Secrets and Lies

"I thought about how there are two types of secrets: the kind you want to keep in, and the kind you don't dare to let out."

Elsa

When I arrived at school, my pack and I were greeted by the Starks chilling in the main entrance. They glowered at us, prompting Oliver to snarl, "What are you looking at?"

"Trespassers," Gigi snapped back.

"What are you talking about?" Anna asked.

"Your precious older brothers were caught sneaking around our territory last night, and they got in a fight with our alphas," Jack stated, glaring at my sister and me. He was probably trying to figure out which one of us was me so he could attack me if we all started fighting. It wouldn't end well for him, but he could, by all means, try.

"From what I heard, they were tracking a scent into your territory because we've been keeping tabs on it since it keeps showing up in ours," Thea said.

"How do you know this?" Isabelle queried, cocking her head.

"I saw Caleb this morning. Told me all about last night's adventure and how the Stark alphas attacked him."

"Dom attacked first," Spencer announced, striding over to us. A lot of his wounds had healed, but a few still stood out prominently, in particular, one on his jaw that seemed to pain him every time he talked. "I stopped the fight to ask what they were doing because I figure Hunter and Caleb wouldn't be stupid enough to come into our territory for no good reason. My brother and I were tracking the same scent, which led us up to the cave your brothers were in. That's all that happened, although if we catch them on our property again, it won't be good."

"My alphas could kick your ass," Barry retorted.

"If that's what helps you sleep at night. Now I'd appreciate it if all of you would leave us alone. We want nothing to do with you."

"I don't know. I'd kind of like to take on Elsa at the moment."

"So I can kick your ass again?" I countered.

"Would you drop that for the love of God?" Spencer groaned. "Jack, take the others and go. Now. That's an order."

"Why are you not telling her to shut up?" Jack asked, motioning at me with his hand.

"First, because I'm not her alpha. Second, she was defending herself because you can't stop picking fights with her. You know you're pissing me off when I'm taking a Laroches side for the first time in my life. Now go."

Jack mumbled something under his breath, but I couldn't hear it.

"That was stupid of you, Stark," Thea said. "Letting your pack leave you all alone with us."

"What could you possibly do to me, Fray?" Spencer asked in a mixed tone of exasperation and boredom. "Because pretty sure if you attacked me, I'd win."

"Let's see about-"

I stuck my arm out in front of Thea, hissing, "Don't even think about it."

"Elsa, you're the Omega. I'm ordering you to let me at him."

"Yeah, well, I'm beta to Caleb at the moment, and I agree with Elsa. Enough with the fighting Thea. I don't like him either, but I don't want a death sentence. Besides, even injured, he could take you down," Anna said.

"This day will go down in history as the day the Laroches and the Starks could agree on not one, but two things. I shall cherish it. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have class." Spencer walked off. A few seconds later, my phone buzzed. I answered it immediately, ignoring Thea, Oliver, and Barry's bitching about the Starks.

From Spencer: Meet me in the basement

To Spencer: On my way

"Hey guys, I need to go ask a teacher about an assignment. I'll see you in class," I lied, darting off before any of them could join me. I wove my way through the crowd, trying to get to the basement before the first warning bell because then I'd only have five minutes with Spencer, and I had a feeling we'd be needing more time than that to talk about what had happened.

Finally, I reached the doorway to the basement, where I slipped in unseen. I could already smell Spencer down there. His cologne was easy to recognize. He waited for me at the end of the hallway.

"Are you okay?" I asked, placing my hands on his shoulders. "How badly did they hurt you?"

"I'm fine," he said with a smile.

"That didn't answer my second question."

"The worst one is my jaw. I have some nicks and bruises all over, but a lot of it healed last night. How are your brothers?"

"Does it hurt to talk? And I don't know. I haven't seen them this morning. Thank you for stopping them from attacking you any further. How's your brother?"

"Only a little. Dom's fine, just some nasty gashes on his back. I wanted to give your brothers the benefit of the doubt. As much as Dom wants to say you're all stupid, I know that is far from the truth. I figured your brothers must've had a good reason for being in our territory."

"I can't believe they risked it. Thank god you were there or who knows what would've happened to my brothers. I mean, if it'd been your parents..."

"Don't think about it."

"They're my family. I think about every bad thing that could happen to them when they go on patrol, and now I think about every bad thing that could happen to you too. I'm also worried about what my family would do to you if they found out about us..." I rambled. I took a deep breath to calm myself, and I was about to apologize for the random burst of thought when Spencer grabbed me by my hips and crashed his lips onto mine. All thoughts fled my mind as I willingly returned the act of affection, my hands cupping his face. It was only when he grunted that I realized what I'd done. Breaking off the kiss, I asked, "Did I hurt you?"

"It's okay."

"I know it hurts to talk, so surely it hurts to kiss me?" I remarked, giving him a slightly amused look.

"I don't care," he answered sincerely, a smile forming on his face as he pushed me up against the wall and began kissing me again. Just a few moments later, we both groaned as we heard the bell ringing alerting us we had five minutes to get to class.

"I need to get to class," I said disappointedly.

"A couple more minutes," he countered, trailing kisses along my jaw and down my neck. I bit my lip, enjoying it way too much.

"If I don't leave now, my pack mates will get suspicious. I'm the good girl in the pack." Spencer reluctantly moved away. Sighing, I grabbed my bag off the floor.

"You're sneaking around to see me. I'd hardly call that being a 'good girl,' but we don't want them to know that now do we?" He joked.

"Most certainly not. I'll see you soon?"

"If you have a break sometime today, text me. I'll try to and come see you. If we can, meet me here. If not, I guess we'll have to wait until tomorrow."

"Will do. I'll see you soon." Giving him one last kiss, I slipped back into the hallway, making my way up to my business class. When I arrived, Anna was waiting for me.

"Did you get your question answered?" she inquired.

"Yep."

"Good. Is there any reason why you smell like a guy's cologne?"

"Someone was spraying Axe on in the hallway, and I had the unfortunate luck to walk through it." I was lying through my teeth, but not even Anna could know about Spencer and me. Even though she'd be on my side if she found out, I didn't want her to be in the position of keeping the secret from our family. When she found out about my secret boyfriend, it'd be along with the rest of the pack.

Someday...
