Yet mummy skipped dinner again because she's feeling fat.

Dear grown ups,
you told us 'Always tell the truth'
When we made up an excuse
Yet we catch you telling lies that
are way worse than ours.

Dear grown ups,
You told us 'Treat everyone equal'
When we didn't let anyone join our game
Yet grandpa votes a man who wants to 'keep lousy immigrants out'.

Dear grown ups,
You told us 'to respect freedom of speech'
When we argued in primary school
Yet we are constantly made shut up and told not to disturb.

Dear grown ups,
You told us 'actions speak louder than words'
When you wanted us to change our behaviour
Yet what you say and what we see contradicts.

So don't be surprised
We are lost and confused
We are just what you raised
So many phrases that you used
So many things you praised
Yet we don't know what to do
Yet we don't now what's right and true
Have no goals except for one-
to not become like you
