To stand or fight for anything
That is existing instead of living

A job, a house and a picture perfect family
Becoming just like everyone tells us to be

Battling  our parents about who
is more stuck up

We consume and consume, it's never enough

But here we go, slaves to the TV
And to social media, likes are all we see
Selling our ideals for some virtual admiration
Buying tons of make up to hide our frustration
Not using our own head
But blindly following those who
Rule the internet

We are the generation Y
We are the generation lie
Since lies seems to be all that we are told
And lies is all that we are sold
Wrapped up in a pretty paper
And kept together by the sparkling glitter
Of the advertisement and media, promising
The paradise, for all of those paying
Or at least that's how we feel
Never able to tell what and who
Is fake and what and who is real

We are the generation Y
We are the generation Why  ?
Since what we are is just what we are meant
to be, products of our environment
Just trying to get along
Between all those war's raging on
In a world that is a total mess
Where we are just powerless
With so many others deciding our fate
Becoming marionettes of those who
Know how this game of life is played

We are the generation Y
We are you and him and her and them and I
Young,  hopeless and desperate
So we tend to forget
That this world doesn't has to be like that
That the future is up to us
That all we have to do is add
A little bit of rebellion
