Today, my mother kept a fast,
Fast, for dad's long life,
Life, full of peace and love,
Love, which brings smile,
Smile, which I saw on the faces of those children,
Children, who were selling Gajras,
Gajras, which husbands bought for their beautiful wives,
Wives, who were fasting, would smile,
Smile, which would fill those children's stomach,
Stomach, which were, for days, empty,
Empty, like they were fasting,
Fasting, like my mother did today,
Today, those children will break that,
That, will bring more smiles,
Smiles, full of peace and love,
Love, which will long last.
