Welcome witches, wizards and other magical beings to the very first edition of this year's Hogwarts Weekly!
To the first years, welcome at Hogwarts and prepare for a journey wilder than you could ever imagine! Newton at your service to distract you from any unpleasant assignments and bring you the latest of the latest with nothing but the truth.
After the thrilling events of last year with the Triwizard Tournament and the arrival of our mates from Durmstrang and Beauxbatons, it has come to my attention that the Hogwarts student body desperately yearns for an uneventful year. But it wouldn't be Hogwarts without a near death experience— in the end, it does bring the most interesting stories to tell your family.
What will this year bring? Vampires lusting after pure-bloods? (After all, the muggle-borns have survived the basilisk attacks of '92-'93 and half-bloods are in eternal damnation with the infamous Harry Potter) Whatever life will throw in our direction, we'll get through it!

Following Hogwarts tradition, there has been appointed a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, ever since it turned out that the professor last year had actually been. . . a Death Eater under the influence of a polyjuice potion.
Shocker.
This year, the poor lucky soul who has been brave enough to take the position is no other than Professor Dolores Umbridge. You must have seen her during the Feast. The lady dressed all in pink seemed harmless and quite dull at first, but it was soon clear to all that she was the total opposite of that. Her sugar sweet voice fails to mask the fact that Professor Umbridge, will be anything but sweet. With tiny steps, just like the ones she had taken to get on the stage, interrupting Dumbledore while he was holding his yearly speech, she undoubtedly will change Hogwarts from how we know it nowadays
Many have already expressed their disapproval of her as her classes lacked creativity and flair, that the Hogwarts classes are praised fort. What ever happened to the desire for a normal school experience?

"All we asked for was a stable professor who knows what they're teaching," expressed an exhausted Ravenclaw.

"I miss professor Lupin." Followed by a meticulous comparison of all the Defends Against the Dark Arts teachers a sixth year Hufflepuff had.

All in all, it is safe to state that Professor Umbridge has gotten herself quite an image. Will this improve or continue to deteriorate following this year? Find more first experiences students have had with Professor Umbridge on page 9.

But despite the never ending changes here at Hogwarts, one thing that won't change is the submitted story of the week: this week's winner being Mason Harper and his encounter with harpies — as cliché as it may sound. More so on page 3.
