MODEL, ACTRESS, WHATEVER.
By Luisa Cho | June 3rd 2018
In the wake of their recent breakup, Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen has come under intense scrutiny for his disparaging comments about his ex-girlfriend, Augustine Slade. Slade, a prominent model and actress and member of The Crave, had been in a high-profile relationship with Verstappen for over two years before the split was announced last week.
During a post-race interview, Verstappen was pressed about the reasons behind their breakup. Instead of addressing the personal aspects of their relationship, he opted to belittle Slade's professional achievements. "She's a model, actress, whatever," Verstappen remarked dismissively. "She was always more interested in the limelight than in building a meaningful relationship. I need someone who understands the demands of my career, not someone who's just chasing headlines."
These comments have ignited a firestorm on social media and among fans, who accuse Verstappen of dragging Slade's name through the mud. Critics argue that his remarks not only undermine Slade's hard-earned career but also reflect poorly on his own character. "Max is using his platform to attack someone who deserves respect for her work," tweeted one disgruntled fan. "This is not the behavior of a true champion."
Augustine Slade has chosen not to respond to Verstappen's comments publicly. Friends and colleagues close to Slade have expressed their disappointment, describing his remarks as "hurtful" and "unjustified." "Augustine has always been supportive and dedicated, both personally and professionally," one friend stated. "Max's comments are a stark contrast to the person we know her to be."
The backlash has extended beyond fans, with several media outlets and former acquaintances criticizing Verstappen for his lack of discretion and empathy. "Dragging an ex's name through the mud in such a public forum is not only unprofessional but also deeply disrespectful," a sports commentator noted. "Max needs to reconsider how he handles personal matters in the future."
Despite the controversy, Verstappen remains focused on his racing career, preparing for the upcoming Grand Prix season. However, the incident serves as a reminder of the challenges that come with fame and the importance of maintaining personal integrity in the public eye.
As the situation unfolds, all eyes are on both Verstappen and Slade to see how they navigate the aftermath of this highly publicized split. For now, Augustine Slade continues to build her career without engaging with the negativity, while Max Verstappen faces the consequences of his words in both the media and his fanbase.

RED BULL'S GOLDEN BOY OR
BOY SEEKING DADDY'S APPROVAL?
By Althea Perez | June 3rd 2018.
The fallout from the breakup between Red Bull's Max Verstappen and actress-model Augustine Slade has taken a dramatic turn. After Verstappen's dismissive comments, in which he referred to Slade as a "model, actress, whatever," and accused her of prioritizing fame over their relationship, Slade has delivered a scathing response that seems to hit Verstappen where it hurts the most—his insecurities and his complex relationship with his father.
Though Slade didn't mention Verstappen by name during an exclusive interview with Vogue, her sharp remarks left little doubt about their intended target. When asked about her recent split, she said, "Some people dedicate their lives to chasing approval—whether it's from fans, critics, or, in some cases, their fathers. It's sad to watch someone work so hard for something they'll never feel is enough."
The comment has been widely interpreted as a dig at Verstappen's well-documented relationship with his father, Jos Verstappen, a former racer known for his strict and often harsh approach to guiding Max's career. For years, speculation has surrounded how much of Max's success is fueled by a desire to live up to his father's expectations, and Slade's pointed remarks have reignited the debate.
But Slade didn't stop there. Taking aim at Verstappen's character as a partner, she said, "You can't expect someone to be a good partner when they don't even know who they are outside of what they do. If all you're offering is your career, then maybe that's all you'll ever have."
Fans and critics alike have been quick to weigh in, with social media ablaze over Slade's comments. Some praised her for standing her ground and calling out Verstappen's perceived emotional immaturity. "Augustine just exposed the truth behind the golden boy façade," one fan tweeted. Others, however, accused her of taking low blows, with one user commenting, "This is just as messy as Max's original comments. Both need to move on."
Media analysts have noted that Slade's remarks may have struck a nerve for Verstappen, who has built his reputation as a fiercely competitive and focused athlete. "Max's relationship with his father has always been a sensitive subject, and Augustine's comments bring it back into the spotlight in a way that could be damaging," one commentator said. "This could either motivate him further on the track or unsettle him."
When asked if she regretted her words, Slade offered a defiant response. "The truth hurts, but it also sets you free. I'm moving forward, and I suggest others do the same."
Whether Verstappen will respond to Slade's remarks is yet to be seen, but one thing is certain—this breakup has become as headline-worthy as a Formula 1 championship race. Fans and critics alike are left to wonder: Is Verstappen truly Red Bull's golden boy, or just a boy seeking his father's approval?

Augustine glanced at Willa, "do you see this shit?"
"Where he spoke about you? Yeah." she replied as she touched up her smudged eyeliner, "You got him good too, I like it when you're vengeful." she hums and looks at the blonde woman, "any plans tonight...?"
"I called Daniel."
"Isn't that his teammate....?" Willa pauses.
"Yep."
"Holy shit?"
Augustine glanced at the redhead, tugging at the garter on her thigh, "too much?"
Willa shakes her head, "that dress is too long." she hums, "if it was shorter..."
"Will..." Augustine groans.
"Okay! Listen!" Willa shifts and gently rolls the hem of the dress, "just trust me, okay?"
Her words are enough to make Augustine remember that Willa is the one who knows better — Willa is the one who knows how to ruin a life almost as quick as she makes them.
Augustine was learning from a pro, she has to remind herself often. "Am I a bad person?" Augustine asks softly.
"We're all people who do bad things." Willa says as she gestures for Augustine to twirl, "there, it's just enough skin to keep him on his toes but not enough to give up the goods that easily."
"Thanks." Augustine mumbles and wraps her arms around the redhead, "I don't know what I'd do without you." she whispers.
"Die." Willa laughs softly and embraces the blonde woman a lot tighter, "but most of this is your own doing Aug, it's okay to react, you're human, so is he."
Augustine nods and smooths her dress out; she had every reason to react. She has every reason to react, she has every reason to react, the more she tells herself it's okay, the worse she feels.
But that feeling vanishes just as fast as it appears, maybe Max was right, she was an actress — after all, lying is the most fun a girl like her could have.
