Ten past midnight,
And she is sitting up tight,
Anxiously listening in her bed,
Got school tomorrow, should sleep instead,
But downstairs two voices fight,
That she can't ignore, so hard she tried,
To loud mother and father,
Yelling angrily at each other

Half past midnight,
And she tries to hide,
Under blanket and pillow,
From the voices and sorrow,
But there's no escape tonight,
Accusions fly from side to side,
Every single one a hit in her face,
Her bed became such a horrible place

Quater to one,
And it all feels so wrong,
Yet all that in her bed she can do,
Is hearing her nightmare coming true,
Downstairs the war wages on,
As she regrets everything she has ever done,
While sitting up straight in her bed like chained,
And breathing heavily, like about to faint

The clock strikes one,
Every second lasts too long,
She just wishes it would all be a dream,
Didn't know her parents could be so mean,
Wonders if this happens to everyone,
Because if that's what love brings, she wants none,
Cries while making sure they can't hear,
It would only fuel their fire, she does fear

Ten past one,
The screams are gone,
Replaced by sobs that sound like sirens,
And then, suddenly, comes silence,
She knows tomorrow she has to be strong,
Smiling, acting like nothing ever was wrong,
And while it all finally becomes blurry,
She decides she never wants to marry.

-A/N I actually just wanted to write a poem for hijabiquotes contest (who you all really should check out btw- they great and inspiring) but then things escalated into this (kinda personal) crap.
Anyway,
Stay human,
Sero 💙✌-
