeth. Probably long and serrated.

Something slimy brushes my cheek, sticks in my hair and pulls.

Screaming, I run for my ship.

I wish I knew which way was out.
