He Needed A Friend
A villanelle is a nineteen-line poetic form consisting of five tercets followed by a quatrain. There are two refrains and two repeating rhymes, with the first and third line of the first tercet repeated alternately until the last stanza, which includes both repeated lines.
The night and the day were in perfect blend,
When I heard his voice desperately calling me,
Maybe he needed a friend.
We got together and our talks would never end,
We spent our time in ecstasy
But people called him a fiend.
Within me, he was becoming confident,
Having him, I was becoming free,
Maybe he needed a friend.
We enjoyed the bloodshed,
We enjoyed ripping bodies into three,
And other people called him a fiend.
I was scared of forgetting the time we spend,
He was scared of leavig my body and me,
Maybe he needed a friend.
People called a priest to defend,
To performed some rituals on me,
Because people called him a fiend,
But maybe he really needed a friend.
