Remember?

"Your mirror writes a poem for you. What does it say?"

Remember,
When we first found each other,
With infantile amnesia?

Remember,
When we tried to touch,
And that invisible cold wall obstructed us?

Remember,
When we realized,
That we reflected each other?

Remember,
That pink frock,
We together twirled around in?
And the giggles,
Amusing expressions,
Unheard stories.
Remember,
We were each other’s best friends?

Remember,
When you noticed,
The colour of my eyes,
And couldn’t stop staring?

Remember,
All the secrets you shared,
Imaginary conversations,
That we knew we would never have?

Remember,
When we first tried,
Putting lipstick,
And eyeliner,
Failing beautifully?

Remember,
When your eyes were placid,
Smile, full of life,
Slowly turning into chaos in your head?

I remember,
That disgust on your face,
When you first noticed our naked body,
Scars counted,
Colours unwanted,
Blemishes; you tried to cover,
Bags; you tried to hide,
Under the layer over layers,
Our tears smeared them all over again,
As you slowly discovered our every flaw.

You stopped looking into my eyes,
We stopped smiling,
You stopped telling me secrets,
We stopped twirling around,
Then one day,
You stopped coming to me.

Remember?
It has been a while since I saw you,
You remember, don’t you?
